C Reading
Read the article about unusual museums and choose the correct answer for each question.

Unusual Museums
From the Culture Reporter
A community in Nepal is opening its own museum later this year to record history and culture. Older people in
Nepal’s Himalayan village communities are worried that younger people were forgetting their history and
culture. With help from a local charity, they built a new museum to keep this history alive. This is a museum
with a small focus, but it is not the only one. Read on for more unique museums.

Miniature Museums
Some museums, called mini museums, are so small that only one person can enter at a time. In Yorkshire, a
group of people have created a museum out of an old red phone booth. These phone booths are everywhere,
but no one uses them anymore because everyone carries a phone with them. The museum makes good use
of the small space to show interesting items linked to the village. People change the exhibition often, so there
is always something new to see. Another mini museum exists in the Thai city of Phuket where the back room
of a cafe has a huge collection of tiny toy cars. Every wall has shelves of old and new toy cars. The owner of
the cafe has collected these cars over many years.

Museums show people’s lives

Houses as Museums
Then there are museums that tell the stories of the people who lived there. Some of the best museums are
the old homes of interesting people. Anne Frank’s House in Amsterdam and Sigmund Freud’s House in Vienna
are famous examples. It can also be fascinating to see the home of ordinary people like the Georgian House
Museum in Bristol. Seeing the furniture, style, and menus that belonged to people who lived hundreds of
years ago can make you think more about how you live your own life now.

Future Museums
Museums can be a window on history, culture, and life. We can only imagine now what the museums of the
future will show of our lives. What would you like to see displayed in a museum?

1 Each paragraph of the text introduces the museums.
