CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

In the current era where technology is constantly advancing hospitality industry
like resort has no escape from digitalization to remain relevant and up to date. As
majority of the people around the world has access to internet through their mobile
devices, online, became the primary medium for transactions. In this situation resort
without a web feature is in disadvantage, and can “result in falling behind in
competition that will cost them customers and profits”.
ECJC farm and resort started accommodating guest in year 2022, accepting
reservation and booking through manual transaction or walk-ins, aside from
providing relaxation they also promote organic farming, as to which the scenery is
surrounded by rice field. As they are in a secluded area this resort is hardly known,
the majority of their guests comes from the locals in the area. Since they only
operate using manual transaction and walk-in function, the visitors that came from
far places that visits for the first-time encounter’s issues were the resort do not have
vacancy to accommodate them, which is a hassle given that they have travel a long
distance and consumes their time. This situation leaves a negative impression from
their possible guest that
Our study aims to create a reservation system and advertisement for the ECJC
resort. Customers can access this system via online we page to obtain information
about the resort, such as rates and prices for accommodations, events, promotions,
and contact details. Additionally, it will have a photo gallery with images of the
resort's facilities so that web users may view and assess them from the comfort of
their own homes on mobile devices. In addition, this system provides an easy-to-use
online advance booking system with all the necessary information so that potential
clients can plan their trip without having to worry about a full or congested resort.
Additionally, system will assist the resort's owner in properly managing.

1.3 Statement of the Problem

This study will develop a system that will advertise and book at the ECJC resort to
support the growing demand from customers. Also, the researchers will develop this
system in response to the problems in the current manual operations, services, and
transactions that are enumerated below:

 Time consuming: the inefficiencies and limitations of the current manual

operations at the ECJC resort that hinder smooth customer transactions.

The current manual operations at the ECJC resort are plagued by inefficiencies
and limitations that significantly hinder smooth customer transactions, resulting in
wasted time and potential dissatisfaction.

 Lack of an automated system: The challenges faced by the resort staff in

managing a growing number of customers without an automated system in place.

Resort staff are increasingly struggling to effectively manage a growing number

of customers due to the absence of an automated system.

 communication issues: in the absence of convenient communication programs,

the client will find it difficult to contact the resort, and the resort will find it difficult
to reply to the client.

The lack of easy-to-use communication channels hinders both client accessibility

and resort responsiveness.

 Lack of advertising: Resort owners struggle with promoting their resorts due to
lack of knowledge of information and technology, leading to low occupancy rates
and limited revenue. Effective advertising strategies can improve convenience,
efficiency, and accuracy for both customers and staff.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURES/SYSTEMS
2.1 Related Literature
International Journal of Hospitality Management
According to Patrick De Pelsmacker et. al Digital marketing strategies, online
reviews and hotel performance(June 2018), We investigate to what extent digital
marketing strategies (such as having a digital marketing plan, responsiveness to guest
reviews, and monitoring and tracking online review information) influence hotel room
occupancy and RevPar directly, and indirectly through the mediating effect of the
volume and valence of online reviews they lead to, and to what extent this mechanism
is different for different types of hotels in terms of star rating and independent versus
chain hotels. The research was carried out in 132 Belgian hotels. The results indicate
that review volume drives room occupancy and review valence impacts RevPar. Digital
marketing strategies and tactics affect both the volume and valence of online reviews
and, indirectly, hotel performance. This is more outspoken in chain hotels than in
independent hotels, and in higher-star hotels than in lower-tier hotels.

Budapest International Research and Critics Institute-Journal

According to Gagih Pradini et. al The Influence of Digital Marketing and
Promotion on Visiting Interest in Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta(2022), Hotels are an
alternative accommodation that is quite preferred by immigrants, so the price aspect
greatly affects the interest and interest of immigrants to stay at the hotel. Shangri-La
Hotels Jakarta is a 5-star hotel located in sudirman area, Central Jakarta. The purpose
of this research is to find out the influence of Digital Marketing and Promotion on Visiting
Interests at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling
techniques. The data in this study was collected through primary data, namely by
distributing questionnaires to 98 respondents. Data analysis in this research uses

The Quality of Public Services Influenced by Competence, Motivation and

Information Technology: A Systematic Literature Review
According to M. Adi Dwi Cahyo et. al (2023) The quality of service for public can
be used as an indicator of a government regime success. To achieve maximum service
quality, competent human resources were needed. This systematic literature review
aims to provide an overview influence of competence, motivation and information
technology on the quality of public services. The literature review framework used a
structured review method. The findings show that the first study was competence
affects the quality of public services. The second study was show that motivation affects
the quality of public services. The third research was shown that information technology
affects the quality of public services. The implications of this research provide valuable
insights for public servants, in this case the government, in formulating strategies and
policies in improving the quality of public services. Based on the data that has been
collected and the tests that have been carried out, the following conclusions can be
drawn, the results of the first research test show that competence has a significant
effect on the quality of public service. The results of the second research test show that
motivation has a significant effect on the quality of public service. The results of the third

Online Resort Reservation System,
According to Poebe Kaye Costales, et al. (2019) the existing system of Puerto
Paraiso Resort is manual. To improve the existing reservation system, the researchers
make a project that they call "Online Resort Reservation System”.
Online Resort Reservation System focuses on improving the existing reservation
system of Puerto Paraiso and making it online so that the resort can advertise through

the use of world wide web and at the same time it may also help customers for making
their reservation easier. The Online Resort Reservation System is reliable, fast and
complete that provide reservation through online. Online guest could view images of the
resort, the services they offered, the packages rates and their unit’s rate.
The online guest can view existing resort reservations by selecting a service,
entering their arrival and departure dates, and changing or adding services. Payment
details are automatically stated. After selecting a service, the guest fills out a
registration form. Returning guests log in, add their reservation to their account, and
submit a confirmation form. The system shows billing summary and confirmations, and
the resort contacts new guests within 24 hours via phone or email.

