Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Technology for Grade 2

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

 Understand what digital safety means in simple terms,

 identify basic rules for staying safe online,
 practice safe online behaviors through interactive activities.

II. Subject Matter:

 Content: Digital Safety Basics for Young Learners

 Lesson: Introduction to Digital Safety Rules
 Topic: Staying Safe Online for Grade 2
 Values Integration: Responsibility and careful use of technology
 References: Educational videos and handouts on digital safety for
children
 Instructional Materials: Storybook about online safety, flashcards,
props for role-playing

III. Procedures:

A. Preliminaries:

1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of attendance
4. Asking students if they use devices like tablets or phones, followed by
a short discussion about their favorite online games or apps

B. Motivation:
Read a short, engaging story about a character (e.g., “Timmy the Tech-Safe Turtle”) who learns
how to use the internet safely. Ask the students:

 “What did Timmy do to stay safe online?”

 “What would you do if you saw something strange on a device?”
C. Lesson Proper:

1. Teaching/Modeling
o Introduce digital safety:
 “Digital safety means knowing how to use computers,
tablets, or phones without getting into trouble or danger.”
o Explain three simple rules:
 Rule 1: Always ask a parent or teacher before going online.
 Rule 2: Never talk to strangers online or share personal
information like your name, school, or address.
 Rule 3: If you see something that makes you feel scared or
confused, tell an adult you trust.

2. Analysis/Abstraction
o Show pictures or flashcards of safe and unsafe online actions.
o Ask:
 “Is it okay to talk to someone you don’t know online?”
 “Who will you tell if you see something bad on your tablet
or phone?”

3. Guided Practice
o Role-play activity:
 Give scenarios (e.g., a stranger sends a message in a
game, an ad pops up asking for personal details).
 Let students act out the correct safe behavior.

IV. Application
Provide students with coloring sheets showing Timmy the Turtle holding a sign that says “Be
Safe Online!” Ask them to color it and write one digital safety rule they learned.

V. Generalization:
Review the three digital safety rules and emphasize their importance. Use a simple chant to help
students remember:

 "Ask, Don’t Share, Tell!"

VI. Assessment:
Observe students during the role-play activity and their ability to identify safe actions. Assess
their coloring sheets for understanding (e.g., rule written correctly).

VII. Assignment:
Ask students to talk to their parents about what they learned and draw a picture of how they stay
safe while using the internet at home.
