History

Eschatology is an ancient branch of study in Christian theology, informed by Biblical texts such
as the Olivet discourse, The Sheep and the Goats, and other discourses of end times by Jesus,
with the doctrine of the Second Coming discussed by Paul the Apostle[1] and Ignatius of Antioch
(c. 35–107 AD),[2] then given more consideration by the Christian apologist, Justin Martyr (c.
100–165).[3] Treatment of eschatology continued in the West in the teachings of Tertullian (c.
160–225), and was given fuller reflection and speculation soon after by Origen (c. 185–254).[4]
The word was used first by the Lutheran theologian Abraham Calovius (1612–86) but only came
into general usage in the 19th century.[5]

Historicism v. Futurism

The division between these interpretations can be somewhat blurred. Most futurists are expecting
a rapture of the Church, an antichrist, a Great Tribulation and a second coming of Christ in the
near future. But they also accept certain past events, such as the rebirth of the State of Israel and
the reunification of Jerusalem as prerequisites to them, in a manner which the earlier historicists
have done with other dates. Futurists, who do not normally use the day-year principle, interpret
the Prophecy of Seventy Weeks in Daniel 9:24 as years, just as historicists do. Most historicists
have chosen timelines, from beginning to end, entirely in the past,[43] but some, such as Adam
Clarke, have timelines which also commenced with specific past events, but require a future
fulfillment. In his commentary on Daniel 8:14 published in 1831, he stated that the 2,300-year
period should be calculated from 334 BC, the year Alexander the Great began his conquest of the
Persian Empire.[44] His calculation resulted in the year 1966. He seems to have overlooked the
fact that there is no "year zero" between BC and AD dates. For example, the year following 1 BC
is 1 AD. Thus his calculations should have required an additional year, ending in 1967. He was
not anticipating a literal regathering of the Jewish people prior to the second coming of Christ.
But the date is of special significance to futurists since it is the year of Jerusalem's capture by
Israeli forces during the Six-Day War. His commentary on Daniel 7:25 contain a 1260-year
period commencing in 755 AD and ending in 2015.[44]

SCHATOLOGY

Eschatology Definition
Eschatology is the branch of Christian theology dealing with the biblical study of the end time’s
prophecies and the events of the last days.

Some of these events include the rapture, the second coming of Christ, the tribulation, the millennial
kingdom and the future judgment. The primary books of the bible pertaining to end times prophecy are
the books of Daniel, the book of Ezekiel and the book of revelation.

Though a challenging area of study, scatology helps believers understand the prophetic passages of
scripture and how to live the Christian life in preparation for the end times.

What is the rapture?

Although the term ‘’rapture’’ is not found in the bible, the theory is based on scripture. The rapture
describes a future, end time’s event when all true believers who are still alive before the end of the
world will be taken from the earth by God into heaven.

What is the tribulation?

The tribulation, as taught by most bible scholars, encompasses a future seven-year period when God will
complete his discipline of Israel and final judgment upon the unbelieving citizens of the world. Those
who accept a pre-tribulation rapture theory believe that Christians who have trusted Christ as lord and
savior will escape the tribulation.

Who is the anti-Christ?

The name ‘’anti-Christ’’ is only found four times in the bible. A study of these verses shows that many
anti-Christ’s (false teachers) will appear between the times of Christ’s first and second coming, but there
will be one great anti-Christ who will rise to power during the end times, or ‘’last hour,’’ as 1 john
phrases it. He will deny that Jesus is the Christ. He will deny both God the father and God the son. He will
be a liar and a deceiver.

The rapture and the second coming
According to scholars, the bible speaks of two separate and distinct events – the rapture of the church
and the second coming of JESUS CHRIST. The rapture will occur when Jesus Christ returns for his church.
The second coming will happen when Jesus Christ returns with the church to defeat the anti-Christ,
overthrow evil and then establish his thousand-year reign.

What is the battle of Armageddon? This epic end times clash, predicted by the apostle John in the book
of revelation, will pit Jesus Christ against the forces of evils. The outcome is a victory for Jesus Christ and
his followers.

What is the judgment seat of Christ?

At the judgment of Christ, Christians will appear before JESUS, to be rewarded for their works are done
in his name while they were on earth. It is a serious time in each believer’s eternal life but should not be
an occasion for fear.

Prophetic books
The book of Daniel is an important prophetic book dealing with the future of Israel and the millennial
kingdom.

The book of Ezekiel has some sticking similarities to the prophetic book of revelation, with a vision of the
New Jerusalem, the center of the millennial kingdom.

The book of revelation is largely devoted to the topic of end time’s prophecy.

The kingdom of Heaven is available for every man, woman, boy and girl in this world, no matter who
they are, where they live, or what they have done. It is freely offered to any and all who will receive it.
Simply learn of Jesus ( yeshua ) the promised messiah, invite him in into your life as lord, believe him
died on the cross for all of all your sins and rose from the grave ( proving there is a kingdom of heaven
….and a coming resurrection for both those who are going to heaven and for those who are going to
hell). Learn of him and believe in him……for he was the only one who has ever loved you enough to
substitute him for you on the cross. He shed his blood, suffered and died on the cross to save you from
your sins and from the utter darkness, loneness and torment of hell, if you will accept it, believe it and
trust in it. That is why Jesus is called savior. He now lovingly and graciously offers you life in heaven (and
we are warned it is a ‘’ take it or leave it ‘’ proposition.) we have to consciously receive it and accept it in
faith. If you sincerely admit you have sinned ( and need a savior to get into heaven ) and ask Jesus
(yeshua) to come into your life while fully trusting in him alone to save you from your sins…..and turn
back to God while honestly trying to stop doing (and saying) those things God says are wrong, you will go
to heaven …..And with open arms and tears of joy he will receive all who will come to him in faith and in
love …..It’s God’s promise!!!!
8

the only unpardonable sin is to reject (or ignore as a common and unclean thing) God’s love and his free
offer of eternal (and awesomely beautiful and exciting ) life in the kingdom of heaven by rejecting his son
…..Jesus Christ ( yeshua) ha’mashiach in Hebrew) ….who stepped forth from eternity ( ‘’from of old, from
everlasting’’…..see Micah 5:2) ….not to condemn the sinner, but to save the sinner ( from the torment of
hell) and who willingly and lovingly shed his blood and bore all of our sins and guilt on the cross so we
can be ‘’washed clean’’ and forgiven of all our sins. The bible also warns there will be no peace in our
hearts or minds until we make peace with GOD through his son, Jesus (yeshua), the promised messiah.
(GOD’S PROMISE…….)

PROPHECIES: THE COMING ‘’RAPTURE ‘’….PLEASE DON’T BE ‘’LEFT BEHIND’’

IMPORTANCE OF ESCHATOLOGY TO THE PRESENT CHURCH

1 Eschatology helps us to teach the church he church needs teaching on this

subject, not just because neglect produces a dangerous vacuum, but also because

T eschatology is the capstone and crown of systematic theology.

As kuyper said, it sheds light on every other doctrines and answers question that
every other theological subject raises. Louis berkhof wrote:
In theology (proper ) it is the question, how God is finally perfectly glorified in the work of his
hands, and how the counsel of God is fully realized ;in anthropology, the question, how is the
disrupting influence of sin is completely overcome; in Christology, the question, how the work of
Christ is crowned with perfect victory; in soteriology, the question, how the work of the holy
spirit at last issues in the complete redemption and glorification of the people of GOD; and in
ecclesiology, the question of the final apotheosis of the church.

2 eschatology helps us to worship God orship should be the end of all theology, but especially
of eschatology. When we think of the resurrection, the defeat of Satan, the final and perfect

W
judgment, the new heaven and the new earth, and eternal fellowship with Christ and his church,
we surely cannot but amplify our worship of God. If our eschatology does not result in greater
worship of God, we are either in error, or we are approaching the truth in the wrong spirit.

