PCA-I, Data sheet

PCA®–I concrete superplasticizer is a polycarboxylate polymer-based admixture that enhances concrete's water reduction, strength, and workability, making it ideal for high-durability and self-compacting concrete. It offers significant improvements in compressive strength and slump retention while being free of chloride ions and low in alkali content. Proper dosage and compatibility testing with other admixtures are essential for optimal performance, and technical consulting services are available for mix design optimization.

PCA® -I Concrete

Superplasticizer

Brief Introduction

PCA®–I concrete superplasticizer is a polycarboxylate polymer-based composite admixture. It is a liquid

which has the performances of high range water reduction, excellent slump retention and
strengthening. It is specially suitable to the production of high-durability concrete, self-compacting
concrete, high-compressive-strength concrete, and high workability concrete.
PCA®–I Concrete superplasticizer is formulated to comply with the following specification for concrete
admixture: ASTM C494/C494M TYPE-G BS EN934:/3.2.3, BS 5075 Part 3:1985.

Product Features

 High range water reduction: Tested according to ASTM C494/C494M TYPE-G BS EN934-2-2009,
the water reduction rate can be up to 30% at high dosage rates;
 High compressive strengths: It can improve the compressive strengths of concrete by 50-100% at
the age of 3 days, 40-80% at the age of 28 days and 25-40% at the age of 90 days;

 High slump retention: Almost no slump loss of the concrete within 2hours.;
 Excellent workability: No bleeding or segregation, no bleeding mark or obvious bubble defect on
the concrete surface;

 Low alkali content;

 No chloride ions and non-corrosion to steel bar;

 High durability: It effectively improves the frost resistance and carbonation resistance of the
concrete. It can decreases drying shrinkage of the concrete by 20% or more compared to
naphthalene-based admixture。

Use Method and Matters Needing Attention

 Dosage:
The addition rate of PCA®–I normally is ranged from 0.2~2.0% of cementitious material. The
accurate addition rate is determined based on concrete raw materials and mix proportion, on which
trials is necessary to obtain required performance with optimum dosage.
 Don’t mix with naphthalene-based admixture. If other admixtures, such as retarding or corrosion-
inhibiting admixture, are required simultaneously for some special projects, compatibility tests
should be conducted beforehand.

Packaging and Storage

 PCA® –I is normally packaged 200L or 1000L per barrel drum. Other types of packaging as requested.
 PCA®–I shall be kept in dry and normal climate and if in cold condition the product shall be
properly insulated and defrozened with proper stirring to reactivate its performance. The maximum
product life shall be within one year if protected under proper condition.

Security Matters

 PCA® –I does not contain any hazardous substances needed to be labeled. However, it is
recommended to use standard handling procedures with the product. Wear gloves and eye
protection and wash splashes to the skin with soap and water at the end of shifts or at breaks.

Technology and Service Characteristics

To ensure desired concrete performances, we offer technical consulting service on the design of
concrete mix proportion and experiment on optimization of mix proportion. Our technical personnel
will provide on-site directing service free of charge.

NOTE : Field service where provided, does not constitute supervisory responsibility. Suggestions made by SOBUTE either
either verbally or in writing may be followed, modified or rejected by the ower, engineer or contractor since they, and not
