Title: Taylor Swift


General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience how Taylor Swift’s career started
her, success in the music industry, and the process of re-recording her old
albums.
Central idea: Taylor Swift is a global phenomenon even after being in the
music industry for over 18 years. Her incredible songwriting is what makes
her one of a kind, but her determination to own her music grew her fame
even more.
I. Introduction
A. Gaining Attention: “This is the story of a 12-year-old girl from
Pennsylvania who wanted her dream to come true. She went from
singing in bars to sold-out stadiums throughout the world”
B. Motivating the Audience: Taylor Swift is everywhere, so
learning more about her life could help the audience grasp the
excitement that’s surrounding her.
C. Establishing Credibility: Taylor Swift has been one of my
favorite artists for over five years, so I know a lot about her life’s
trajectory.
D. Preview of Main Ideas: I will describe her launch in the music
industry, the success of her albums because of her lyricism, her
successful tour, and the process of re-recording her old albums.

II. Body
A. Taylor Swift’s early start in the music industry
1. Taylor Swift was born in West Reading Pennsylvania on
December 13, 1989. As a young child, she took acting and
vocal classes, but later, she decided to focus on music, feeling
inspired by country artists like Shaina Twain.
a. At age 12 with the help of a computer repairman she
learned guitar and wrote her first song “Lucky”. That
was one of the many songs that Swift wrote as a
young aspiring musician.
2. When she was 14 years old her family moved to
Nashville for her to get more opportunities as an artist leading
her to sign her first record deal with Big Machine Records,
where she released her debut album “Taylor Swift”.
3. Her sophomore album “Fearless” won her first Grammy
for Album of the Year in 2009. Guiding her to win many
awards, which resulted in “Fearless” becoming one of the
most-awarded country albums.
B. Taylor Swift’s achievements and success
1. Taylor’s ongoing success is because of her lyricism.
Taylor Swift writes all her songs, showcasing exceptional
lyricism on every album.
a. Most of her songs are drawn from personal
experiences, and full of different emotions making
her songs easy to relate to.
1) Taylor Swift wrote “Soon You Will Get Better”
when her mom got sick, and it resonated with a
lot of people.
b. Taylor Swift recently won her 4th Grammy for Album
of the Year, making her the only female artist to hold
that record.
2. Taylor Swift is at the end of her worldwide tour, “The
Eras Tour”. She performs for 3 hours straight, singing songs
from each album era. And is one of the highest-earning
concert tours of all time.
C. Re-recording her old masters
1. Swift’s first 6 albums were sold for $330 million in 2019,
without her knowledge. This event led to her deciding to re-
record her albums under a different label to have rights over
her songs.
2. This process is ongoing, with Taylor Swift releasing 4 out
of the 6 albums. In the re-recordings, she also added
unreleased songs making the re-recordings more valuable
than the original. This was a business move to drive her
original albums off the market and charts.
III. Conclusion
A. Signaling the End: “This is the story of Taylor Swift”
B. Review of Main Points: Taylor Swift is one of the most
successful artists in the music industry, starting from a young age
her drive to make music led her to this level of success. Her lyrical
style creates an emotional connection with fans. Additionally, her
dedication to owning her music expanded her impact significantly.
C. Reference to Introduction: Taylor Swift's dream eventually
became her reality.
D. Ending with Impact: Taylor Swift has consistently proven
herself to be a remarkably successful artist.