3 eschatology helps us to serve God with zeal he fact that the end is nigh should
not make us passive waiters for the inevitable nor induce a fatalistic inactivity. Rather,

T the New Testament links belief in the imminent end of all things with zealous service.
When we consider our great hope, the eternal
blessedness of heaven, and the great need of fellow sinners, we should be motivated
with greater passion for lost souls and the glory of God.

4 eschatology helps us to hope in the midst of trouble ometimes churches and
Christians face trials from which they will not be delivered while here on this earth. In

S the midst of disease, pain and injustice, it is vital to have a lively hope of resurrection
life. That alone will fuel faithful endurance to the end.

5 eschatology helps us to prepare for judgment ne of the reasons why so few

are ready for judgment is that they do not know there will be a judgment. In

O addition to getting ourselves ready, eschatology should motivate us to help others

get ready too. While obsession with the last things is dangerous,
omission is even more dangerous.

6 eschatology helps us to look forward to heaven adly, even for Christians,

concern for this present world too softens smothers interest in the world to come.

S Eschatology keeps these vital ultimate truths in our view and encourages us to look
beyond this world and too long for the heaven of eternal life with Christ and his
people.

ESCHATOLOGY STUDY

C
hristian eschatology, a major branch of study within Christian theology, deals with "last
things". Such eschatology - the word derives from two Greek roots meaning "last"
(ἔσχατος) and "study" (-λογία) - involves the study of "end things", whether of the
end of an individual life, of the end of the age, of the end of the world or of the nature of
the Kingdom of God. Broadly speaking, Christian eschatology focuses on the ultimate destiny of
individual souls and of the entire created order, based primarily upon biblical texts within the Old
and New Testaments.

C
hristian eschatology looks to study and discuss matters such as death and the afterlife,
Heaven and Hell, the second coming of Jesus, the resurrection of the dead, the rapture, the
tribulation, millennialism, the end of the world, the Last Judgment, and the New Heaven
and New Earth in the world to come.

schatological passages appear in many places in the Bible, in both in the Old and the New

E Testaments. Many extra-biblical examples of eschatological prophecies also exist, as well

as church traditions relating to the subject.

CHAPTER 1
THE GRACE
SIN AND BLOOD IN THE PAST GENESIS
2:7-9

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the
breath of life; and man became a living soul.

8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he
had formed.

9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight,
and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good
and evil.

God created Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden and gave him the authority to control
everything in it and in the middle of the garden God placed the tree of life ( the tree of knowing
the good And evil ) and then God commanded him to not torch or eat on it.

GENESIS 2:15

15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep
it.

Then God made eve as companion of Adam, they were naked but they never knew that up to the
day they disobeyed God and ate the fruit from the middle of the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 21:18,
21-25).

GENESIS 3:1-13, 21

1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.
And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But
of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it,
neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely

die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye
shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes,
and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also
unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they
knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
17

8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and
Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the
garden.

9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I
heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I
commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou
gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the LORD God said unto
the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me,
and I did eat.

21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

SO after that disobedient, God banished them from the garden of Eden and went on the earth
where they started their new life and God made for them clothes out of the animal’s skins.

GENESIS 4:1-16

1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a
man from the LORD. 2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep,
but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering
unto the LORD. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat
thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5 But unto Cain and to his
offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7 If
thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.
And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field,
that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I
my brother's keeper? 10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth
unto me from the ground. 11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her
mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not
henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, thou
hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I
shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that
findeth me shall slay me.
18

15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be
taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill
him.

16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the
east of Eden.

Then Adam and his wife eve gave a birth to their two sons Cain and Abel ( cain who was a
cultivator and Abel who was a shepherd). They all represented their sacrifices to the lord but
only Abel’s sacrifices was accepted by the lord then Cain got jealous and murdered his brother.

Leviticus 14:49-53

49 And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: 50
And he shall kill the one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water: 51 And he shall
take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the
blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times: 52 And he
shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living
bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet: 53 But he shall let go
the living bird out of the city into the open fields, and make an atonement for the house: and it
shall be clean.

Leviticus 16:18-22

18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and
shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of
the altar round about. 19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times,
and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the
congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat: 21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands
upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel,
and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send

him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: 22 And the goat shall bear upon him all
their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

then in order to take away the people’s sins or purify them, the blood of bulls and goats are used
to purify them.

Leviticus 10:1-2

1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein,
and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them
not. 2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the
LORD.
19

In the past God was so strict whereby any mistake did while offering sacrifices, the lord punishes
them for a example the death of Aeron’s son while he was offering sacrifices to the lord.

SAVED BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

In order for the people to receive God’s mercy and to enter into God’s grace, Christ came as a mediator
between man and God.

1 timothy 2:5

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

1 john 2:1-2

1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we
have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the
whole world.

We are under God’s grace but not sin

Romans 6:14, 22-23

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under
grace.

22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit
unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord.

You are no longer belonging to sin but now you belong to your lord because of his
mercy.

Ephesians 2:12-22

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and
strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But
now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of
partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of
20

commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so
making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having
slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to
them that were nigh. 18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints,
and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed
together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for
an habitation of God through the Spirit.

God was focusing on only one country Israel (jews)

But God’s grace through Jesus Christ comes to all people (jews and gentiles). Gentiles
who had no God, also they entered into that grace.

John 10:15-16

15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for
the sheep.

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they
shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

1 peter 2:10-12

10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not
obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts,
which war against the soul;

12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak
against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God
in the day of visitation.

THE CONVENANT OF THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

Titus 3:5-7

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved
us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;

7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of
eternal life.

It is by God’s grace that we were saved and the lord poured out his spirit on us thus
declaring us holy, we were brought to salvation by God’s son Christ through his
suffering.

Hebrews 2:10, 14-15

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in
bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through
sufferings.

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself
likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the
power of death, that is, the devil;

15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Christ entered flesh in order to break and win the power of the devil and you to be
delivered and become his own.

1 peter 1:18-25

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold,
from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious
blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained
before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21 Who by him
do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and
hope might be in God. 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the
Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart
22

fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God,
which liveth and abideth for ever.

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass
withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is
preached unto you.

You were brought by the precious blood of Christ and became holy so now God’s glory is on
you.

Hebrew 9:12-14

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the
holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats,
and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself
without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Jesus entered the most high place with the final blood and brought a new covenant.

1 john 1:9

8 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Now the blood of goats and birds or any animal cannot take away the sins of people
or purify them but only the blood of Christ.

Hebrew 10:4

3 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

Isaiah 53:2-7

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no
form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid
as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was
bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one
to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was
23

oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Jesus carried all our sins, weakness, sickness and the old of us onto the cross and gave us
a new life and a new person with his character.

2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.

Ezekiel 36:26

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take
away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

With a new heart and spirit, now God gave us eternal life and this life is in his son Jesus
Christ (whoever has the son have life and whoever does not have the son does not have
life).

1 john 5:11-12

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

SONSHIP

John 1:12-13

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man,
but of God.

To all who believed in him, he gave a right to become children of the most high (GOD).

Romans 9:26

26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my
people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
24

Romans 8:15-17

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of
adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer
with him, that we may be also glorified together.

You will become children of the most high GOD and you did not receive a spirit of fear
but you received a spirit of son ship( you must share on his suffering in order to share on
his glory at the end of the age).

1 john 3:1-3

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with
our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you
that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which
we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us:
and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

1 john 5:4-5

5 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that
overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he
that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

The world will not recognize you as a son of God as they never recognize him at first but
anything born of God overcomes the world, at the end you will win ( at the end you will
share on his perfect glory ).

GOD’S DISCIPLINE TO HIS CHILDREN

Hebrews 12:6-11

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the
father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers,
then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which
25

corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto
the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their
own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11 Now
no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward
it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

God disciplines whom he loves and accepts as his sons and daughters.

Proverbs 13:24

24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

God disciplines us so that we may share on his holiness and if God does not be discipline
us it means that he does not love us.

