Exercise 1
Look at the phrase marker for the phrase “Animals from the zoo.”
Now draw a phrase marker for the following phrases:
1. Busy fresh fruit markets
2. New central fruit markets
3. Gas appliances from Italy
4. Locally grown vegetable sales
5. Several very noisy newspaper sellers
6. Ten fully automatic deluxe hair driers
7. Students doing chemistry in September
8. Students with long hair doing chemistry in September
Exercise 2
Identify the type of relation (modification or complementation) between the sister
constituents in the phrase marker of structure (8) in exercise 1.
