CBSE Class 12 Physics Important Formulas, Problems & Solutions

## 1. Electrostatics**Formulas:**- Coulomb's Law: F = (1 / 4piepsilon) * (qq / r)- Electric Field: E =

(1 / 4piepsilon) * (q / r)- Electric Potential: V = (1 / 4piepsilon) * (q / r)**Practice Problems &
Solutions:**1. Two charges of +3 uC and -2 uC are placed 10 cm apart in vacuum. Calculate the
force between them. - **Solution:** F = (9 x 10) x (3 x 10) x (-2 x 10) / (0.1) = -5.4 N (Negative sign
indicates attraction).2. Find the electric field at a point 5 cm away from a charge of +4 uC in air. -
**Solution:** E = (9 x 10) x (4 x 10) / (0.05) = 1.44 x 10 N/C---## 2. Current Electricity**Formulas:**-
Ohm's Law: V = IR- Resistance in Series: R_eq = R + R + ...- Resistance in Parallel: 1 / R_eq = 1 /
R + 1 / R + ...- Drift Velocity: v_d = (-eEtau / m)**Practice Problems & Solutions:**1. A 6Ohm and a
3Ohm resistor are connected in parallel. Find the equivalent resistance. - **Solution:** 1 / R_eq = 1
/ 6 + 1 / 3 = 1 / 2 => R_eq = 2Ohm2. The current through a conductor is 3A. If the number density of
electrons is 5 x 10 per cubic meter, find the drift velocity. (Given: charge of an electron e = 1.6 x 10
C, area = 10 m) - **Solution:** v_d = I / (nAe) = 3 / (5 x 10 x 10 x 1.6 x 10) 3.75 x 10 m/s---## 3.
Magnetism**Formulas:**- Magnetic Force on a Moving Charge: F = q v B sintheta- Magnetic Field
Due to a Long Straight Current-Carrying Wire: B = (u I / 2pir)**Practice Problems & Solutions:**1. A
proton moves perpendicular to a magnetic field of 0.2 T with a velocity of 5 x 10 m/s. Find the force
on the proton. (Given: charge of proton = 1.6 x 10 C) - **Solution:** F = (1.6 x 10) x (5 x 10) x 0.2 =
1.6 x 10 N2. A wire carrying 5A current creates a magnetic field of 2 x 10 T at a distance. Find the
distance from the wire. (Given: u = 4pi x 10 Tm/A) - **Solution:** r = (u I) / (2pi B) = (4pi x 10 x 5) /
(2pi x 2 x 10) = 5 x 10 m = 5 cm---(Similar solutions will be added for other sections...) **Good luck
with your CBSE Class 12 Physics Board Exam!**
