Stages of Human Rights in Pakistan:

Human rights are considered to be held by humans simply because they are part of human
species. They are rights in essence shared equally by everyone regardless of sex, race, nationality
or ethnic background, they are universal in content. Despite this fairly straightforward definition,
recognition of human rights by individuals, groups, societies and state has been constant battle
across time and space throughout the countries, societies and groups have failed to recognize
certain human rights of individuals, groups or cultures. To the many told meanings of human
rights, a discussion reflecting the process history and change. Index of human rights in modern
world reflects the index of respective society and state. Age of dightenment has assured too
many human rights which while had been denied to human beings. In the contemporary world
denial and deliverance of human rights has become the measuring tool to judge the level of
development and progress of society. Since the past decade we are witnessing the gradual
improvement in the index of state.

H.R still we have to go a long way to improve the adverse conditions regarding H.R in our
society.

Common types of human rights:


1. Right to life:
Everyone has right to live, civilization can take away this right. Presbyterians were
hunted like cats. For example Ahmadis have not been given this right in Pakistan.

2. Right to integrity and privacy of a person:


Everybody has dignity, humiliation of people is not allowed. Everyone has right of
privacy, no one can interfere in the issues of family.

3. Prohibition of torture:
Like in Guantanamo bay, Abu-Ghfari chiniot police torture in chowk.

4. Prohibition of forced labor and slavery:


No one has right to force anyone for labor. Feudals have this habit.

5. Right to liberty and security:


Freedom is a fundamental right so, many people want freedom and should be given it, No
one has the right to enslave and subjugate the people. Dictator negates this right.

6. Freedom of thought, religion, information and expression:


Primary duty of a state is to ensure the security of life, property and honor of citizens.
7. Right to choose occupation, engage in work and to conduct business:
“If you silence a single person, you deprive the humanity of a truth”. Communist
countries do not give the right of business. China has transformed itself (Ding Xias Ping).

8. Right of equality before law:


No one is above law, everyone is equal. No undermine the sanctity of this law.

9. Right of equality between man and women:


Man and women are equal. The most hated human right in Muslim societies as there is
bias against women.

10. Right to seek asylum:


Everyone has right to seek asylum.

11. Right to cast vote :


Eunuchs were not allowed to vote. Women are not allowed to vote in Muslim societies.

Prevalence of human rights violation:


1. Oppression and occupation of different state :
Kashmir, Palestine is not enjoying liberty. They do not hold the opinion. They are being
dictated.
2. Human rights violation and torture:
It also prevails intrastate like Guantanamo bay etc.
3. Prevalence of dictatorship and monarchies:
The torch beavers of H.R are doing it and Middle East is suffering from it.
4. Ethnic cleansing campaigns :
Hitler tried to genocide Jews 6million. In Ravanda Tutsles, Hutus.
5. Culture and religious liberties under threat:
The migrants of the world, Scarf controversy, Minarets of mosques Taliban regime broke
the statue of Buddha.
6. Rise of religious extremism and terrorism:
Common within Muslim societies human rights are the last words for religious
organization.
7. Environmental degradation:
Multinationals are busy in minting money, they are only piling up profits. They are doing
incalculable loss of other human’s life by adding the toxins in the air. US contribute 25%
of total emissions.

State of H.R in Pakistan:


1. Prevalence of gender bias:
Against women and eunuchs. They do not find employments; political, social, economic
rights are being deprived.

2. Discrimination against minorities:


It’s rampant in Pakistan, the most common practice. Most abused H.R Christian’s
economic, social and political rights are being denied.
• Blasphemy laws are tools to oppress them. Asia bibs case is reflective of it.
• No one likes to eat, sit or drinks with them. No one likes to give him a job or befriend
him. No interlining and no marrying. It is controversial law.
• Leaders of Ahmadis are abused everywhere. Sikhs are paying Jizya.

3. Scourge of child labor:


Sexual harassment of children, labor at hotels, factories and offices. 1 million children are
in malnutrition, 3.5M are working in different fields, exported for cample race.

