Technical Knowledge and Experience:

1. Describe a project where you were involved in the design,
implementation, or maintenance of renewable energy systems.
What was your role, and what technologies were involved?
I have not been involved in renewable energy design, implementation or
maintenance projects. However, in university I did a professional
emphasis on alternative generation sources, where I learned about the
design and installation of photovoltaic generation. I would highlight my
experience working at WSP in the design of medium and low voltage
electrical networks, where I had the opportunity to learn about the
detailed design in order to be able to generate the calculation memories
and budget necessary for each project. Although I do not have the
experience participating in the mentioned projects, I would emphasize
my innate ability to learn and adapt quickly to new areas of knowledge.

2. How do you approach troubleshooting and resolving technical

issues in wind or solar energy systems? Please provide a specific
example.
For the localization and solution of technical problems related to the
systems I would propose the monitoring of system performance in order
to detect anomalies. In addition, basic electrical tests that allow
verification of continuity, resistance, current or voltage, which are values
that allow identification of whether the system is at its nominal values or
if there are anomalies. I would suggest continuous logging of system
operating data so that patterns and trends can be identified. A common
example would be a decrease in performance of the solar panels due to
dirt or dust accumulation, this could be identified with the historical
record of the system operation and would be solved by scheduled
cleaning, and would be avoided by preventive maintenance according to
weather conditions and historical record.
3. Discuss a time when you had to adapt a project to meet changing
specifications or overcome unexpected challenges. How did you
ensure the project remained on track?
The electrical network design project started with a preliminary design,
which was evaluated for feasibility in the field. According to the
information gathered in the field, if changes to the initial design were
required because they were unfeasible, a solution had to be identified
and the design had to be adapted according to these new needs. I had
to identify a solution and adapt the design according to these new
needs. In general, I prioritized the activities according to their duration
and importance and with this in mind I delivered according to their
prioritization.

4. Explain the importance of API standards (for Mechanical

Engineers) or electrical standards (for Electrical Engineers) in
renewable energy projects. Can you share an experience where
adherence to these standards was critical to your project’s
success?
In general, in projects related to electrical installations in Colombia it is
mandatory to follow the API standards because they guarantee the
necessary safety and quality. There was a particular case where the
design of the electrical networks had to be changed to a compact
assembly because the minimum safety distances between the structure
and the electrical installations were not met.
5. Given the dynamic nature of renewable energy technologies, how
do you stay updated with the latest developments in the field? Can
you mention any recent advancement that has caught your
attention?
I would say that the integration of demand-side management
technologies through smart grids to improve the efficiency of the power
system and increase its sustainability, it is an advance that caught my
attention. It seems to me an excellent alternative because it relies
mainly on conscious and rational use of energy, in addition to its
optimization through various methods. I usually keep myself informed
through the news section of the IEEE website, where they publish news
on the most relevant developments in the sector.

Soft Skills and Competencies:

6. Collaboration is crucial in multidisciplinary projects. Can you share
an experience where effective teamwork led to the success of a
renewable energy project?
7. Describe a situation where you had to communicate complex
technical information to a non-technical audience. How did you
ensure your message was understood?
8. Time management and meeting deadlines are essential in this
role. How do you prioritize tasks in a project with multiple
deadlines?
9. Adaptability is key in the field of renewable energies. Can you tell
us about a time when you had to adapt quickly to a change in a
project or work environment? What was the outcome?
10. Professional growth is a continuous process. What are your
long-term professional development goals in the field of renewable
energies, and how do you plan to achieve them?
