Period:5 Topic: More fraction, like and unlike fraction SLO’(s): Students will be able to identify fraction, name and write unit fractions no unit fraction, like fraction and unlike fraction. Skills: Identifying, critical thinking, collaborating. Resource: Av aids, book, board. Methodology: I will begin by introducing the basic concept of fractions as part of a whole, showing both visual representations and numerical representations then I will Explain the terms "numerator" (top number) and "denominator" (bottom number). Afterwards I will use visuals to illustrate these parts in various examples uses visuals like fraction circles or bar models to show the challenge of comparing unlike fractions. Activity: Practice of fraction was done in three groups. Some questions for practice were provided. Which engage student participation, understanding and collaborating. Success criteria: The student correctly identifies like and unlike fractions. The student actively engaged in the activity, correctly matching fractions and were showing response. Assessment for learning: Informal Observation, class discussion. Class work: Relevant pages of course book and workbook. Wrap up: By review of previous topics and asking kids about the lecture. Lesson evaluation: The lesson was effective in engaging students and helping them practice fraction addition with like and unlike fractions. Students who needed extra help could benefit from more direct instruction on finding common denominators.
