ABSTRACT

One essential component of the learning environment is

the incorporation of technology into education. The rapid

advancement of technology has significantly permeated the

education sector, prompting a shift in the way

educational content is delivered and consumed. This study

aims to determine the impact of Technology Integration on

Student Engagement and Academic Performance of Grade 11

Students of Gallanosa National High School. This study

used descriptive method to identify the impact of

technology integration on student engagement and academic

performance with survey questionnaire as research

instrument. The researchers used simple random technique

to determine the subjects of the study. Based on the

findings of the study, it shows that integrating

technology in the classroom and in educational settings

had a positive impact on student engagement and academic

performance. The various strategies presented for

integrating technology as a learning tool in education

can positively improve student engagement and academic

performance. Since, the impact of technology can be both

positive and negative depending on how it is used.

Specifying particular technological tools can help

increase the support of technology from low impact to

good facilitation of technological engagement and


performance by the students. Additionally, the possible ways

to maintain the positive impact of technology on student

engagement and academic performance are recommended to be

utilized by the Grade 11 students of Gallanosa National High

School. But the effectiveness depends on the teachers and

curriculum planners on how they would use this to help the

learners have meaningful and interactive learning with

technology.
Introduction

One essential component of the learning environment is

the incorporation of technology into education. The rapid

advancement of technology has significantly permeated the

education sector, prompting a shift in the way

educational content is delivered and consumed.

Integrating technology is the use of technology tools in

general content areas of education in order to allow

students to apply computer and technology skills to

learning and problem-solving. Furthermore, it is

utilizing technology tools in education, such as

computers, to support the learners by enhancing their

learning experiences and fostering engagement in their

academic environment.

Amidst an era characterized by technological ubiquity,

this study seeks to understand how technology integration

influences student engagement and academic performance.

There is agreement that there has been a significant

increase in technology investment in the educational

sector all over the world in the past two decades. They

are hoping that integrating computers into the learning

process can enable students to improve their learning as

well as minimize the workload on instructors (Murad, M.

et al. 2019). The Department of Education also provides

an opportunity for learners and teachers to implement


technology by distributing computers and other

technological tools that can be used in school activities

to make executing academic content easier. Murad, M. et

al. (2019) added that, some of the benefits of

implementing technology in basic education include making

learning more interactive and less boring. It improves

students attitudes’ towards knowledge and their interest

in learning.

Understanding the relationship between these two

variables, student engagement and academic performance,

in the context of technology integration is crucial to

informing educational strategies and policies.

This study is undertaken to attempt to justify whether

the integration of technology has a significant effect on

the engagement and academic performance of Grade 11

students. Understanding how educational technology

affects student outcomes will become crucial as it

develops in order to improve teaching strategies and

create a more productive learning environment. In order

to persuade successful implementation for the best and

ignite the improvement capacity level of the learners by

combining the knowledge and skills interconnected in the

technology that already exists in this era.


This study plays a crucial role in society as it explores

the impact of technology integration in the learning

environment. The municipality can see, in a broader

sense, and understand the influence of technology in the

learning environment and the potential low impact of

technology in the educational sector.

This study aims to provide insights that will guide

educators, policymakers, and other curriculum planners in

making informed decisions regarding technology

integration in education. The findings of this study

could also be instrumental in shaping future research and

practice in this field. The information gathered in this

academic research can help implement suggestions for

future researchers to further study the impact of

technology on learners' engagement and academic

performance.
