Abstract

As an diploma holder, this training program was an excellent opportunity

for me to get to the ground level and experience the things that I would have never
gained through going straight into a job. Industrial training was a very great
opportunity I got to apply the theories that I learnt with the real industry for the
real situations.
This also gave me the chance to move with different types of people in the
industry. Having exposed to such situations I was able to obtain lot of experiences
which will be definitely helpful to success my future career as an Engineer. Finally, I
can say with a great pleasure that 1 months of industrial training was a helpful
period of time for me to excel my skills.
The experiences I gained through this training program will be a strong
foundation to my career as an engineer. I hope that the college would continue to
conduct such opportunities for us
Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION

As part of the curriculum for the diploma program at Government

Polytechnic, Gaja, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, students are required to undergo
industrial training to gain practical knowledge and exposure to real-world working
environments.
I completed a one-month industrial training at “EE PMGSY IRRIGATION
DIVISION CHAMBA, TEHRI GARHWAL” from 29th June 2024 to 28th July 2024.
This training offered me the opportunity to enhance my understanding of
construction processes and observe various on-site activities.
The main objective of the training was to acquire knowledge about road
construction, including the construction of road walls and the different layers of
roads. This hands-on experience has greatly contributed to my technical skills and
professional development.

1.1 AIM
The primary aim of this industrial training was to gain practical knowledge and
hands-on experience in road construction processes. This included understanding
the construction of road walls, various layers of roads, and observing the different
stages of work executed on-site. The training aimed to bridge the gap between
theoretical knowledge and practical application by providing real-world exposure
to construction activities and techniques.
1.2 OBJECTIVE
• To gain hands-on experience in road construction activities and processes.
• To understand the construction methods and techniques involved in
building road walls and layers of roads.
• To observe and analyze the workflow and management of construction
projects on-site.
• To familiarize oneself with the tools, machinery, and materials used in road
construction.
• To enhance practical knowledge by bridging the gap between theoretical
concepts and real-world applications.
• To develop problem-solving skills by tackling challenges encountered during
on-site construction.
• To learn about safety measures and best practices followed in construction
projects.
• To gain insights into project planning, execution, and quality control in road
construction.

1.3 SCOPE

• Practical Exposure: Provides students with hands-on experience in road

construction processes, including the building of road walls and layers,
offering a better understanding of real-world construction techniques.

material handling, and understanding the use of tools and machinery in the
construction industry.
• Professional Insights: Offers insights into the workflow, management, and
coordination of on-site construction projects, preparing students for real-
world challenges.
• Safety Practices: Familiarizes students with the safety protocols and
guidelines necessary for working in a construction environment.
• Career Readiness: Bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and
practical application, equipping students with the competence needed for a
career in civil engineering and construction.
