BRIEF HISTORY OF NASARAWA STATE E-LIBRARY

viii
The Nasarawa State e-Library is a State-owned hybrid library with digitized

electronic materials that can be accessed by users through the Online Public

Access Catalog (OPAC).

The e-library which was executed in partnership with MDG (SDG) seeks to

promote digital learning, computer literacy and more importantly, bridge the

digital divide between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have not’ by providing affordable and

effective internet access to the general public.

It also provides world class information, academic and research materials to it

citizenry.

The libraries are designed such that they could be self-sustaining and easily

accessible by people all across the state thereby educating, inspiring, and

connecting people. The library will be an assemblage type with licenses to top

journals, premium academic database and high impact information materials.

ABSTRACT

ix
The Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) is a Federal

Government initiative in Nigeria, providing students with practical exposure and

industrial skills in their chosen fields. My six-month SIWES experience at the E-

Library involved hands-on learning, focusing on Networking concepts, including

network devices and their roles. The document further explores Microsoft Excel,

PowerPoint, and Word, providing insights into calculations, presentations, and

document formatting are introduced, followed by a summary of CSS properties like

padding and margin. The importance of HTML in web development is outlined,

covering the structure of an HTML document and importing images. The abstract

concludes with a discussion on Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), emphasizing flexbox

and flex-basis properties, and introduces Tailwind CSS, a utility-first framework.

The document encompasses a wide array of topics, making it a valuable resource

for individuals seeking practical guidance in graphic design, Microsoft Office

applications, networking, and web development.
