Solved Questions:

1. Enter the following data in the entry sheet of SPSS. Prepare data entry
sheet in SPSS to enter the above variables (name, roll_no, age, weight (in kg),
sex).

Roll_no Name Age Weight Sex

1 Hari 22 46 1
2 Kesang 20 70 1
3 Dawa 19 45 2
4 Deepa 25 53 2
5 Raj 23 65 1
6 Rima 19 50 2

Solution:
2. Calculate mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance, range,
minimum, maximum value, skewness and kurtosis of the following data.

Name Age Weight

Kim 20 80
Hari 25 65
Reeta 50 60
Reena 45 65
Shyam 25 55
Rohan 25 60
Deepa 25 65
Sarala 20 50
Sara 25 45
Rajesh 50 55

Solution:
3. Enter the following values in SPSS and find the regression equation of y on x

X 2 5 5 8 5 9 8
Y 5 7 2 4 6 2 6
Solution:
We know Regression equation of y on x is
y=a + bx - - - (i)
From Coefficientsa table:
a=7.735, b= -0.380
Putting value of a and b in eqn (i),
y = 7.735, -0.380 *x which is the required regression equation of y on x.
4.Enter the following values in SPSS and find the regression equation of x on y.

x y
2 8
4 12
5 10
6 8
8 7
11 5
Solution:-
We know Regression equation of x on y is
x=a + by - - - (ii)
From Coefficientsa table:
a= 13.670 , b= -0.920
Putting value of a and b in eqn (ii),
x=13.670 - 0.920*y which is the required regression equation of x on y.
5. Enter the following values in SPSS and find the correlation between X on Y.

X 30 58 25 65 70 65
Y 20 50 45 65 45 60

Solution:-
6. From the following grouped data find mean, median, quartiles,
standard deviation and variance.
Wages (Rs.) 10-20 20-30 30-40 40-50 50-60 60-70 70-80
No. Of 2 5 6 22 34 21 9
persons

Solution:
7.Enter the following values in SPSS and create a Pie-chart, Bar-chart, Line-
Graph and Box-plot.

Vehicles Percentage
Car 24.50
Trucks 14.70
Motorcycles 16.80
Buses 23.00
Others 21.0

Solution: -
8. Enter the following value in SPSS and find the Karl Pearson’s Correlation
Coefficient.

X Y
25 58
29 52
28 65
30 70
18 51
24 62

Solution:-

Step 1: Declare Variable.

Step 2: Enter the value in Data view.

Step 3: Go to Analyze à Correlate à Bivariate.

Step 4: Put x and y in the variables section and click ok.

Then the Correlation coefficient will be shown as:

Conclusion:
Correlation Coefficient (r) = 0.580
