TYPES OF NOTICES:

1.FORMAL NOTICES:

 Put up on the notice boards of organizations, institutions and residential societies


 They give out information about Events/ Campaigns/ Competitions/
Activities/ Outings/Initiatives/Official decisions taken by the authorities.
 They also seek suitable responses and follow up action from the target group.

2.INFORMAL NOTICES:

 Put up by individuals, related to matters of personal concern.


 Eg: Seeking/giving out information about Lost/Found belongings.

FORMAT & PARA WISE CONTENT-FORMAL NOTICE

Date in expanded form NOTICE

Name of the Event

Para-1- All relevant information-What, when, at what time, where, why, how &
who is involved.

Para-2- What is the addressee /one for whom the notice is being issued, expected
to do?-submit name, attend event, donate funds, assemble at the venue, return the
article found etc.

Para-3- For further information/details, contact the undersigned/ Visit Website.(


important because in just 50 words, all details about the information cannot be
covered)

much. Ask for description from the claimant)

reward for finder of lost article

 Leave a line between paragraphs and also between Heading , NOTICE & Sub Heading.

RUBRICS FOR WRITING A GOOD NOTICE:

 Write in formal words, to the point, without any unnecessary elaboration.


 Supply all the relevant information, using correct language.
 Preferably, use passive voice as the focus is on the information, not on the person who is issuing it.
 Avoid using 'I' ,'We' completely, Use Third person only.
 Mention the name of the organisation, event and date in the beginning and the notice should be
countersigned by the issuing authority, with the name and designation.
 Insert the notice within a box to avoid deduction of half marks..
 The information should be generally written in a paragraph form, but you may write a few points in
paragraph 1 in point form, aligned to the centre.
 In LOST/ FOUND notices, though the nature is personal, use formal language.
 Announce rewards for finder of lost items & request for proof for claimants of found items.
 No need of a 3rd paragraph in Lost/Found notices
 Format includes Heading part, date & Signatory
 Notice may be written in just one paragraph, but all the points must be written in the same sequence
as shown in sample (shown in different paragraphs).

1. As the Secretary of the Interact club of Deep Public School, Ambala, draft a notice, informing the
students about the ‘Each one Teach one campaign’ being organized by the club to help the
children of the Housekeeping staff of the school. You are Anish Kumar/Anisha Kumar.
