3. What is a chemical reaction? Explain the different types of chemical reactions with examples.
4. Explain the transportation and excretion in human beings.
SECTION D
1. Read the following passage.
The Tyndall effect is related to scattering of light. The blue colour of the sky, colour of water in the
deep sea, the reddish colour of sun at sunrise and sunset are the colourful phenomenon of light
related to scattering. The spreading of light when it strikes to small dust particles, smoke particles
which are present in the air is called as scattering of light. When we will send the beam of light through
the true solution, we will observe the path of beam is not visible. While in case of colloidal solution
the path of the beam is visible because of colloidal particles which are somewhat larger in size. We
know that atmosphere contains large number of very small particles it means it is a heterogeneous
mixture which contains smoke particles, tiny water droplets, suspended particles of dust and air.
When light passes through such a heterogeneous mixture the path of the light becomes visible
because it strikes with such particles. This effect is called as Tyndall effect. Sometimes we can see the
visible beam of light entering the smoke-filled room through a small hole. In canopy of dense forest
also, the light coming shows the visible path. Here the scattering of light is due to the water droplets
present in the mist. In case of scattering of light, if the particles are having very small size, then the
light scattered more is of shorter wavelength that is blue colour and scattered red light is less of longer
wavelength.
A. Scattering of light
B. Refraction of light
TEST 2 (MATHEMATICS)
SECTION A
1. Find the LCM and HCF of 510 and 92 and verify that LCM x HCF = product of the two numbers.
3. On comparing the ratios, find out whether the lines representing the following pairs of pairs of
linear equations intersect at a point, are parallel or coincident:
A. 5x – 4y + 8 = 0, 7x + 6y – 9 = 0
B. 2x – 3y = 8, 4x – 6y = 9
SECTION B
1. Solve the following pairs of linear equations by the substitution method.
A. x+y=14 and x-y=4
B. 3x/2 – 5y/3 = -2 and x/3 + y/2 = 13/6
3. The difference between two numbers is 26 and one number is three times the other. Find them.
4. Solve 2x + 3y = 11 and 2x – 4y = -24 and hence find the value of ‘m’ for which y=mx+3
5. Find the zeros of the following quadratic polynomials and verify the relationship between zeroes
and the coefficients.
A. x2 - 2x – 8
B. 6x2 – 3 – 7x
C. 4u2 + 8u
D. T2 – 15
7. There is a circular path around a sports field. Sonia takes 18 minutes to drive one round of the field,
while Ravi takes 12 minutes for the same. Suppose they both start at the same point and at the
same time, and go in the same direction. After how many minutes will they meet again at the
starting point?