Web-Based Information System,

According to Muhammad Abdul Muin, et al. (2022) At this time people spend a lot
of their time using cellphones/smartphones to view various online media, and one of
them is advertising. Kasuari Exotic Resort, which is engaged inhospitality, feels that
currently the promotion methods used have not worked effectively, therefore the
Company wants to utilize information technology inmarketing its hotel products which is
known as Kasuari Exotic Resort in Magelang Regency. To meet these needs, the
researchers took the initiative to design a web-based information system at Cassowary
Exotic Resort as a marketing medium created using the PHP programming language
with Mysql database.
Researchers analyzed the current system using the SWOT analysis method and
its development using Waterfall. In the system design process, researchers used the
Unified Modeling Language (UML) to design a marketing system. This research has
resulted in aweb-based information system design at Kasuari Exotic Resort as a
marketing medium that helps the marketing process for Kasuari Exotic Resort.

Online Advertisement Management System

According to Pothuri Nagasravya, (2023) Online advertising portals save users
time by eliminating the need to meet with advertising managers and provide sample

products. Advertising management systems are software or platforms that help

businesses manage and track their advertising campaigns efficiently. Improving
advertising management involves various strategies and techniques to enhance the
efficiency and effectiveness of campaigns. Iterative testing and optimization of
campaigns are essential, and tracking and measurement systems are used to monitor
campaign performance. Websites should have an admin who handles the entire
business and a customer who wants to promote their product or business. Advertising
helps create and increase brand awareness among the target audience. There are
various types of online advertising, including television advertising, which involves
creating and broadcasting commercials on television networks and channels to reach a
large audience and target specific interests.

2.3 Theoretical Background

Using Data Sciences in Digital Marketing: Framework, methods, and performance
metrics
According to Jose Ramon Saura, (April 2021) In the last decade, the use of Data
Sciences, which facilitate decision-making and extraction of actionable insights and
knowledge from large datasets in the digital marketing environment, has remarkably
increased. However, despite these advances, relevant evidence on the measures to
improve the management of Data Sciences in digital marketing remains scarce. To
bridge this gap in the literature, the present study aims to review (i) methods of analysis,
(ii) uses, and (iii) performance metrics based on Data Sciences as used in digital
marketing techniques and strategies. To this end, a comprehensive literature review of
major scientific contributions made so far in this research area is undertaken. The
results present a holistic overview of the main applications of Data Sciences to digital
marketing and generate insights related to the creation of innovative Data Mining and
knowledge discovery techniques. Important theoretical implications are discussed, and
a list of topics is offered for further research in this field. The review concludes with
formulating recommendations on the development of digital marketing strategies for
Green Valley College Foundation, Inc.

businesses, marketers, and non-technical researchers and with an outline of directions

of further research on innovative Data Mining and knowledge discovery applications.

Personalized digital marketing recommender engine

According to Rajat Kumar Behera et. al (March 2020) The paper describes a
model for delivering real-time, personalized marketing information concerning the
recommended items for online and offline customers, using a blend of selling strategies:
up-selling, cross-selling, best-in-class-selling, needs-satisfaction-selling and
consultative-selling. The model further defines the e-marketplace by clustering items,
customers and unique selling proposition (USP), and then gathering, storing, and
processing transactional data, and displaying personalized marketing information to
support the customer in their decision-making process, even when purchasing from
large item spaces. An experimental study using a quantitative research methodology
was conducted in a mid-size healthcare retailer, based out of India, to determine the
tangible benefits. The model was tested with 100 online customers and, with the
adoption of the proposed methodology, the results indicated growth in average monthly
revenue (33.49%), Average Order Value (AOV) (32.79%) and Items per Order (IPO)
(1.93%).

Social media influencer marketing: A systematic review, integrative

framework and future research agenda
According to Demetris Vrontis et. al (17, January 2021) Over the past few years,
the popularity of social media influencers (SMIs) has been growing exponentially,
making influencer marketing (IM) prevalent in firm strategies. Despite the mounting
interest of researchers and practitioners, the resulting scholarly work remains divergent,
partial and fragmented. In light of the pivotal role of SMIs on the consumer decision
journey and as this research domain is still developing, a comprehensive and critical
overview of extant research on this topic is sorely needed. In response, this paper is the
first to consolidate the present state of research on IM within social media settings.
Green Valley College Foundation, Inc.
School of Engineering and Technology
Km. 2, General Santos Drive, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato

More specifically, a systematic review of relevant studies published in peer-reviewed

academic journals across diverse fields was conducted in order to identify key themes
and dominant concepts. The analysis of 68 articles from 29 Chartered Association of
Business Schools-ranked journals forges a robust understanding of this phenomenon,
shedding light on the mechanisms underlying the appeal of SMIs and their influential
power in shaping consumer attitudes and behaviour. Based on the analysis, an
integrative multidimensional framework is presented that considers antecedents,
mediators and moderators of potential outcomes, as well as contextual factors that
translate into consumer behaviour. In so doing, various research gaps are identified and
avenues for future research are proposed that reflect important emerging areas and
unexplored realms with reference to theory, context and methodology. Conclusively,
implications of this study for theory and practice are discussed.
(When researching theoretical backgrounds, you can explore topics related to resort
management systems, online reservation systems, and advertising strategies in the
hospitality industry. Cite reference from rrl/rrs to support your idea/theory. Remember,
this is just a starting point, and the specific theoretical underpinnings of your system will
depend on its unique features and functionalities.)
