ONLINE FIRE DETECTION
AND ALERT SYSTEM
Introduction :
Fire safety systems play a crucial role in minimizing damage and
saving lives during emergencies. Traditional systems often rely
solely on sound alarms, which may not be effective in all
scenarios, especially if no one is present to hear the alarm. This
project introduces an IoT-based fire detection system that
addresses these limitations by incorporating real-time alerts via
phone calls and visual indicators such as flashlights. The system
ensures that house owners are promptly informed of any fire
incidents, allowing for immediate action.
Components Used :
ESP32 Microcontroller: This serves as the brain of the system,
enabling Wi-Fi connectivity and processing input from the fire
sensor. Its compact size and low power consumption make it ideal
for IoT applications.

Fire Sensor: This component detects the presence of fire or flames.

It works by infrared radiation emitted by flames, signaling the
ESP32 when fire is present.
HOW DOES IT WORK :
The system operates through the following steps:

1.Detection: The fire sensor continuously monitors its

surroundings for flames or significant heat sources. When it
detects a fire, it sends a high signal to the ESP32 microcontroller.

2.Processing: Upon receiving the signal from the sensor, the ESP32
processes the input and activates the alert mechanism.
3.Alert System: The ESP32 connects to a pre-configured Wi-Fi
network and sends a command to make a phone call to the house
owner. This ensures that the owner is immediately informed of the
fire incident.

4.Visual Warning: Simultaneously, the system activates flashlights

to provide a visual indicator of the fire’s location, which can assist
in identifying and addressing the issue more effectively
Advantages :
• Real-time Alerts: Ensures immediate notification via phone calls,
which are more effective than traditional alarms.

• Cost-Effective: Uses minimal and affordable components.

• Easy Installation: Simple setup process makes it accessible to non-

technical users.

• Enhanced Visibility: Flashlights act as an additional safety feature

by highlighting the fire’s location.
Future Advancements :

• Battery Backup: Integrating a rechargeable battery to ensure

functionality during power outages.

• Multiple Communication Channels: Adding support for

notifications via SMS, email, or mobile applications to enhance
reliability.

• Cloud Storage: Utilizing cloud platforms to store fire detection

data for analysis and improvement in safety measures.
• Integration with Smart Home Systems: Expanding the system to
interface with other smart devices, such as sprinkler systems, for
automated fire suppression.

• Advanced Sensors: Incorporating multi-spectrum sensors to

improve accuracy and reduce false alarms caused by non-fire heat
sources
