Some people prefer to provide help and support directly to those in need.

Others,
however, prefer to give money to charitable organizations launched by celebrities
Discuss both views and give your opinions.
There has been heated debate on charitable acts to help disadvantaged
communities in developing nations. While some individuals engage in directly in voluntary
programs, others make financial donations to charity initiatives founded by famous public
figures. In this essay, I will elaborate on both perspectives before justifying my stand on the
matter.
On the one hand, those supporting donating money to charity corporations
managed by celebrities have their rationales. Firstly, philanthropic institutions can help
people unable to participate in voluntary programs assist underprivileged ethnics effectively.
For instance, individuals with rigorous working schedule like doctors or engineers may not
have enough spare time to support disadvantaged communities directly and by making
donations to charitable organizations, who will utilize their money to provide food, medicine,
clothing and other basic needs to those in need, they can still fulfill their altruism. Secondly,
volunteering initiatives can bring long-term benefits to communities they help. If properly
managed, such programs can enable the local economy to become more self-reliant and
resilient through financial and human assistances, ultimately independent of foreign aid and
develop sustainably.
On the other hand, people advocating support impoverish communities directly for
myriad justifications. The most prominent reason is that participation in volunteering acts is
beneficial to one’s development as a human being. Volunteering can enrich participants’
knowledge and experience, helping them to acquire new cultural understanding as well as
obtain personal skills such as communication and teamwork, all of which can have future
career prospects. Furthermore, direct engagement in philanthropic programs strengthen a
sense of community. Face-to-face contact between volunteers and indigenous population
can foster an environment of mutual cooperation and connection, in which individuals from
almost every walk of life unite towards a shared goal, be it teacher, lawyer or worker. As a
result, misunderstandings and biases caused by social, economic and cultural barriers can
be addressed, ultimately enhance social cohesion and inclusion.
In my opinion, I believe that direct participation in voluntary programs is more
beneficial to disadvantaged communities. Although charitable corporations founded by
famous public figures can help poverty-stricken people on a large scale efficiently and time-
effectively, there exists risks of embezzlement in such organizations. If celebrities exploit
donated money dedicated to help impoverish people for their own personal benefits, they
can result in an insufficient allocation of fund and therefore, perpetuating or even
exacerbating existing social crises affecting disadvantaged communities in developing
countries such as poverty, starvation and diseases. In contrast, people engaging in the
volunteering process itself can act as observer to ensure donated resources can reach it
original recipients, the poor.
In conclusion, opinions are divided upon whether people should participate in
volunteering programs or making financial donations to philanthropic institutions. From my
perspective, I am convinced that direct engagement in voluntary initiatives can reap more
benefits for both participants and impoverish people for the aforementioned reasons.
Therefore, it is imperative that charity corporations and authorities make conditions for
generous and benevolent individuals to provide assistance to those in need directly, for the
sake of a fairer, healthier and more interconnected society.
