MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Today, I spent some time reflecting on my teaching

philosophy. I realized that my approach to teaching is centered around
the belief that every student has the potential to learn and grow, and it
is my responsibility as an educator to help them reach their full
potential.
One of the ways I try to accomplish this is by creating a
positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe
and comfortable to ask questions and express their ideas. I also believe
in the importance of building strong relationships with my students
and getting to know them as individuals. By doing so, I can better
understand their strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles, and tailor
my instruction accordingly.
Another key aspect of my teaching philosophy is the belief that
learning should be an active and collaborative process. Rather than
simply lecturing, I try to incorporate a variety of teaching strategies
and activities that engage students and encourage them to participate
in the learning process. I also encourage collaboration among
students, as I believe that working together can enhance understanding
and facilitate learning.
Finally, I believe in the importance of continuous learning and
professional development. As an educator, I recognize that there is
always room for improvement, and I am committed to staying up-to-
date with the latest research and best practices in teaching.

I can hardly believe it, but my journey as a teacher intern has come to a close, and I

have just completed my final demonstration lesson. It was a huge success and I am feeling

incredibly proud of myself. The journey leading up to this moment has been filled with

ups and downs, but overall, it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From
the very beginning, I knew that becoming a teacher was something I was truly
passionate about, but I had no idea just how much I would learn and grow along
the way.
As an intern, I was given the opportunity to observe and learn from some truly
outstanding teachers. I watched as they engaged their students, created dynamic
lesson plans, and managed their classrooms with grace and ease. I was also given
the chance to practice my own skills, with the guidance and support of my mentors.
Of course, it wasn't always easy. There were days when I felt overwhelmed and
unsure of myself, and there were moments when I made mistakes. But each time I
stumbled, I was able to pick myself back up and keep going. And through it all, I
continued to learn and grow.
As my final demonstration approached, I couldn't help but feel a sense of
excitement and nervousness. I had put so much time and effort into planning my
lesson, and I wanted everything to go perfectly. And when the day finally arrived,
I was ready. I stepped into the classroom with confidence, and I could feel the
energy in the room shift as the students began to engage with the material. The
lesson flowed smoothly, and the students were actively participating and asking
questions.
As the lesson came to a close, I knew that I had done it. I had successfully
completed my teacher intern program and had demonstrated that I had what it takes
to be an outstanding teacher. Looking back on this journey, I am filled with a sense
of pride and accomplishment. It wasn't always easy, but I pushed through the
challenges and emerged on the other side stronger and more capable than ever
before.

As the end of the third quarter approaches, it's time for completion week
at our school. This is a busy and sometimes stressful time for both students and
teachers, as we work to finish up our coursework and prepare for final exam.

For students, completion week is all about tying up loose ends. They may
have last-minute assignments to complete, papers to write, or projects to turn in.
It's also a time for studying and reviewing for final exams. Many students feel
overwhelmed during this time, as they try to balance their school work with other
responsibilities.

As a teacher, completion week is also a busy time. We need to ensure that

all of our grades are up to date and that we have provided enough opportunities
for students to demonstrate their understanding of the material. We may need to
spend extra time grading assignment or providing feedback to students.

One of the most challenging parts of completion week for teachers is the
completion of grades. This involves carefully reviewing all of the assignments,
exams, and projects that students have completed throughout the semester and
assigning final grades. It's a responsibility that we take seriously, as these grades
will determine whether student pass or fail.

Despite the stress that can come with completion week, it's also a time of
great accomplishment. For students, it's a chance to reflect on all that they have
learned and achieved over the course of the semester. For teacher, it’s a chance
to see the fruit of our labor as we witness our student’s growth and development.

It was the first week of our deployment at Sara National High School.
Before we were endorsed by the Intern supervisor; Ma’am Sonia Magcalas, she
oriented us about the things that we must remember during our journey in
internship. When we arrived at the school, we were also oriented by one of the
school heads in Sara National High School. The orientation is about some of the
existing environment at the school, the school calendar. We were also
introduced to our Cooperating Teacher. My cooperating teacher is Mrs. Kareen
Z. Espada, she is a Science teacher of Grade 10. She only let me observe her
class for the mean time because it was till our first day.

My second day was very fun because I had the chance to meet some of the
students of my cooperating teacher. On this day, I already have an idea about
how students behave in a classroom set-up. I realized that learners are really
different from each other and they have different unique learning styles. I was
also surprised on how the students behave like; how they behave on class, how
they treat their teachers and how they do their activities. Majority of the students
can be considered as privilege, and it was my first time observing them in a
class.

