Teacher Ivan O. Danay Learning Area Mathematics

Time & January 22, 2025 Quarter 3rd
Dates

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of combinatorics and
probability.
B. Performance The learner is able to use precise counting technique and probability in
Standards formulating conclusions and making decisions.
C. Learning illustrates events, and union and intersection of events. (M10SP-IIIf-1)
Competencies/Objectives
II. CONTENT
At the end of the period, the learners are able to:
a. Define and differentiate the concepts of basic concepts of probability and
events.;
b. Demonstrate appreciation for the concept of probability by actively
participating in discussions and collaborative problem-solving activities;
and
c. appreciate the importance knowing the concept of probability and
events.
III. LEARNING
RESOURCES
A. References • MATH10-Q3-MODULE29.pdf
• G10LAS - Q3 - Week 6 - Illustrates Events, and Union and Intersection
of Events PDF
IV. PROCEDURES
- Finding r and n.
A. Reviewing previous - 𝒏 ≥ 𝒓, n is always greater than or equal to r.
lesson or presenting the - Formula Generation – Depends the value of r. (When finding n)
new lesson - Use of designated formulas to find the value of r. (Both Permutation and
Combination)

C. Presenting Probability: The likelihood of something happening; it measures the

examples/instances of
the new lesson chance of an event occurring.

Experiment: An activity, such as tossing a coin or rolling a dice, that has

observable results.

Outcome: The possible result of an experiment (e.g., heads or tails in a

coin toss).

Sample Space: The set of all possible outcomes for an experiment (e.g.,
{heads, tails} for a coin toss or {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6} for rolling a dice).
Event: A subset of the sample space, representing one or more
outcomes (e.g., rolling an even number with a dice: {2, 4, 6}).

Simple Event: An event that involves a single element of the sample

space (e.g., rolling a 3 with a dice: {3}).

In symbols, if E is an event, then the probability of E is denoted by P(E), and it

is defined by the formula