1 Corinthians 11:32

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be
condemned with the world.

We are disciplined by our father so that we do not be condemned by the world.

Proverbs 23:13-19

13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. 15 My son, if thine
heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. 16 Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips
speak right things.

17 Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. 18
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.

Do not resist God’s discipline because in doing so, he is saving your soul.

GOD’S TREASURED POSSESION

Deuteronomy 7:6

6For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen
thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the
earth.
26

Deuteronomy 14:2

2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee
to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

You are God’s treasured possession.

Deuteronomy 31:6, 8

6Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God,
he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

8And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail
thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

God’s protection on his children as his treasured possession.

Joshua 23:10-11

10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for
you, as he hath promised you.

11 Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.

God will fight for you because you are his treasured possession.

1 Samuel 12:22

22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath
pleased the LORD to make you his people.

For you are God’s chosen people.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and
not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and
pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye
shall search for me with all your heart.

God has good plans for you as his treasured possession.

Isaiah 1:16
27

16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes;
cease to do evil;

In order to position yourselves as a son of God or his treasured possession, you must wash
yourself and be holy, and you as a new creation you must seek him and do righteousness
until the end in order to get his glory (Isaiah 55:6-7).

Ecclesiastes 2:26

26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to
the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good
before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit

God gives wisdom, knowledge and joy to those who please him.

CHAPTER 2

CHURCH AGE

GOD SPEAKING TO THE CHURCH

MESSAGE TO THE SEVEN CHURCHES

Revelation 1:12-20

12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden
candlesticks; 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man,
28

clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame
of fire; 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as
the sound of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his
mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his
strength. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon
me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was
dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which
shall be hereafter;

20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden
candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven
candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

The seven stars are the seven spirits of the seven churches which are the seven lamb stand.

THE FIRST CHURCH

Revelation 2:2-7

2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which
are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found
them liars:

3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I
will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou
repent.

6But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. 7
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that
overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of
God.

THE SECOND CHURCH

Revelation 2:9-11
29

9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the
blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of
Satan.
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of
you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou
faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
11 11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that
overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

THE THIRD CHURCH

Revelation 2:13-17

13I know thy works and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou
holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein
Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the
doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of
Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.

16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the
sword of my mouth.

17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him
that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white
stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that
receiveth it.

THE FORTH CHURCH

Revelation 2:19-29

19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy
works; and the last to be more than the first.

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that
woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my
servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
30

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. 22
Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great
tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am
he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you
according to your works.

24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine,
and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you
none other burden.

25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. 26 And he that overcometh,
and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be
broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

28 And I will give him the morning star. 29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the
Spirit saith unto the churches.

THE FIFTH CHURCH

Revelation 3:2-6

2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have
not found thy works perfect before God.

3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If
therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know
what hour I will come upon thee.

4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and
they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot
out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and
before his angels.

6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

31

THE SIXTH CHUCH

Revelation 3:8-13

8I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it:
for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews,
and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet,
and to know that I have loved thee.

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the
hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the
earth.

11Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no
more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my

God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I
will write upon him my new name.

13He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

THE SEVENTH CHURCH

Revelation 3:15-22

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or
hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out
of my mouth.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of
nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind,
and naked:

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and
white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do
not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
32

21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame,
and am set down with my Father in his throne.

22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

CHURCH’S PREPARATION FOR THE RAPTURE

Romans 2:5-16

5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against
the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

6Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and
immortality, eternal life:
8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness,
indignation and wrath,
9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also
of the Gentile;
10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to
the Gentile:
11 For there is no respect of persons with God. 12 For as many as have sinned without law
shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the
law;

13(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be
justified.

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the
law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing
witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my
gospel.

Romans 14:10
33

10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother?
for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:10

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may
receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be
good or bad.

2 Timothy 4:1

1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the
quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

Hosea 12:6

6Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God
continually.

Revelation 3:21

21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also
overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Always be prepared for the rapture moment.

CHAPTER 3

RESURRECTION AND DEATH

TWO TYPES OF RESURRECTION

THE FIRST AND THE SECOND RESURRECTION

Over such, the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Jesus Christ, and
will reign with him for a thousand years. ‘’(rev 20:6) the rest of the dead ‘’did not live again until
the thousand years were finished’’.(an interpretation of the new testament is the understanding that
there will be two resurrection. Revelation says:’’blessed and holy is he who has part in the first
resurrection rev 20:5)

Despite this, there are various interpretation:

34

According to the premillennial post-tribulational position there will be two physical resurrection,
separated by a literal thousand years (one in the second coming along with the rapture another after
a literal 1000 year reign):

According to pre-tribulationists.

Two Resurrections

Main article: Resurrection of the dead § Two resurrections of the dead

An interpretation of the New Testament is the understanding that there will be two resurrections.
Revelation says: "Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such, the
second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with him
a thousand years." [Rev 20:6] The rest of the dead "did not live again until the thousand years
were finished". [Rev 20:5]

Despite this, there are various interpretations:

According to the premillennial post-tribulational position there will two physical

resurrections, separated by a literal thousand years (one in the Second Coming along with
the Rapture, another after a literal 1,000 year reign);
According to premillennial pre-tribulationists there will be three physical resurrections
more (one in the Rapture at the beginning of tribulation, another in the Second Coming at
the final of tribulation, the last one after a literal 1,000 year reign), they claim that the
first resurrection includes the resurrection in the Rapture and the resurrection in the
Second Coming, the second resurrection would be after the 1,000 year reign;
According to premillennial mid-tribulationists there will be three physical resurrections
too (one in the rapture at the middle of tribulation, another in the Second Coming at the
finale of tribulation, the last one after a literal 1,000 year reign), the first resurrection
would be the resurrection in the Rapture and the resurrection in the Second Coming, the
second resurrection would be after the 1,000 year reign.
According to amillennial position there will be only two resurrections, the first
resurrection would be in a spiritual sense (the resurrection of the soul), according to Paul
and John as participation right now, in the resurrection of Christ, through faith and
baptism, according to Colossians 2:12 and Colossians 3:1 as occurring within the
millennium interpreted as an indefinite period between the foundation of the Church and
the Second Coming of Christ, the second resurrection would be the general resurrection
(the resurrection of the body) that would occur at the time of Jesus' return.[82]

THE FIRST AND THE SECOND DEATH

The first death is the physical death of our body or is the natural death while the second death is the death of our soul in
hell.

CHAPTER 4

THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH

RAPTURE

LIFE IN CHRIST

If you have Christ you have life

2 Corinthians 15:20-28

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man
in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the
Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
36

25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that
shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he
saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all
things under him.

28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be
subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

1 john 5:11-20

12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in
his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath
not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of
God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name
of the Son of God.

14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his
will, he heareth us:

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we
desired of him.

16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him
life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray
for it.

17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth
himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. 20 And we know
that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is
true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and
eternal life.

There s on any sign which shows the occurance of the rapture, so be prepared.

Premillennialism

Main article: Premillennialism

37

Standard premillennialism posits that Christ's second coming will inaugurate a literal
thousandyear earthly kingdom. Christ's return will coincide with a time of great tribulation. At
this time, there will be a resurrection of the people of God who have died, and a rapture of the
people of God who are still living, and they will meet Christ at his coming. A thousand years of
peace will follow, during which Christ will reign and Satan will be imprisoned in the Abyss.
Those who hold to this view usually fall into one of the following three categories:

Pretribulation rapture

Main article: Pretribulationism

Pretribulationists believe that the second coming will be in two stages separated by a seven-year
period of tribulation. At the beginning of the tribulation, true Christians will rise to meet the Lord
in the air (the Rapture). Then follows a seven-year period of suffering in which the Antichrist
will conquer the world and persecute those who refuse to worship him. At the end of this period,
Christ returns to defeat the Antichrist and establish the age of peace. This position is supported
by a scripture which says, "God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our
Lord Jesus Christ." [1 Thess 5:9]

Midtribulation rapture

Main article: Midtribulationism

Midtribulationists believe that the Rapture will take place at the halfway point of the seven-year
tribulation, i.e. after 3½ years. It coincides with the "abomination of desolation"—a desecration
of the temple where the Antichrist puts an end to the Jewish sacrifices, sets up his own image in
the temple, and demands that he be worshiped as God. This event begins the second, most
intense part of the tribulation.