4. Internally displaced people’s plight:


Sindhis and Pathans are affectees without fundamental necessities like food, shelter,
education, security, and millions are displaced.
Use in terrorist activities:
War on terror
Natural disaster

5. Phenomena of missing persons:


Law enforcement agencies are picking suspected people. They are not given rejut to
present before the court.
Fundamental claim:
The people in Pakistan are the most unsecured people in the world. Salman Taseer was
murdered.
If law enforcing agencies kill people without a judicial process, a rampant process, fake
encounters are staged.

6. Prevalence of insecurity and lack of protection of the lives and prosperities of


people:
Political victimization is common in Pakistan. State is often involved in extra judicial
hiring. Two wrongs do not match a right. Everyone has the right to defend itself.

7. Extra judicial killings:


It has been eliminated from civilized world, stoning to death, cutting of hands

8. Capital punishment:
Punishment is for reformation and not for elimination.

9. Human trafficking:
Common practice thousand is victims of it, in order to go empower people die. Working
conditions and working homes are negating labor laws, very low pay and pathetic
working condition.

10. Pathetic condition of prisoners :


Prison houses are overcrowded 73 jails capacity is 36,000 men more than 1 lack are
stuffed in them. Low quality food, torture is common, no health facility.

11. Lack of fundamental necessities:


The function of the modern state is not only to rescue its people but also given them basic
facilities like Education, health, shelter etc.

12. Absence of meritocracy:


Egalitarian society is not present. Educational system is according to class people born
civilized and dies privileged while they born poor and die poor due to such violations 800
people were given employment in Wapda out of merit.

13. Spells of military dictatorships:


Military dictators are usurper and crushed freedom of expression only one person
commands the fate of a whole nation.

14. Lack of justice:


Justice system is costly, poor cannot even seek justice. Justice delayed is justice denied
and justice rushed in justice crushed.

15. Lack of freedom of expression:


Freedom of expression is an important human right which is essential for a society to be
democratic. It enables the free exchange of ideas, opinions and information and thus
allows members of society to form their own opinions on issues of public importance

16. Existence of certain social taboos:


Blasphemy laws, no religions, personality criticism, and stereotypical mind set.

Causes of human rights violations:


• Dictatorial rules:
Artical-10 Right of citizen to enter into any profession or occupation and to conduct any
lawful trade.

• Lack of supremacy of the law:

Artical-11 Prohibits all forms of slavery, forced labor and child labor.

Article -17 Fundamental right to exercise freedom of association

• Negative role of clergy class:

Biggest tools of violation

They don't talk about human rights.

⦁ Scourge of feudalism:

Feudals decide rampant poverty and mass illiteracy people don't know their rights.

Passive and dormant role of civil in Europe even more effective than government. We
don't have this trend.

• Society and NGO's:

Impassive role of media

Rural incidence of majority population

Agrarian society - 70%

No access of media, no awareness of their rights and abilities

Lack of literate and well aware public

17. Conservative orthodox and tradition ridden societies:

Basically, society is narrow minded. Our custom traditions do not accept change easily.
Honor killing.

18. Lack of determent laws:

Weak laws

Child labor

No laws for domestic violence

Sexual harassment

Effect of political evolution:


1. Lack of Political Evolution:

Like Middle East, Europe evolved politically due to it while Arabs not.

3. It propels brain divan:

People do not like to live in countries where human rights are not given. Where are no
severities, liberty and respect.

4. It mitigates felling of patriotism:

Families of missing persons

Minorities

5. Downward side of society:

Aggression is common in social societies.

6. Set back of economics progress:

Economics is depending upon social and political conditions. Properties are not save and
no FDI, no terrorism.

7. Blots the image worldwide:

Human rights index 127th no.

8. Closes new horizon in domain of knowledge:

Knowledge demands freedom no one can be deprived of rights of saying even if he is


saying wrong.

9. It engenders violence in society:

Missing person

Poverty

Honor;
It augments extremism in society.
