Books are the chief carriers of education - because of them ideas live and
spread. howimportant books are you can judge from the fact that very hot
countries have little civilization. there are many reasons for this, but one of
the most important is that white ants who live in the tropics eat up all the
books. for example in tropical south america there are practically no books
more than forty or fifty years old. where there are no books, there are not
records and no literature. the ideas and knowledge of one generation are
not handed on the next and it is much more difficult for the race to progress
and become civilized. but it is no use having books unless people can read
them and learning to read is part of what is called education. questions : (i)
how are the books carriers of education? (ii) why do very hot countries
have little civilization? (iii) where and when it is difficult for the human race
to progress? (iv) what is the importance of people's ability to read books?
(v) give a suitable title.
Then I began writing - About half an hour later, I turned towards Seven who
was lying on his

After the emperor had left, a crowd of people cameto
see me. I was a novelty in that island because
these people had never seen someone of my size
before. Some of the tiny people aimed arrows at me.
One arrow nearly shot into my eye. These people
were handed over to me to punish as I pleased.
To give them a fright. I Pretended I was going to eat
one of them, and I put the others in my pocket. When
i took out my penknife, they were terrified but I cut
the cords of each of these tiny people and put them
on the ground. People went to tell the Emperor who
in return of my kindness to his people decided that!
would not be killed.
On the Emperor's orders, six cows and forty sheep
were to be milked every day to provide me with milk.
My clothes were to be made by three hundred tailors
and i was to have six hundred attendants to look
after me. I was to be taught the local language by siy
teachers.

One evening a hungry fox came to a farmhouse. There

for two days, but it was afraid of the dog.
The fox had a very good plan. It began to run round the tree, and

too short for the dog to reach the plate. Then the fox ate up the meat

An hour later, we were ready to leave. I didn't know what to do. I could not
kiss him or cry. I touched his shoulder and wheeled out into the summer
evening I looked back; and I knew he was waving, though he wasn't.
Watching him, an embodiment of my bravest self, the one I was moving