Some interpreters find support for the "midtrib" position by comparing a passage in Paul's
epistles with the book of Revelation. Paul says, "We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be
changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound,
and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed" (1 Cor 15:51-52). Revelation
divides the great tribulation into three sets of increasingly catastrophic judgments: the Seven
Seals, the Seven Trumpets, and the Seven Bowls, in that order. If the "last trumpet" of Paul is
equated with the last trumpet of Revelation, the Rapture would be in the middle of the
Tribulation. (Not all interpreters agree with this literal interpretation of the chronology of
Revelation, however.)

Posttribulation rapture

Main article: Post-Tribulation Rapture

38

Posttribulationists hold that Christ will not return until the end of the tribulation. Christians,
rather than being raptured at the beginning of the tribulation, or halfway through, will live
through it and suffer for their faith during the ascendancy of the Antichrist. Proponents of this
position believe that the presence of believers during the tribulation is necessary for a final
evangelistic effort during a time when external conditions will combine with the Gospel message
to bring great numbers of converts into the Church in time for the beginning of the Millennium.

 PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE: means that the rapture will occur before the seven years of
tribulation.
 MID-TRIBULATION RAPTURE: means that the rapture will occur in the middle of the
seven years of tribulation.
 POST-TRIBULATION RAPTURE: means that the rapture will occur after the seven
years of tribulation.

N.B: according to the bible the true rapture is pre-tribulation rapture.

THE OCCURANCE OF THE RAPTURE

39

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that
ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus
will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto
the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to
meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Corinthians 15:50-58

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth
corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the
dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
40

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So
when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in
victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the
Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

1. The coming of Christ will be audible. And he will send his angels with a great sound of a
trumpet, and they will gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to
the other. ‘’Matthew 24:31 2. The resurrection of the righteous will occur. ‘’for the lord
himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the
trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. ‘’ 1 Thessalonians 4:16 3. In one single
event, the saved who are alive at Christ’s coming will be caught up together with the
resurrected to meet the lord in the air. ‘’then we who are alive and remain shall be caught
together with them in the clouds to meet the lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with
the lord. “1 Thessalonians 4:17

Rapture
Main article: Rapture

The rapture is an eschatological term used by certain Christians, particularly within branches of
North American evangelicalism, referring to an end time event when all Christian believers—
living and dead—will rise into Heaven and join Christ.[59][60] Some adherents believe this event is
predicted and described in Paul's First Epistle to the Thessalonians in the Bible,[61] where he uses
the Greek harpazo (ἁρπάζω), meaning to snatch away or seize. Though it has been used
differently in the past, the term is now often used by certain believers to distinguish this
particular event from the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to Earth mentioned in Second
Thessalonians, Gospel of Matthew, First Corinthians, and Revelation, usually viewing it as
preceding the Second Coming and followed by a thousand-year millennial kingdom.[62]
Adherents of this perspective are sometimes referred to as premillenialist dispensationalists, but
amongst them there are differing viewpoints about the exact timing of the event.
41

The term "rapture" is especially useful in discussing or disputing the exact timing or the scope of
the event, particularly when asserting the "pre-tribulation" view that the rapture will occur
before, not during, the Second Coming, with or without an extended Tribulation period.[63] The
term is most frequently used among Christian theologians and fundamentalist Christians in the
United States.[64] Other, older uses of "rapture" were simply as a term for any mystical union
with God or for eternal life in Heaven with God.[65]

There are differing views among Christians regarding the timing of Christ's return, such as
whether it will occur in one event or two, and the meaning of the aerial gathering described in 1
Thessalonians 4. Many Christians do not subscribe to rapture-oriented theological views. Though
the term "rapture" is derived from the text of the Latin Vulgate of 1 Thess. 4:17—"we will be
caught up", (Latin: rapiemur), Catholics, as well as Eastern Orthodox, Anglicans, Lutherans and
most Reformed Christians, do not generally use "rapture" as a specific theological term, nor do
any of these bodies subscribe to the premillennialist dispensationalist theological views
associated with its use, but do believe in the phenomenon—primarily in the sense of the elect
gathering with Christ in Heaven after his Second Coming.[66][67][68] These denominations do not
believe that a group of people is left behind on earth for an extended Tribulation period after the
events of 1 Thessalonians 4:17.[69]

Pre-tribulation rapture theology originated in the eighteenth century, with the Puritan preachers
Increase and Cotton Mather, and was popularized extensively in the 1830s by John Nelson
Darby[70][71] and the Plymouth Brethren,[72] and further in the United States by the wide
circulation of the Scofield Reference Bible in the early 20th century.[73] Some, including Grant
Jeffrey, maintain that an earlier document called Ephraem or Pseudo-Ephraem already supported
a pre-tribulation rapture.[74]

SUPER NATURAL BODIES

The resurrection body

The Gospel authors wrote that our resurrection bodies will be different from those we have now.
Jesus said, "In the resurrection, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like the
angels of God in heaven." [Mt 22:30] Paul adds, "So also is the resurrection of the dead: the
body ... is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body." [1 Co. 15:42-44]

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church the body after resurrection is changed into a
spiritual, imperishable body:

[999] Christ is raised with his own body: "See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself"; [553]
but he did not return to an earthly life. So, in him, "all of them will rise again with their own
bodies which they now bear," but Christ "will change our lowly body to be like his glorious
body," into a "spiritual body" [554][83]
42
In some ancient traditions, it was held that the person would be resurrected at the same
spot they died and were buried at (just as in the case of Jesus' resurrection). For example,
in the early medieval biography of St Columba written by Adomnan of Iona, Columba at
one point prophecies to a penitent at the monastery on Iona that his resurrection would be
in Ireland and not in Iona, and this penitent later died at a monastery in Ireland and was
buried there [84]

The word resurrection comes from the Latin resurrectus, which is the past participle of
resurgere, meaning to rise again. Although the doctrine of the resurrection comes to the
forefront in the New Testament, it predates the Christian era. There is an apparent reference to
the resurrection in the book of Job, where Job says, "I know that my redeemer lives, and that he
will stand at the latter day upon the earth. And though... worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh
I will see God." [Job 19:25-27] Again, the prophet Daniel writes, "Many of those who sleep in
the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting
contempt." [Dan 12:2] Isaiah says:

"Your dead will live. Together with my dead body, they will arise. Awake and sing, you who
dwell in dust, for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth will cast out the dead". [Isa.
26:19]

This belief was still common among the Jews in New Testament times, as exemplified by the
passage which relates the raising of Lazarus from the dead. When Jesus told Lazarus' sister,
Martha, that Lazarus would rise again, she replied, "I know that he will rise again in the
resurrection at the last day." [Jn 11:24] Also, one of the two main branches of the Jewish
religious establishment, the Pharisees, believed in and taught the future resurrection of the body.
[cf Acts 23:1-8]

Purgatory

Main article: Purgatory

Some denominations (a notable exception are Seventh-day Adventists) affirm the statement from
the Catechism of the Catholic Church (above), with the exception of the parenthetical phrase,
"through a purification or immediately". This alludes to the Catholic belief in a spiritual state,
known as Purgatory, in which those souls who are not condemned to Hell, but are also not
completely pure as required for entry into Heaven, go through a final process of purification
before their full acceptance into Heaven.

