Worksheet-3; Physics (Std:9) (Vacation Assignment)

Chapter 7 Motion

1. A train travels a distance of 20km in the first hour, 30 km in the second hour and
10km in the third hour. Calculate the average speed of the train.
2. A train covers its journey such that during first half time its speed is 60km/h and
during next half time, its speed is 40km/h. What is the average speed of the train
during the whole journey?
3. A motor cyclist drives from A to B with a uniform speed of 30 km/h and returns back
with a speed of 20km/h. Find the average speed
4. On a 120km track, a train moves the first 30km at a uniform speed of 30km/h. How
fast must the train travel in the next 90km so as to have average speed 60km/h for
the entire trip?
5. A girl moves with the speed of 6 km/h for 2h and with the speed of 4km/h for the
next 2h. Find the average speed and total distance moved.
6. An object is moving up an inclined plane. Its velocity changes from 15cm/s to 10cm/s
in two seconds. What is its acceleration?
7. A train travelling at 36km/h speeds up to 72km/h in 10 seconds. What is the
acceleration of the train?
8. A car attains 54km/h in 20s after it starts from rest. Find the acceleration of the car?
9. A boy starts walking on a road along a straight line from point A marked on the road.
As the boy walks, after 20m he reaches a tree on the road, 15m from the tree there
is an electric pole and 15m from the electric pole there is a letter box. Mark the
position of the starting point A, the tree, the electric pole and the letter box on the
straight line path.
