1. Identify and discuss two strengths you relied on to help you meet the clearance requirements for Field Practicum 1.
For each strength listed, please provide a corresponding relevant example to illustrate your thinking. Your response
should be 150 to 200 words in length. 3 marks

The first strength which helped me a lot was my excellent organizational skill. I was able to follow
several clearance requirements by developing a checklist which was time bound. For instance, I made
sure that my skills training session was scheduled well in advance so that by October 8, 2024, I would
have completed the online part of the Standard First Aid & CPR course. This kind of anticipatory
behaviour enabled me to manage my tasks effectively without getting stressed.

An additional strength was time management. For every week, I managed to get training confinement
and other clearance duties done by allocating certain days during which the training modules or
requisite papers were to be submitted. For example, after receiving worker health and safety
awareness training instructions, it took me less than two days to complete the training and hence I
managed to meet the deadlines comfortably. These strengths have aided me in being goal oriented and
completing my clearance requirements on a timely basis.

2. Identify and discuss one opportunity for growth (or need) that adversely impacted your ability to meet one or more
clearance requirements for Field Practicum 1. What 2 or 3 strategies will you use to resolve this need in order to
ensure that you complete all requirements by the end of the semester. Your response should be 150 to 200 words
in length. 3 marks
One area that I did not master was stress management when in particular I had to wait for my police
reference checks, and I was waiting for a response from them. The holding phase made me feel
restless and my concentration on other matters was hampered. To avert this, one strategy I would like
to employ is to improve on how I manage stress and avoid uncertainty by using mindfulness
techniques, for instance deep breathing exercises. Another strategy involves relatively more active
outreach to authorities and my coordinator in order not to miss the progress of any pending
requirements. Not being in the dark around any such matters allows me to cope with anxiety and helps
me feel more empowered. Finally, I will develop backup time management plans for each requirement
in the event detail is not met so that I will be able to meet my expected date of the end of semester.
