Hi, everybody! It is time to learn! Today, let us learn about
Artists and Artisans.
In the art world, artists and artisans made creative and
magnificent arts seen by people and deeply appreciated. Both
contributed to human progress, and culture preservation.
To differentiate them, an artist is a talented individual who
work with paint through visual arts like painting, drawing, and
other artistic designs for aesthetic value of an art. While an
artisan is a skilled worker who make things by hand from
furniture to jewelry for practical and decorative value of an art.
In art making, both communicate with viewers through
the medium and techniques used in the production process to
materialize their concept. In painting, a painter uses water colour,
oil, or crayon. In sculpture, a sculptor uses stone, wood, or steel.
In music, a musician uses melody and lyrics. Likewise, other forms
of art have their media ready for the production process in making
an art.
Nevertheless, they used appropriate techniques as methods,
or a means of using the medium to finish a particular art. Here
are some of the techniques: Blowing is a technique in producing
a figure through blowing an air into a molten glass; Throwing is
a popular technique in making pottery; Coloring is painting
through watercolors, colored pencils, or crayons; and Cutting is a
fabulous technique in wood carving.
However, art products from artists and artisans should be
managed by stakeholders who are the right people to do sales,
purchase, collections, exhibits, and promote arts. These are those

people: 1) Art managers who do the art projects, planning, and
arrange tours and events; 2) Gallerists who do the exhibit, and
promote artists and arts in art gallery; 3) Art Collectors who
love and collect arts for their survival; 4) Curators who care,
arrange, displays and interpret arts for the public; 5) Art Dealers
who buy arts from artist and sell to collector; 6) Art Critics who
do critical analysis in any form of art; 7) Auctioneers who help
facilitate art dealers and collectors sell artworks to buyers at
auction houses; and 8) Artists are the most important
stakeholders, who create art in the forms of literature, visual,
graphics, decorative, drama, music, theatre, and architecture.

That’s all for today. I hope you learned something from this
lecture discussion video. For enrichment, feel free to study further
in seeing a video showcasing Filipino arts and craftsmanship, and
supplemental doc at LMS. Enjoy learning and stay healthy!
