A DSLR, Mirrorless, or point-and-shoot camera (optional)

Course Objective: In this middle school photography class, students will be introduced to the
fundamentals of photography, exploring both technical and creative aspects of the art form. Through a
combination of theory, hands-on practice, and critique sessions, students will develop their
understanding of composition, lighting, camera settings, and editing techniques. This course aims to
foster artistic expression and critical thinking while instilling a passion for visual storytelling through
photography.
Course Overview:

- Using Classroom Cameras: Each student will be responsible for camera care and maintenance.
If there is any damage from negligence or misbehavior, the student as well as their parent(s) and
or guardian(s) will be responsible for compensating Academir Charter School Middle for any
repairs needed or camera replacement. Students are responsible for classroom pickup and
organization at the end of every class.

Classroom Rules:

 All Students are expected to be respectful to everyone


 All Students are expected to be respectful to classroom equipment
 No food or drink in the music room
 All Students are expected to have their binders
 All Students will be accountable of their work and actions
 Students are expected to be sitting at their assigned seat

Late Work Policy:

Upon returning to school after an absence, a student has the responsibility within the number of
days equal to the length of the absence or suspension to meet with the teacher to develop a plan for
making up missed work, quizzes, and examinations. Students may not be given opportunities for
turning in late work from an unexcused absence.

Cheating Policy:

Each student is responsible for his or her own work. Any student caught cheating will result
in an immediate “Z” for the assignment and a referral at the discretion of the teacher. Any referral
may result in a detention, suspension, or expulsion at the discretion of the administration.
Grading Scale/Policy
A = 100 - 90
B = 89 - 80
C = 79 - 70
D = 69 - 60
F = 59 – 0
I = Incomplete
Z = Did not complete the assignment
X = Excused from assignment