Eastern Orthodoxy and Protestantism do not believe in Purgatory as such, though the
Orthodox Church is willing to allow for a period of continued sanctification (the process

of being made pure, or holy) after death. Most Protestants reject the doctrine of Purgatory
on the basis that first, Christ has already made full atonement for their sins on the cross,
43

thereby removing all obstacles which prevent them from coming directly into the
presence of God after death; and second, it is not found in the Protestant Bible

John 14:1-4

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a
place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I
am, there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

The Marriage of the Lamb

See also: Lamb of God

After Jesus meets his followers "in the air", the marriage of the Lamb takes place: "Let us be
glad and rejoice and give him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife has
made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and
bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints." [Rev 19:7-8] Christ is represented
throughout Revelation as "the Lamb", symbolizing the giving of his life as an atoning sacrifice
for the people of the world, just as lambs were sacrificed on the altar for the sins of Israel. His
"wife" appears to represent the people of God, for she is dressed in the "righteous acts of the
saints". As the marriage takes place, there is a great celebration in heaven which involves a
"great multitude." [Rev 19:6]

THE JUDGEMENT SEAT (OUR WORKS)

REWARDING FROM GOD

Revelation 22:12

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according
as his work shall be.

2 chronicle 15:7
44

7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

2 Corinthians 5:10

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive
the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

1 Corinthians 3:8-15

8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own
reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have
laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he
buildeth thereupon.

11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood,
hay, stubble;

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it
shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a
reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he
himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

REWARDING OF CROWNS

The lord will reward us the crowns of righteousness and of his glory at the end. 2

Timothy 4:7-8

7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the
righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that
love his appearing.
45

1 peter 5:4

4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that
fadeth not away.

CHAPTER 6

THE SEVEN YEARS OF TRIBULATION

The Great Tribulation

Main article: Great Tribulation

The end comes at an unexpected time

There are many passages in the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, which speak of a time of
terrible tribulation such as has never been known, a time of natural and man-made disasters on
an awesome scale. Jesus said that at the time of his coming, "There will be great tribulation, such
as has not been since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever will be.

And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake, those
days will be shortened." [Mt 24:21-22]

Furthermore, the Messiah's return and the tribulation that accompanies it will come at a time
when people are not expecting it:

Of that day and hour no-one knows; no, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father
only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as
in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in
marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, until the flood came and took them all
away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. [Mt 24:36-39]

Paul echoes this theme, saying, "For when they say, 'Peace and safety!' then sudden destruction
comes upon them." [1 Thess 5:3]

Evidence to show that the church will not face that tribulation

Pre-tribulation: Christians will not pass through that tribulation.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
46

11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Revelation 3:10

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of
temptation, which shall come upon the entire world, to try them that dwell upon the
earth.

THE REVELATION OF THE SEVENTY WEEKS (CALCULATION)

Daniel 9:20-27

20And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people
Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of
my God;

21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the
vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the
evening oblation.

22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to
give thee skill and understanding.
47

23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come
to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider
the vision.

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the
transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to
bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the
most Holy.

25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to
restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and
threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous
times.

26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:
and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the
end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the
week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of
abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined
shall be poured upon the desolate.

The Prophecy of Seventy Weeks

Main article: Prophecy of Seventy Weeks

Many interpreters calculate the length of the tribulation at seven years. The key to this
understanding is the "seventy weeks prophecy" in the book of Daniel. The Prophecy of Seventy
Septets (or literally 'seventy times seven') appears in the angel Gabriel's reply to Daniel,
beginning with verse 22 and ending with verse 27 in the ninth chapter of the Book of Daniel,[57] a
work included in both the Jewish Tanakh and the Christian Bible; as well as the Septuagint.[58]
The prophecy is part of both the Jewish account of history and Christian eschatology.

The prophet has a vision of the angel Gabriel, who tells him, "Seventy weeks are determined for
your people and for your holy city (i.e., Israel and Jerusalem)." [Dan 9:24] After making a

comparison with events in the history of Israel, many scholars have concluded that each day in
the seventy weeks represents a year. The first sixty-nine weeks are interpreted as covering the
period until Christ's first coming, but the last week is thought to represent the years of the
tribulation which will come at the end of this age, directly preceding the millennial age of peace:

The people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end
of it will be with a flood, and till the end of the war, desolations are determined. Then he
48

will confirm a covenant with many for one week. But in the middle of the week, he will
bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations will be one who
makes desolate, even until the consummation which is determined is poured out on the
desolate. [Dan 9:26-27]

This is an obscure prophecy, but in combination with other passages, it has been interpreted to
mean that the "prince who is to come" will make a seven-year covenant with Israel that will
allow the rebuilding of the temple and the reinstitution of sacrifices, but "in the middle of the
week", he will break the agreement and set up an idol of himself in the temple and force people
to worship it—the "abomination of desolation". Paul writes:

Let no-one deceive you by any means, for that day will not come unless the falling away
comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts
himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the
temple of God, showing himself that he is God. [2 Thess 2:3-4]

One day equals to one year

70weeks =70x7

=490 years are given by God to Israel to put an end on their wickedness.

The seven and the sixty two weeks (7x7+62x7)

49+434

483 years the anointed one will be cut off and that is the beginning of the grace and God
paused these years, which means that there are seven years left and that will be the of
Satan’s role on the earth. After the death of Christ, there happened the Roman Empire
war between the Romans and Israel and the temple of Jerusalem was destroyed during
this fight and the scriptures were fulfilled in Matthew 24:1-2.

The Romans Destroy the Temple

at Jerusalem, 70 AD
In the year 66 AD the Jews of Judea rebelled against their Roman masters. In response, the
Emperor Nero dispatched an army under the generalship of Vespasian to restore order. By the
year 68, resistance in the northern part of the province had been eradicated and the Romans
turned their full attention to the subjugation of Jerusalem. That same year, the Emperor Nero
49

died by his own hand, creating a power vacuum in Rome. In the resultant chaos, Vespasian was
declared Emperor and returned to the Imperial City. It fell to his son, Titus, to lead the remaining
army in the assault on Jerusalem.

The Roman legions surrounded the city and began to slowly squeeze the life
out of the Jewish stronghold. By the year 70, the attackers had breached
Jerusalem's outer walls and began a systematic ransacking of the city. The
assault culminated in the burning and destruction of the Temple that served as
the center of Judaism.

In victory, the Romans slaughtered thousands. Of those sparred from death:

thousands more were enslaved and sent to toil in the mines of Egypt, others
were dispersed to arenas throughout the Empire to be butchered for the
amusement of the public. The Temple's sacred relics were taken to Rome
where they were displayed in celebration of the victory.

The rebellion sputtered on for another three years and was finally
extinguished in 73 AD with the fall of the various pockets of resistance
Roman Centurian
including the stronghold at Masada.

"...the Jews let out a shout of dismay that matched the tragedy."

Our only first-hand account of the Roman assault on the Temple comes from the Jewish historian
Josephus Flavius. Josephus was a former leader of the Jewish Revolt who had surrendered to the
Romans and had won favor from Vespasian. In gratitude, Josephus took on Vespasian's family
name - Flavius - as his own. We join his account as the Romans fight their way into the inner
sanctum of the Temple:

"...the rebels shortly after attacked the Romans again, and a clash followed between the guards of
the sanctuary and the troops who were putting out the fire inside the inner court; the latter routed
the Jews and followed in hot pursuit right up to the Temple itself. Then one of the soldiers,
without awaiting any orders and with no dread of so momentous a deed, but urged on by some
supernatural force, snatched a blazing piece of wood and, climbing on another soldier's back,
hurled the flaming brand through a low golden window that gave access, on the north side, to the
rooms that surrounded the sanctuary. As the flames shot up, the Jews let out a shout of dismay
that matched the tragedy; they flocked to the rescue, with no thought of sparing their lives or
Page 47 of 115
husbanding their strength; for the sacred structure that they had constantly guarded with such
devotion was vanishing before their very eyes.

