Foreword

This translation has been made based on the original Japanese Industrial
Standard revised by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry,
through deliberations at the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee
as the result of proposal for revision of Japanese Industrial Standard
submitted by The Japan Research Institute for Screw Threads and Fas-
teners (JFRI)/Japanese Standards Association (JSA) with the draft being
attached, based on the provision of Article 12 Clause 1 of the Industrial
Standardization Law applicable to the case of revision by the provision of
Article 14.
Consequently JIS B 1125:2003 is replaced with this Standard.

JAPANESE INDUSTRIAL STANDARD JIS B 1125 : 2015

Self drilling tapping screws

Introduction
This Japanese Industrial Standard was established in 1984 and has gone through
four revisions. The revision at this time aims to respond to the changes in manufac-
turing and business dealings of the head tapping screw products that have taken place
subsequent to the last revision made in 2003.
No corresponding International Standard has been established at this point.

1 Scope
This Standard specifies the characteristics of steel and martensitic stainless steel
self drilling tapping screws.
NOTE 1 Steel and martensitic stainless steel self drilling tapping screws speci-
fied in this Standard are hereafter referred to as "steel self drilling tap-
ping screws" and "stainless steel self drilling tapping screws", respec-
tively, and generically referred to as "self drilling tapping screws".
NOTE 2 The self drilling tapping screws shall have a gimlet point.