For this week, I realized that teaching is not an easy task. I am just still a
practice teacher but the responsibilities we already have is not easy as we think.
There are different things that a practice teacher like me should be reminded
such as; the laws that can protect us against unfair or mismanagement, or laws
that protect learners, and other responsibilities. It was also my first-time
observing students who are very far from what environment I know.

Learning Styles and Formative Assessment Strategy: Enhancing Student
Achievement in Web-based Learning
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of formative
assessment and learning style on student achievement in a Web-based learning
environment. A quasi-experimental research design was used. Participants were 455
seventh grade students from 12 classes of six junior high schools. A Web-based course,
named Bio CAL, combining three different formative assessment strategies was
developed. The formative assessment strategies included Formative Assessment
Module of the Web-Based Assessment and Test Analysis system (FAM-WATA) (with
six Web-based formative assessment strategies), Normal Module of Web-Based
Assessment and Test Analysis system (N-WATA) (only with partial Web-based
formative assessment strategy) and Paper and Pencil Test (PPT) (without Web-based
formative assessment strategy). Subjects were tested using Kolb's Learning Style
Inventory, and assigned randomly by class into three groups. Each group took Web-
based courses using one of the formative assessment strategies. Pre- and post-
achievement testing was carried out. A one-way ANCOVA analysis showed that both
learning style and formative assessment strategy are significant factors affecting
student achievement in a Web-based learning environment. However, there is no
interaction between these two factors. A post hoc comparison showed that
performances of the FAM-WATA group are higher than the N-WATA and PPT groups.
Learners with a ‘Duverger’ learning style performed best followed by, ‘Assimilator’,
‘Accommodator’, and ‘Converser’, respectively. Finally, FAM-WATA group students
are satisfied with six strategies of the FAM-WATA.

at your institution. Your warm welcome and support have made my experience
an enriching and fulfilling one.

I would like to express my gratitude to the administrators, staff, and parents

for their unwavering support and encouragement. Your commitment to education
and the success of your students is inspiring, and I feel fortunate to have
been a part of your community.

I am grateful for the resources and facilities provided by the school, which

I would also like to extend a special thank you to my parents, who provided
me with financial support during my teaching internship program. Your
generosity and encouragement allowed me to pursue my passion for teaching and
gain invaluable experience in the classroom.
Secondly, practice teaching helps me develop my teaching style and
approach. As we work with a mentor teacher, you will have the opportunity to
observe and learn from their teaching methods, and then develop your own
approach based on what you have learned. This process will help you become
more confident in your teaching abilities and give you the opportunity to
experiment with different strategies and techniques.

Thirdly, practice teaching allows aspiring teachers like me to gain practical

experience working with diverse groups of students. As you work with students
from different backgrounds and with varying learning needs, you will learn how
to adapt your teaching to meet the needs of individual students and to create an
inclusive learning environment. This experience will help you become a more
effective teacher and better prepare you to work in a diverse classroom
setting.

In conclusion, practice teaching is an essential component of teacher

preparation programs that provides aspiring teachers like us with the practical
experience, skills, and knowledge needed to be effective educators. It allows us
to apply our theoretical knowledge, develop our teaching style, gain experience
working with diverse students, and build relationships with students, all of which
are critical to becoming an effective teacher.
Introduction

Practice teaching or teaching internship is a critical component of teacher

preparation programs, where aspiring teachers are given the opportunity to gain
hands-on experience in a real classroom setting. It is an essential requirement for
obtaining a teaching license or certification in many countries, as it provides
prospective teachers with a practical understanding of the profession and prepares
them to face the challenges of teaching.

The purpose of practice teaching or teaching internship is to provide

prospective teachers with an opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge
gained in their teacher preparation programs and to develop the skills necessary
to become effective educators. During the internship, the aspiring teacher works
under the guidance of a mentor teacher, who provides feedback and support
throughout the teaching experience. The internship may be for a full academic
year, a semester, or several weeks, depending on the program requirements and
the school district's availability. Practice teaching, also known as teaching
internship, is essential for aspiring teachers like me for several reasons:

Firstly, practice teaching provides us with an opportunity to apply the

theoretical knowledge we have gained in your teacher preparation program in a
real classroom setting. Classroom teaching involves much more than simply
knowing the content you are teaching; it also involves understanding how to
manage a classroom, engage students, assess learning, and work with parents and
colleagues. Practice teaching allows you to put your theoretical knowledge into
practice and develop the practical skills you need to be an effective teacher.
