The Proactive Cycle: Group Business Report

The following document contains the instructions for a term deliverable, which has been divided
into multiple components. However, as a part of the deliverable, you will be tasked with multiple
submissions across the semester.

The purpose of the activity is to bring you out of the comfort zone and acts as a measure to
inculcate proactiveness, which will help you in the long run.

Campus life and corporate life are two different aspects of life, with varying conditions and
circumstances. The exercise intends to put you into in a post-graduate, work life simulation.

Furthermore, the activity intends to make one realize that the “starting near the deadline” attitude
is highly discouraged and unhealthy, not only in this course, but in the life ahead. At times, you
will be asked of progress on your work, even if the work was delegated to you yesterday and the
deadline is two weeks from now. You will be exposed to similar circumstances in this activity.

Team work in essence of time management, planning, execution, conflict management,

accountability, documentation, research, report writing are just one of the few intended learning
outcomes of this exercise. Please read the following instructions.

Teams
You will rarely get a chance to work in self-made teams in the future. Therefore, the teams for
the project will be chosen by the instructor.

Submissions
There will be four submissions for the term deliverable.

Topic

In the dynamic landscape of business, challenges and tensions frequently arise across various
functions, including marketing, supply chain, finance, and operations. Understanding how
organizations identify, analyze, and resolve these challenges provides valuable insights into
problem-solving and decision-making. This assignment is designed to help you research a
specific company and its real-world challenges, ultimately preparing a case analysis report.

Objectives and Deliverables

Develop Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

 Research a significant challenge or problem faced by a company in the past or present.

 Analyze how the company addressed the issue, evaluate alternative solutions, and
identify opportunities.

Enhance Research and Writing Skills

 Gather credible sources, maintain a research log, and present findings in a structured
report.

Provide Actionable Insights

 Summarize the lessons learned from the case and offer recommendations for future
strategies or similar scenarios.

Getting Started

Topic Selection
Choose a specific issue or tension that a company has faced. The challenge could belong to any
business function or niche. Examples include (these are just examples don’t restrict yourself to
these):

 Marketing: A failed campaign, misaligned branding, or ineffective customer outreach.

 Supply Chain: Disruptions, inefficiencies, or sustainability concerns.

 Finance: Cash flow issues, cost overruns, or investment failures.

 Human Resources: Talent retention, workplace culture, or diversity challenges.

Therefore, choose your topic wisely.

The Work Plan:

Submission 2: The work plan should detail the division of responsibilities among team members
and outline the tasks to be completed.
Progress Reports
Submission 3 & 4: However, any individual member will be randomly asked to provide
progress reports, on the group progress, at various stages of the semester. The progress reports
can be asked for at any time during the semester. There will be 2 progress reports throughout the
semester.

A template for the progress reports has been attached below. Once again, these can be asked for
any time throughout the semester, from any student in any order.

Allocation of Progress Reports

The members tasked with submitting the progress report, will be conveyed 2 to 3 days prior to
submission date. Therefore, every group member should have an idea of the progress the group
has made throughout the semester. You can be asked to submit a progress report, at any time
throughout the semester. Therefore, be proactive and top of your game!

The Final Report

Submission 5: The group will submit one final report, towards the end of the semester, at a
deadline provided by the instructor.
