HW1:
The given table illustrates the changes in the expense of an average Australian
household every month in a decade.
Overall, the difference in entirety monthly spending of this family between 2000
and 2010 was not significant, and expenses on electricity, water, food, housing, and other
non-essential things witnessed an upward trend while the expenses on clothing and
transport declined over time.
There was a considerable increase in the consumption per month of electricity and
water, doubling from $75 in 2000 to $120 in 2010. Similarly, the expenditure on other
non-essential things saw a soar slightly by $20 over the same period. Simultaneously,
food and housing experienced a steady rise between the two surveyed years, with a
difference of $5, from $155 to $160 and $95 to $100 respectively.
Nevertheless, the expenditure on transport dropped dramatically from $70 in 2000
to $45 in 2010. This trend also occurred regarding clothing, accounting for $30 in 2000
and falling to $20 in 2010.
Based on the statistics, food and other goods and services have the most
significant expenditure among other categories. Both of them occupying for more than
half of the total. In comparison, Australians spent little on clothing and transportation.
