(v) Internet: Internet also allows us to send instant electronic mail (e-mail) and talk (voice mail)
across the world at negligible cost. Even the payment of money from one bank to another can
be made through e-Banking.

30. It is true to say that Nationalism no longer retained its idealistic liberal democratic sentiments
by the last quarter of the 19th century in Europe. It was so due to the following reasons:
a) The Romanticism and cultural movements focused on emotions, intuitions and mystical
feelings to create a sense of a shared collective heritage, a common cultural past of a
nation.
b) Folk songs, folk poetry and folk dances are true cultural spirits of a nation and these are
essential to bind the people in a bond.
c) Importance of vernacular language also bind the people into a nation so that they can
collectively think for their nation.
d) Music also helps to light up the feeling of nationalism-connection to one nation.
e) The collection of local folklore was not just only to recover the national spirit, but also
spread the message of nationalism among the illiterate people.

locality.

As societies become large and complex, they also need some agencies to gather different views
on various issues and to present these to the government, that’s why political parties are needed.

33. This is a new idea to organize rural poor particularly women who pool their savings.
Generally, this group has 15-20 members. Members belong to the neighbourhood so that they
can meet and save regularly. Saving per member varies from Rs. 25 to Rs. 100 or more,
depending on the economic condition of the member. When the group is regular in saving for a
year or two then the group is eligible for getting loan from the bank. Bank provide loan in the
name of the group and then the SHG gives loan to its members at very low rate of interest. Loan
matter is taken very seriously as, if any one member is not able to repay the loan then it is
followed by other members and because of this feature, they get loan from the bank even though
they have no collateral.
