TASK Start the Machine By Following Standard

Operating procedure

PPE
REQUIRED

PRE-START CHECKS
1. Ensure all personnel are trained and authorized to operate the
CNC machine.
2. Inspect the machine for any visible damage, loose components, or
signs of wear.
3. Check that the work piece is securely clamped to the machine bed
or fixture.
4. Verify that the cutting tool is properly installed and secured in the
spindle.
5. Ensure that the machine is properly lubricated and that all fluids
are at the correct levels.
6. Confirm that fire extinguishing equipment is readily available in
case of emergency.

SAFE OPERATING PROCEDURE

1. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including
safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed-toe shoes.
2. Power on the CNC machine and initialize the control system
according to manufacturer's instructions.
3. Load the CNC program and verify the toolpath, cutting
parameters, and safety features.
4. Start the machining process and monitor the operation closely,
ensuring that the cutting tool follows the programmed path
accurately.
5. Be aware of any unusual noises, vibrations, or odors during
machining and investigate the cause if necessary.

6. If any issues or errors occur during machining, stop the machine

immediately and troubleshoot the problem before resuming.
7. After machining is complete, power off the CNC machine and
remove the finished work piece carefully to avoid damage.

Safety precautions:

1. Before operating the machine fully understand the control system of the machine.
2. Ensure that the machine has the proper input voltage and good earthling connectio
3. Before starting the machine check the possible crash areas, such as tailstock, tool t
clear.
4. Follow all the necessary safety precautions.
5. Do not wear the rings, watch, loose cloths etc. and avoid long hairs.
6. Wear the specified overalls, protection appliances, etc. Do not wear gloves.
7. Make sure that working area and floor should be clean.

3. Servo stabilizer - 01

Procedure:

1. Turn ON the MCB to start the main power supply.

2. Switch ON the servo stabilizer.

3. Turn ON the Switch which is located at back side of the machine.

4. Remove the moisture from the air compressor by using moisture release
valve.
S. After this Switch ON the air compressor.

6. Observe the air pressure from gauge and should be in between 5.5 Bar to 6.9
bar.
7. Press the "Power ON" key from the control pendant of VMC Machine

8. Cycle the door / guard of the machine.

9. After Display On , Release the Emergency stop switch by turning it to the

right side and allowing it to pop out.

Referencing of tool holder

 A tool holder is an adapter that mounts cutting tools in a machine
tool.
 Tool holders affect the machining accuracy and product quality of
machine tools.
 Tool holders need to be precision-engineered to offer the required
cutting accuracy and long-lasting performance.

To hold a CNC tool holder in a VMC machine, align the tool holder's
locating features (like a notch or keyway) with the corresponding features
on the spindle, carefully insert it into the spindle taper, and then tighten
the drawbar or collet nut to secure it firmly in place ; ensuring proper
alignment and torque is crucial for optimal machining performance.
Key steps:
Select the correct tool holder:
Choose a tool holder compatible with your VMC machine's spindle
taper (e.g., BT, CAT, HSK) and the type of cutting tool you want to
use.

Prepare the tool:

Insert your cutting tool into the tool holder and tighten the
appropriate clamping mechanism.
Align the tool holder:
Locate the alignment features (notch or keyway) on the tool holder
and spindle, ensuring they match up.
Insert the tool holder:
Carefully lower the tool holder into the spindle taper, maintaining
proper alignment.
Tighten the drawbar/collet nut:
Use the machine's designated tightening mechanism to firmly
secure the tool holder in the spindle.
Caution: Do not use tools that have these problems:
 Incorrect taper size
 Incorrect pull stud size or type
 Damaged tool taper
 Debris between the tool
taper and the spindle taper
 Tools with these problems
can cause damage to the
spindle.

AXIS IN MILLING MACHINE

The axes of a milling machine are the
directions that the spindle or part can
move. The most common axes are X, Y,
and Z.
X-axis Moves left and right and
Horizontal movement.
Y-axis Moves forward and
backward and Horizontal movement.
Z-axis Moves up and down and
Vertical movement.
Safety precautions:
1. Follow all the Necessary safety precaution and Start the machine by
following standard Operating Procedure