ADVERTISMENT ...No exhortation or threat could now restrain

the impetuosity of the legions; for passion was in supreme command. Crowded together around
the entrances, many were trampled down by their companions; others, stumbling on the
smoldering and smoked-filled ruins of the porticoes, died as miserably as the defeated. As they
drew closer to the Temple, they pretended not even to hear Caesar's orders, but urged the men in
front to throw in more firebrands. The rebels were powerless to help; carnage and flight spread
throughout.
50

Most of the slain were peaceful citizens, weak and unarmed, and they were butchered where they
were caught. The heap of corpses mounted higher and higher about the altar; a stream of blood
flowed down the Temple's steps, and the bodies of those slain at the top slipped to the bottom.

When Caesar failed to restrain the fury of his frenzied soldiers, and the fire could not be checked,
he entered the building with his generals and looked at the holy place of the sanctuary and all its
furnishings, which exceeded by far the accounts current in foreign lands and fully justified their
splendid repute in our own.

As the flames had not yet penetrated to the inner sanctum, but were consuming the chambers that
surrounded the sanctuary, Titus assumed correctly that there was still time to save the structure;
he ran out and by personal appeals he endeavored to persuade his men to put out the fire,
instructing Liberalius, a centurion of his bodyguard of lancers, to club any of the men who
disobeyed his orders. But their respect for Caesar and their fear of the centurion's staff who was
trying to check them were overpowered by their rage, their detestation of the Jews, and an utterly
uncontrolled lust for battle.

Most of them were spurred on, moreover, by the expectation of loot,

convinced that the interior was full of money and dazzled by observing that
everything around them was made of gold. But they were forestalled by
one of those who had entered into the building, and who, when Caesar
dashed out to restrain the troops, pushed a firebrand, in the darkness, into
the hinges of the gate Then, when the flames suddenly shot up from the
interior, Caesar and his generals withdrew, and no one was left to prevent
those outside from kindling the blaze. Thus, in defiance of Caesar's wishes,
the Temple was set on fire.

While the Temple was ablaze, the attackers plundered it, and countless
people who were caught by them were slaughtered. There was no pity for
age and no regard was accorded rank; children and old men, laymen and
priests, alike were butchered; every class was pursued and crushed in the grip of war, whether they
cried out for mercy or offered resistance. Titus

Through the roar of the flames streaming far and wide, the groans of the falling victims were
heard; such was the height of the hill and the magnitude of the blazing pile that the entire city
seemed to be ablaze; and the noise - nothing more deafening and frightening could be imagined.

There were the war cries of the Roman legions as they swept onwards en masse, the yells of the
rebels encircled by fire and sword, the panic of the people who, cut off above, fled into the arms
of the enemy, and their shrieks as they met their fate. The cries on the hill blended with those of
the multitudes in the city below; and now many people who were exhausted and tongue-tied as a
result of hunger, when they beheld the Temple on fire, found strength once more to lament and
wail. Peraea and the surrounding hills, added their echoes to the deafening din. But more
horrifying than the din were the sufferings.
51

The Temple Mount, everywhere enveloped in flames, seemed to be boiling over from its base;
yet the blood seemed more abundant than the flames and the numbers of the slain greater than
those of the slayers. The soldiers climbed over heaps of bodies as they chased the fugitives."

THE SCENT OF HEAVEN

Revelation 4:1-11

1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I
heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show
thee things which must be hereafter.

2 And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat
on the throne.

3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a
rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four
and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven
lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne,
and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a
face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within:
and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and
is, and is to come.

9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who
liveth for ever and ever,

10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that
liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all
things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

THE SCROLL WITH SEVEN SEALS

Revelation 5:1-14

1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the

2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to

4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to
look thereon.

5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of
David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the
elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven
Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the
Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of
saints.

9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals
thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and
tongue, and people, and nation;

10And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts
and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and
thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches,
and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as
are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and
power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped
him that liveth for ever and ever.

THE HISTORY OF ANTI-CHRIST

Daniel 7:1-28

1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon
his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven
strove upon the great sea.

3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked,
and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart
was given to it.

5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had
three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour
much flesh.

6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a
fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong
exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the
residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had
ten horns.

8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom
there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes
like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was
white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame,
and his wheels as burning fire. fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

10A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered
unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set,
and the books were opened.
58

11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld
even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their
lives were prolonged for a season and time.

13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of
heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations,
and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall
not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

15I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head
troubled me.

16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So
he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for
ever, even for ever and ever.

19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others,
exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured,
brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before
whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great
things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22
Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most
High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

23Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be
diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and
break it in pieces.

24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall
rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of
the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand
until a time and times and the dividing of time.

26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to
destroy it unto the end.
59

27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole
heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

28 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me,
and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

THE FOUR BEASTS AND THE TEN NATIONS

The four beasts are the four kingdoms that will rise on the earth and the forth
beast (the forth kingdom is where the anti-Christ will come from.

And after the forth kingdom, Christ will bring the kingdom which will last
forever and ever.

Daniel 7 describes four beasts and the mysterious little horn.

What does Daniel’s vision mean for us today? Here are keys
to understanding Daniel 7.
Daniel 7 records an unusual vision that he received in the first year of the Babylonian king
Belshazzar (555-556 B.C.). The vision predicts major world empires and events from the time of
Daniel to the second coming of Christ.
60

The vision ended with Daniel saying, “My thoughts greatly troubled me, and my countenance
changed; but I kept the matter in my heart” (Daniel 7:28).

What did Daniel see?

In verse 1 Daniel had “a dream and visions of his head while on his bed.” This is the same
expression that was used in Daniel 2:28 concerning King Nebuchadnezzar’s “dream and visions”
that came in the second year of his reign (603-602 B.C.).

The two sets of dreams and visions were about 50 years apart; but as we will see, they both
describe four world empires. The vision of the four beasts and the little horn found in Daniel 7
reveals more information about the same four empires that are first described in
Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a great image.

Both visions present God as the supreme Sovereign over the entire world. He not only ruled over
men during the time of Nebuchadnezzar, but He would also judge the empires that followed. The
end result is that all worldly kingdoms will be destroyed and replaced by God’s eternal kingdom
(Daniel 2:44-45; 7:9-14).

Four beasts of Daniel 7 explained

In Daniel 7:3-4 Daniel records, “And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from
the other. The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings. I watched till its wings were plucked
off; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a man’s heart
was given to it.”

In verse 17 we are told, “Those great beasts, which are four, are four kings which arise out of the
earth.”

The first beast: the Chaldean or Babylonian Empire

The lion was symbolic of the kingdom of Babylon and the “man’s heart” was that of its most
notable king, Nebuchadnezzar, who is written about considerably in the first four chapters of
Daniel.

As The Expositor’s Bible Commentary explains, “The lion symbol was characteristic of Babylon,
especially in Nebuchadnezzar’s time, when the Ishtar Gate entrance was adorned on either side
with a long procession of yellow lions on blue-glazed brick, fashioned in high relief” (1985, Vol.
7, pp. 85-86).

The eagle’s wings plucked off the lion were symbolic of Nebuchadnezzar’s time of insanity when
he was humbled by God to learn that “the Most High rules in the kingdom of men” (Daniel 4:17,
34-37).
61

Nebuchadnezzar ruled from Babylon to Asia Minor and from the Caspian Sea to Egypt. Biblically,
his most notable conquest was that of the nation of Judah, with Daniel being the most famous
captive from that nation.

Following his father’s death, Nebuchadnezzar reigned as king of Babylon for 43 years, from
604-561 B.C. (JewishEncyclopedia.com/Nebuchadnezzar). After his death, Babylon continued
as a strong empire until 539 B.C., when it was conquered by the second rising power in Daniel’s
vision, the Medo-Persian Empire.

The second beast: the Medo-Persian Empire

Daniel 7:5 says, “And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side,
and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: ‘Arise, devour much
flesh!’” This beast’s being “raised up on one side” represents the Persians being greater than the
Medes in this federated empire. This is made plain to Daniel in a vision two years later when he
sees a ram with two horns, one being higher than the other. Daniel is told by the angel Gabriel
that the ram represents the kings of Media and Persia (Daniel 8:3, 20).

