INTERCESSIONS

As we sing the praise of our Savior who humbled him- self to be born of the
Virgin Mary, let us pray:

Lord, may your mother intercede for us.

Savior of the world, by your redeeming power you pre- served your mother
from every stain of sin, keep us free from sin. “Let us pray to the Lord”

Christ, our redeemer, you made the Virgin Mary the spotless bridal chamber
of your dwelling and a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit, make us a lasting temple
of your Spirit. “Let us pray to the Lord”

Eternal Word, you taught your mother to choose for herself the better
portion, grant us the grace to imitate her in seeking the food that endures
unto eternal life. “Let us pray to the Lord”

King of kings, it was your will to take your mother body and soul to yourself
in heaven, help us always to fix our thoughts on the things that are above.
“Let us pray to the Lord”

Priest;
Father, as we honor the glorious memory of the Virgin Mary, Queen of
Angels, we ask that by the help of her prayers we too may come to share the
fullness of your grace.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS OF PORTIUNCULA

INTRODUCTION

Good morning, brothers and sisters. Today is the Feast of Our Lady of the
Angels of Portiuncula.
Our Seraphic Father Francis in keeping with his special love for the Blessed
Virgin was especially fond of the chapel of Saint Mary of the Angels known as
the Portiuncula. It was here in the designs of Divine Providence that he
started the Order of Friars Minor, inaugurated the Order of the Poor Clares
and brought his sojourn on earth to its holy end. In this chapel according to
tradition our Holy Father obtained the famous indulgence which the Supreme
Pontiffs confirmed and extended to many other churches. On account of the
many blessings conferred here the celebration of a liturgical feast was
granted for this day which marks the anniversary of the dedication of this
chapel.

As members of the Franciscan community, we are called to follow in the

footsteps of our Seraphic Father, to embrace poverty of spirit, to be
peacemakers, and to care for our common home. Today, let us renew our
commitment to these ideals as we celebrate the maternal love and
protection of Our Lady of the Angels. May this Eucharistic celebration inspire
us to be living witnesses of the Gospel radiating the love of Christ to the
world.
Let us come together with hearts filled with gratitude and anticipation, as we
prepare to encounter the living presence of our Lord in the Eucharist.

Pause for a while...

Please all rise as we welcome our mass presider Fr. Sebastian Gabuya, OFM,
our School Chaplain together with Fr. Jumil J. Alcasoda, OFM, our School
Director and let us join the choir in singing the entrance hymn.
