Program Title: “Empowering the Next Generation: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for

Rural Province”.
Background:
The " Empowering the Next Generation: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Rural Province"
program is especially crucial as it addresses the disparity in AI education between young
professional and students in rural province of LAOS, who often have less exposure to advanced
technologies compared to their urban counterparts. This program aims to bridge this gap by
providing hands-on experiences and educational opportunities, empowering all participants to
explore innovative solutions to socio-economic challenges, develop critical skills like problem-
solving and ultimately prepare for the future in an AI-driven world. Therefore, by supporting this
program will not only benefits individual participants but also contributes to closing the digital
divide and fostering sustainable development in rural areas.
1. Objective:
The primary goal of the program is to provide young professionals and students from rural
provinces with a practical and immersive experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications.
This experience aims to deepen their understanding of AI's capabilities and inspire innovative
thinking regarding how AI can tackle socio-economic challenges. Ultimately, the program seeks
to empower participants to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development efforts in their
communities. Additionally, the program will offer knowledge and experience to local students
and young professionals, giving them an opportunity to present their ideas on how AI can be
applied to enhance the digital economy of Laos' rural areas.

2. Theme/topic:
The event's theme, "Empowering the Next Generation: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for for
Rural Province", emphasizes the program's focus on not only educating participants about AI but
also empowering them to become change agents. The theme highlights the importance of
applying AI principles to create sustainable solutions that can positively impact society in rural
areas.

3. Types of activity:
- Recruiting: To select trainees, interested individuals or team will be required to
submit ideas for implementing AI in rural areas. The top 6 ideas will be selected as
winners and granted attendance to the course. These winners will also have the
opportunity to present their ideas during the program for a chance to win the final
award. This activity aims to encourage innovative thinking and active participation
among potential trainees, ensuring that the program attracts individuals with a
genuine interest in leveraging AI for rural development.
- AI Seminar: The seminar will feature experts from private companies and
universities who will share their knowledge and experiences in the field of AI. Topics
may include current trends in AI, ethical considerations, the advantage and
disadvantage of Generative AI, and practical examples of AI implementation
especially the Generative AI. The seminar also aims to deepen participants'
understanding of AI and its potential impact.
- Site Visits: These visits will allow selected participants from rural provinces to
witness firsthand how AI is used in various settings. For example, they may observe
AI-driven personalized learning in telecommunication companies, AI research in
colleges and universities, and AI applications in both government and private services.
The visits aim to provide practical insights into AI's real-world applications.
- AI Idea Competition: The competition will challenge both selected participants from
rural province and local participants to develop innovative ideas for using AI to
address socio-economic issues. The competition aims to encourage participants to
think creatively and come up with practical solutions to real-world problems.

4. Target of participant:
The program is open to young professionals and students who are interested in AI and
have a passion for making a positive impact. Participants should be eager to learn and
collaborate with others to develop innovative solutions. The program aims to attract
participants who are motivated to apply AI principles to solve real-world problems.
5. Tentative time schedule:
- Preparation: This phase involves identifying and inviting speakers for the
seminar, coordinating visit schedules, and promoting the event to attract
participants. Organizers will also prepare the competition guidelines and
criteria for judging.
- Implementation:
▪ 1 day for AI training will be conducted with expert speakers sharing
their insights.
▪ 1 day for site visit which will take place as scheduled.
▪ 1 day of The AI idea competition will also be held, with participants
presenting their ideas to a panel of judges.
- Follow-up: After the event, we will collect feedback from participants and
stakeholders to evaluate the program's impact. We will also assess the success
of the competition and determine if any ideas can be further developed or
implemented. This feedback will be used to improve future iterations of the
program.

Participation: Participants can choose to participate individually or as part of a team,
depending on their preference. This flexibility allows for a diverse range of ideas and
perspectives to be presented. Participants will be encouraged to collaborate and share their
knowledge and skills to develop innovative solutions.
Award: Since there is a limited budget, only 1 selected idea from the competition will
receive a final award. This award aims to incentivize participants to think creatively and
come up with practical and impactful ideas that can be implemented in real-world settings. In
the meantime, we will also provide souvenir gifts to all participants.

10. Public Relation:


- Social media: We will use social media platforms to promote the event, share updates,
and engage with participants and the wider community. They will also create a
hashtag for the event to encourage participants to share their experiences on social
media.
- Press Releases: Press releases will be sent to local media outlets to generate interest
and coverage of the event. Organizers will highlight the key objectives and activities
of the program to attract media attention.
- Partnerships: Organizers will partner with local organizations and stakeholders to
expand the reach of the program and enhance its impact. They will collaborate with
schools, colleges, and government agencies to organize the visits and engage with the
local community.