The three ribs that are devoured represent three empires conquered by Persia’s first great king,
Cyrus the Great, and his son, Cambyses II. Cyrus came to power in 558 B.C. and conquered the
Lydian Empire (Asia Minor) in 546 and the Chaldean Empire (Babylon) in 539; and Cambyses
conquered Egypt in 525 (ibid., p. 86).

The Medo-Persian Empire lasted for 200 years and, under later kings, expanded toward Greece
in the west and to India in the east. At one point, the Persian Empire covered parts of three
continents: Asia, Africa and Europe. But, like the Chaldean Empire, the Persian Empire finally
came to an end. A new beast was rising in the west, and its appointed time had come.

The third beast: the Greco-Macedonian Empire

Daniel 7:6 says, “After this I looked, and there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back
four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.”

As with the second beast, the third beast is clearly identified by the angel Gabriel. It was Greece,
and the “first king” was Alexander the Great. After his untimely death in 323 B.C., his empire was
divided into four smaller kingdoms (Daniel 8:21-22).

The symbol of the leopard with four wings portrays the swiftness of Alexander’s sudden rise and
conquest of the Persian Empire from 334-331 B.C. After his death, several years of struggle
ensued that resulted in the division of his empire into four kingdoms. The new kingdoms were
(1) Greece and Macedon, (2) Thrace and Asia Minor, (3) Middle East-Asia and (4) EgyptPalestine.
62

“After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible,
exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling
the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten

horns.”The last two were ruled by Seleucus, who began the Seleucid Empire, and Ptolemy, who
began the Ptolemaic Empire. These two kingdoms are called the king of North and the king of
the South in Daniel 11.

Approximately two centuries later, the fourth beast conquered all of these kingdoms and
expanded far beyond the lands conquered by the previous beasts.

Daniel 11 shows that the king of North and the king of the South will revive and play major roles
in end-time prophecies.

The fourth beast, dreadful and terrible: the Roman Empire

Next in Daniel 7:7 we read, “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast,
dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in
pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were
before it, and it had ten horns.”

The devouring teeth of iron and the trampling feet correspond with Nebuchadnezzar’s vision of
the fourth kingdom being strong as iron, breaking in pieces and crushing all others (Daniel
2:4041). When the Roman Empire came to power under the Caesars (44 B.C.) it devoured, broke
in pieces and trampled the residue of its enemies with its feet—as was described in Daniel’s vision
in Daniel 7.

The fourth beast is quite different from the previous beasts, in that it has 10 horns. Daniel 7:24
says, “The ten horns are ten kings who shall arise from this kingdom.” Historically, these
revivals began to rise after the fall of Rome in A.D. 476, with the later ones under a new name:
the Holy Roman Empire. (For additional information, see “What Is Babylon?”).

This fourth beast would continue to be revived off and on for over 1,500 years until the end-time
10th revival. The 10th and final revival will be destroyed by Jesus Christ at His second coming
(Daniel 7:26-27).

This leads to one other unusual feature of the prophecy of the fourth beast.

The little horn

Daniel 7:8 says, “I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up
among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in
this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.”

This little horn represents a powerful religious system that would align with the last seven of the 10
political horns that were to arise after the fall of Rome. This coordination between church and state
produced what ultimately became known as the Holy Roman Empire.
63

In verses 21-22 and 25, this little horn makes war against the saints, speaks pompous words
against God, intends to change times and law,

and persecutes the saints for a “time and times and half a time” (literally three and a half years,
but using the day-for-a-year principle of Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6, 1,260 years).

Evidence of this persecution can be seen through the centuries, as hundreds and thousands of
people in Europe lost their lives through the inquisitions of the Roman Catholic judicial system.
They were tortured for confessions of being heretics and killed because they would not submit to
the authority and doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church and the pope.

Though the inquisitions of that time were abolished, the Bible indicates religious persecutions
from the “little horn” will come back and result in the death of many before the return of Christ.
Daniel also saw the conclusion concerning the “little horn”—that when Jesus Christ returns, “the
court [judgment] shall be seated, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and destroy
it forever” (verse 26; Revelation 18:2).

A different little horn in Daniel 8

A “little horn” is also spoken of in Daniel 8:8-9. Although this reference is to a specific leader
(Antiochus IV Epiphanes of the third beast) rather than a religious system (associated with the
fourth beast), the two have at least one commonality. They both hate and persecute God’s
people.

The Kingdom of God

The vision of Daniel 7 could not end with any greater news: “Then the kingdom and dominion,
and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the
saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve
and obey Him” (verse 27).

This prophecy ends by revealing that Jesus will establish the Kingdom of God on earth and give
it to the saints of the Most High. What is the biblical definition of a saint? How does an
individual become a saint and inherit this Kingdom? The study of the prophecy of the four beasts
and the little horn may be very interesting, but the answers to these most important questions of
life are what matters in the end.

For additional study, see the articles in the section “Kingdom of God

1ST BEAST - LION

The first beast is presented in 2 forms:

- like a lion with eagle's wings

- like a lion standing on 2 feet with the heart of a man.

The first form emphasizes strength and movement. The promises made
initially by God to Abraham and Isaac were the source of the strength of
Jacob and his descendants.

The main thrust of the eagle symbolism is the journeying of the children of
Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land.

Exod 19:4 You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and
how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to
Myself.

The second form of the lion focuses upon the time immediately following the
settlement of the children of Israel in the Promised Land. The eagle wings
were removed from the lion and it was made to stand on two feet
(presumably both sides of the river Jordan).
A man's heart was given to the lion, symbolizing a heart which was soft,
65

but also a heart which could rebel against God.

2ND BEAST - BEAR

The second beast is like a bear raised up on one side with 3 ribs in its
mouth (between it's teeth). It was told to arise and devour much flesh.

In the history of Israel there is the unexpected establishment of the ten

tribed 'house of Israel'. This was established as an entirely separate
kingdom. (The other two tribes, of Judah and Benjamin, now formed the much
smaller kingdom known as the 'house of Judah'. These two tribes continued
to be ruled by the descendants of David.) Refer 1 Kings 11:9,13,29-40;
12:1-16; 2Chr 10:1-19.

And so the former 12 tribed nation of Israel came to an end and another
beast like form of Israel was formed. This ten tribed beast being likened to
that of a bear.

As the lineage of David was ruling over the house of Judah, another
lineage was selected to rule over the house of Israel. The first king of
this new form of Israel was Jeroboam (son of Nebat). Jeroboam was an
Ephraimite! (1Kin 11:26, 12:20).

The prophecy advises that the bear was raised up on one side. When one
reflects upon the arrangement of the tribes around the tabernacle of God one
notices that there were four dominate tribes on each side. Num 2:1-34. Judah
(Eastern side), Reuben (Southern side), Ephraim (Western side) and Dan
(Northern side). Hence the crowning of an Ephraimite over the new kingdom
represented an elevation of the Western side.

66

NORTH
Dan, Asher & Naphtali

EAST WEST
Judah, Issachar & Zebulun EPHRAIM, Manasseh & Benjamin

SOUTH
Reuben, Simeon and Gad

The tribe of Ephraim became the dominate tribe of the 'house of Israel'. The
name of Ephraim was used to refer to the 10 tribes of the house of Israel.
Refer 2Chr 25:7, Jer 7:15, Isa 7:2 and Ezek 37:16.

There is a very important point to note about the tribe of Ephraim. It

was to this tribe, Ephraim, that many of the Abrahamic blessings of God
were eventually passed. The promises of God having been made to Abraham
and Isaac, were later passed to Jacob (Gen 27:28-36) and Jacob passed them
to Ephraim (Gen 48:14-20, 49:22-26). (Ephraim being the second eldest son
of Joseph.)

(NB: While Ephraim received promises of great prosperity, it was

Judah that received from Jacob the promise of kingship until
Shiloh. Refer Gen 49:10.)

