I. INTRODUCTION:
Literacy and numeracy skills are crucial for accessing the broader
curriculum when used in many aspects of our lives. Obtaining an acceptable level of
literacy and numeracy can greatly enhance learners’ achievement because they are
used in many aspects of their lives. Workplace numeracy, literacy and employability
skills are often used in conjunction with one another. These required skills often
overlap and are necessary for any task. Literacy, refers to the capability one
acquires in order to read, understand, and construct textual material. This ability is
useful in regular academic and non-academic situations and contexts within the
school community and in different occupational areas. Literacy is not confined to
merely learning to read and write; it also encompasses a range of more complex
skills including the ability to apprehend ideas and concepts while Numeracy, refers
to the ability to understand and use mathematical knowledge for calculating, problem
solving, and interpreting information in order to arrive at educated and well-informed
decisions. Numeracy is an important skill for learners to master to help them prepare
for life beyond the school and within the workplace and greater community.
With this, The Department of Education create a program to enhance the
ability of the learners in literacy and Numeracy through National Learning Camp.
DepEd will roll out its learning recovery program, the National Learning Camp (NLC),
from July 1 to July 23,2024. This is a voluntary three- to four-week learning recovery
program designed to benefit K to 12 learners in public elementary and secondary
schools. And, based on the specific needs of the learners, they shall be enrolled in
one of three Camps: Enhancement Camp, Consolidation Camp, or Intervention
Camp. To help close learning gaps, the Department of Education (DepEd) is set to
roll out the National Learning Camp (NLC) for school year 2023-2024 on August 1,
2024.

III. METHODOLOGY
The Department of Education (DepEd) rolled out a National Learning Camp that
would not only improve learning outcomes among students, but also make teachers
teach better. The program was laid out under DepEd Order 014, Series of 2023.
In collaboration with NLC, Kilada Elementary School complied with the order and
immediately prepare, plan, and take an action on how to properly execute the learning
camp during the 2023-2024 End-of-School Year break. 4 committed teachers were
involved and taught children rigorously. The following report reflects the program's
execution, with a total of 40 learners.
Below are the individuals who supported the activity and the support
they’ve given.
VI. RESULTS
Kilada Elementary School conducted and participated the National
Learning Camp (NLC) implemented by the Department of Education (DepEd).
Based on the data, pupils who participated of NLC improved their literacy and
numeracy skills, it is evident that the implementation of the program was very
effective. We’re honoured to be part of this activity and we are happy to see that
the children are improving their literacy and numeracy skills.
VIII. SOLUTIONS
Feeding program
Giving of rewards from NLC Volunteers
Ask assistance/ support in terms of going to school from the parents
Ask assistance from the BLGU
IX. RECOMMENDATION
