So much for that.

B. Lesson Proper
Based from the activities we have done. What do have you observe?

Very good. The activity earlier has something to do with our topic for today’s
discussion. Then who can guess, what is our topic for today?
The students will listen to the
Our topic for today’s discussion is discussion attentively.
Proportion
And here are the objectives we need to attain after the discussion. Who can read
the objectives?
At the end of the session, the students must be able to:
a. Identify the different kinds of proportion;
b. solve problems involving directive, inverse and partitive
proportion;
c. value the concepts of solving the proportion into real life situation.

Proportion
A proportion is an equation stating that two ratios are equal.

Our rule concerning proportions is that “the product of the means equals the
product of the extremes”.
In above, 2(8) = 1(16)
16 = 16
Applying the rule to (b) above, we cross-multiply the means and the extremes.
9(27) = 3(81)
243 = 243

3 Types of Proportion
1. Direct Proportion
The two values which are x and y are directly proportional to each
other when x and y will either increase or decrease together, such that
when one decreases, the other decreases or when one increases, the other
increases as well.
Example
If three notebooks cost Ᵽ15, how many notebooks can you buy with Ᵽ60.

2. Inverse/Indirect Proportion
Two values x and y are inversely proportional to each other such that if
x increases, y decreases or if x decreases, y increases.
3. Partitive Proportion

1 student will answer the given

problem to the chalkboard.

Do you have any question or clarification?

Now, it’s your turn to answer this additional examples using proportion…
TRY!!!
1. To produce perfume, Zion uses two basic elements, A and B, and combine
them in the ratio of 3:5. If Zion has 95 parts of elements B, how many
parts of element A should Zion use? None, sir.

Excellent, do you have any question or clarification?

If there is none. Let’s apply the concept you’ve learned in real life situation.

C. Application

In real-world, proportion is widely use in science experiments represents

relationships between physical quantities. For example, density is a ratio of mass to
volume in an object. (Integration to Science.)
Let’s now have a group activity to measure your level of understanding on our
topic. This is a group activity but each member has a different task to be
accomplish. But, before we will proceed to our group activity, let me first present
to you the rubric to be followed.

D. Generalization
To sum our lesson for today, how can we differentiate the different types of
proportion? Certain student will answer the
question.
Exactly, what values have you develop during the discussion and group Cooperation and listening
activity? attentively sir.

Correct, is there any question or clarification about our topic? None sir.
