2.3 Virtual Serial Port Management

2.3.1 Creating Virtual Serial Port

Serial mode configuration

To create a virtual serial port, configure the serial device into Realcom mode, as
shown in the following figure. The work mode of serial devices server can be
configured through the WEB interface.

The default connection of virtual serial port is “TCP Client mode”. The virtual serial
port will try to establish a TCP connection with the remote device when it is created. If
the connection is disconnected, the program will reconnect immediately until the
connection is successful.

Adding virtual serial port

The operation steps are as follows:

Right click the device's IP address.
Click “Add Ports”, as shown below.

Add serial port number and choose the corresponding serial port name. It supports
1~32 virtual serial port and the available serial range is 1~512. It could start from
creating a virtual serial port number needed, the number and name to be created will
be listed in the interface as shown below.

Fill serial port information and click "OK".

End.

After the serial configuration is complete, save the serial port configuration file. The
configuration file can be used to configure other serial or restore the configuration of the

serial port, the operation method is as follows:

 Copy the virtual serial port configuration file under VSP software installation path
"VSPSVC.cfg".
 Paste to a new folder "VSPbackup" to back up.
 When restoring the configuration or reusing configuration, copy the backup file in
folder 'VSPbackup' to the VSP software installation path.

2.3.2 Remove Virtual Serial Port

Need to delete all virtual serial port, right click the device IP and choose to “Remove
All Ports”, all the virtual serials of the device can be one-time deleted, only when all
the virtual serial port is not open the operation is will be successful.

Note

These parameters need to be saved to take effect.

Due to disconnect the system will automatically reconnect with the remote device, so
the system does not allow the existence of two remote devices with the same IP and
port numbers, if adding one already exists in the virtual serial port IP and port number
in the other, the system will give the corresponding prompt, as shown below.

If there are more virtual serial port parameters need to be modified, they can be
modified in the advanced options, modify the virtual serial port Keep alive time, keep
alive interval, packet size and idle time parameters. As shown in the following figure.
