MATHEMATICS:
MARKS : 40
TIME : 1.5 Hrs (90min)
SECTIONS :3
SECTION A : 16 Q, of 1 mark each (2 min per Q)
SECTION B : 6 Q of 2 marks each (4 min per Q)
SECTION C : 3 Q of 4 marks each (8 min per Q)
POINTS TO REMEMBER:
1. Preparation:
a. Solve MCQ practice papers and tests perfectly with a
timer.
b. Redo all the sums that you get wrong in practice sheets
and tests, with proper working so as to not repeat your
mistakes.
2. Time yourself while doing the paper so that you do not waste
more than prescribed time on any sum. 2 min per 1 mark Q
3. Read the question twice.
4. Do not leave any question unanswered.
5. Rough work:
a. Write the data properly before you start solving
b. Do the working for all the sums neatly on the pages
provided in the question cum answer booklet
c. Diagrams to be drawn for all similarity and inequations
sums, in the rough, so that you do not make any error in
selecting the answers.
d. Check your calculations doubly and then go to the next
sum, do not leave checking for the end.

6. Presentation:
a. Do not write anything on the answer sheet
b. Be very neat; do not overwrite nor do any cancellations
in the paper.
c. Under any circumstances , If you have to change your
answer, cancel the previous answer and write the
answer neatly besides it, so as to not affect your entire
presentation.
7. Selection of answers:
a. Avoid working backward from the alternatives, however
you can do so for back checking, especially in factor
theorem, arithmetic progression and quadratic
equations.
b. If answer is pertaining to amount, select answer with 2
decimal places.
c. Read all the options properly , then select your answer
d. If diagrams are given as options be careful to observe all
points correctly and in detail, before final selection.
e. If there are 2 conditions in the question, then check that
your answer satisfies both the conditions.
f. Select answers with proper units.
8. Last 10 min – check the paper properly
9. Do not panic, nor unnecessarily hurry for anything.
2. Linear inequations:
a. Number line should have arrowhead on both the sides of the line
along with minimum 2 numbers extra on either side.

b. Solution set for natural / whole / integers should always be in
rooster form or list method.
c. Solution set for real numbers should always be in set builder
form.
d. Solution should be left in mixed fraction or decimals but not
improper fractions.
𝟐
e. Ex: When 2 needs to be marked; then divide the area between
𝟑
𝟐
2 and 3 into 3 equal parts and then show 2 𝟑 on the number line
(useful while selecting the diagram options).
3. Quadratic equations:
a. Learn and use the formula for finding roots.
b. Always substitute in the formula first and then solve it.
c. Do not leave your answer in fractions.
d. Solution set is a must for quadratic.
e. For word problems, draw the diagram in rough
f. Learn all the nature of the roots properly
5. Factor Theorem:
a. Use any division method – long form or horner’s.
b. If you have to find the factors then: Start with let x-1 be the
factor, then x+1, , x-2, x+2, x-3 and lastly x+3
c. If a factor is already given (for ex. X-1 is a factor given) then
always: Start with the given factor : x-1.
d. While writing Final factors, do not choose the answer with comas
in between them.

e. If question is to factorize the polynomial, write answer in product
form. Ex: f(x) = (x + 3)(x + 2)(x + 1)
6. Matrices:
a. If order of a matrix is asked then always use elements in the
working of the matrix.
b. Do proper steps in multiplication of matrices.
7. Similarity:
a. First draw the given triangle.
b. Then separate all the overlapping triangles and mark the similar
angles or sides so as to diagrammatically prove the triangles to
be similar.
c. Then always list out the corresponding sides of the similar
triangles.
d. Then start finding the numerical values.
e. For finding the ratios of areas of the triangles use proper
formulae.
8. Arithmetic Progression:
a. Identify the first term, last term, difference and no of terms.
b. Write the correct formula, then substitute and solve.
9. General points:
a. Rupees should always be written in 2 decimal points.
+
b. Square root is always written with both signs.
c. Always solve all division answers by finding 3 decimal points and
then rounding it off to 2 decimal points.
d. If income tax is to be calculated it is always deducted from the
amount payable.
e. In your answer, if the denominator is irrational then rationalize
your answers.
f. Solution set is a must for quadratic and linear inequations.