The prophecy mentions three ribs in its mouth, between the teeth of the bear.

When the house of Israel arose, Jeroboam feared the eventual loss of his
kingdom to the kingship of the lineage of David, 1Kin 12:27. As Jeroboam
considered this to be something which was likely to occur, due to his people
travelling to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices, he made priests of those who
were not of the sons of Levi.

So those of the sons of Levi (who sought to serve the Lord God), were
compelled to depart from all the ten tribes of Israel, and relocate their
families in the kingdom of Judah. 2Chr 11:13-17.
The tribe of Levi was composed of three divisions; reflecting the three sons
of Levi - Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. (NB: In respect to the tabernacle of
God each division was appointed different duties. Num 3:25-38.)

In the prophecy, we next find the bear being told to 'Arise, devour much
flesh' (ie 'meat').

The notion of 'arise', when the bear is already raised up on one side, tends
to reflect what occurred to the lion, ie "made to stand on two feet like a
man". The bear is being encouraged to do what the lion did.

67

The promise of an enduring kingdom was made to Jeroboam if he heeded all

the commandments of God. Refer 1 Kings 11:37-39.

After continued failure to take a stand and obey God, failure to devour
the Word of God, the household of Jeroboam was brought to an end (1Kin
15:29-30). The same fate befell the subsequent ruling households of Baasha
(1Kin 16:11-13) and Ahab (2Kin 10:1-11).

In the end the failure of this beast to consume the Word of God caused God
to cast the ten tribed kingdom of Israel out of His sight. 2Kin 17:18,
18:11-12.

3RD BEAST - LEOPARD

The third beast was like a leopard and had 4 bird wings and 4 heads. Dominion
was given to it.

[ NB: It may be thought that this beast should be shown with

four pairs of wings, because of the four heads. However,
it can be seen from other examples that wings are counted
individually, refer Isa 6:2, Ezek 1:6, Rev 4:8 & 12:14. ]

This beast is a representation of the kingdom established by Josiah.

While Josiah was crowned the king of Judah, he also exerted his authority
over the land formerly occupied by the house of Israel.

2Chr 34:6 And so he did in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim,

and Simeon, as far as Naphtali and all around, with
axes.
:7 When he had broken down the altars and the wooden
images, had beaten the carved images into powder, and
cut down all the incense altars throughout all
68

the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

2Kings 23:19 Now Josiah also took away all the shrines of the
high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which
the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to
anger; and he did to them according to all the deeds
he had done in Bethel.

Hence the comment in Daniel 7:6, "dominion was given to it".

The arrival of King Josiah was predicted by a prophet of God hundreds of

years before Josiah's actual birth.

1Kings 13:2 Then he cried out against the altar by the word
of the LORD, and said, "O altar, altar! Thus says
the LORD: 'Behold, a child, Josiah by name, shall
be born to the house of David; and on you he shall
sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn
incense on you, and men's bones shall be burned on
you'".

King Josiah was a highly noteworthy king!

2Kings 23:25 Now before him there was no king like him, who
turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all
his soul, and with all his might, according to all
the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like
him.

Following the death of Josiah, four of his descendants reigned as kings

and they each experienced captivity in a foreign land. These were;
1) Jehoahaz (2Kings 23:31-34)
2) Eliakim renamed Jehoiakim (2Kings 23:34, 2Chr 36:6)
3) Jehoiachin also named Coniah (2Kings 24:8,12) 4) Mattaniah
renamed Zedekiah (2Kings 24:17,25:7).

This beast is presented with two pairs of bird like wings, because
these four kings were all carried off as captives to either Babylon or
Egypt.

The line of Zerubbabel, who led the return from captivity, was traced
through King Jehoiachin (refer Matt 1:11-16.) It was through Zerubbabel
and later descendants that the life of this kingdom was preserved.

69

4TH BEAST - 10 HORNS

The last beast was dreadful, terrible and strong and possessed huge iron
teeth. With these teeth and its feet it was devouring, breaking and trampling
what was left.

This beast is described as taking 2 forms:

- ten horns

- seven horns and a little horn.

10 HORNS

This 4th beast is initially introduced with the comment, "I saw in the
70

night visions" (Dan 7:7). Daniel had already documented in Dan 7:1-2
that the vision came to him by night, so this later comment suggests the
beginning of a period of end-time spiritual darkening.

This 10 horn entity is described as having teeth of iron and nails of

bronze. This suggests the presence of elements of the 3rd and 4th parts of
the Daniel chapter 2 statue.

The first 3 horns appear to portray the Jewish faith - a reflection of the
three divisions of Levi who attended the tabernacle, Numbers 3:17,
25-26,30-31,36-37.
The latter 7 horns, the Christian faith - a reflection of the seven
lampstands amongst which the Son of Man stands, Rev 1:12-13, and the 7 horns
of the Christ lamb, Rev 6:6.

This union of 10 kings/kingdoms sets about verbally attacking other

smaller non-aligned church groups desiring to teach the word of God.

So in summary, this 4th beast appears to be a Jewish/Christian composite of

denominations, which join together with the aim of becoming the only
organisation to represent God. These, through the vehicle of this beast,
will oppress and persecute dissenting groups.

7 HORNS + LITTLE HORN

The second stage of the 4th beast arises when the little horn appears on
the scene and displaces the leaderships ('kings') of the first 3 horns. The
period 'a month and a year' expires with the appearance of the little horn
and the Great Tribulation begins.

This little horn speaks great words

and has eyes. These factors make him
greater than the remaining 7 horns,
Daniel 7:20.

This little horn brings persecution

upon the saints for the symbolic
duration of '3.5 times' (Dan 7:25).

The symbolic displacing of the 3 horns by the little horn represents

Satan gaining control of the Jewish faith. A number of other prophecies
portray this event as the end-time fall of Jerusalem. The Satanic entity
accomplishes this victory with the assistance of the 'armies' of the
seven Christian leaderships and so the ancient desire of the nations of
Syria and Ephraim (house of Israel) is fulfilled.

Isa 7:6 Let us go up against Judah and trouble it, and
let us make a gap in its wall for ourselves, and
set a king over them, the son of Tabel;

Upon the expiry of the period appointed for the rulership of the little horn,
the 4th beast kingdom will be given to the saints of God.

The Kingdom Of Greece

Article contributed by www.walvoord.com

The third world kingdom, which was to succeed that of the Medes and the Persians, was the
empire created by Alexander the Great whose armies were victorious over the Persians in 331
b.c. Only occasional reference to this empire is found by name in the Bible. It does not seem to
have attracted the attention of the great prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah, and it does not coincide
with Biblical history in that it fits into the period between Malachi and Matthew.

Biblical Background

The Hebrew does not actually use the word for Greece or Grecia, but the word yawan or its
English equivalent javan. This name is derived from Javan of Genesis 10:2, one of the sons of
Japheth and therefore a grandson of Noah. It is commonly believed, however, that Javan was the
progenitor of the Greek race which inhabited not only Greece but the islands related to it and
hence is properly translated by Grecian where it occurs (cp. Isaiah 66:19; Ezekiel 27:13, 19;
Daniel 8:21; 10:20; 11:2; Joel 3:6; Zechariah 9:13).

Prophecy Of Daniel

According to the prophecy of Daniel in his interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s image, the

Grecian Empire was to be the third kingdom of brass (Daniel 2:39). Further light on the
characteristics of this empire is given in Daniel 7:6 in the description of the third beast of
Daniel’s vision. Daniel describes the third beast as “like a leopard, which had upon the back of it
four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.” While
Daniel’s prophecies concerning Nebuchadnezzar and the kingdom of the Medes and the Persians
were fulfilled in part in Daniel’s lifetime, in his prediction of the empire of Greece he accurately
Page 72 of 115
foreshadowed an empire which did not come into existence until two hundred years later. It
would have been impossible for Daniel by any natural insight to have anticipated that a small and
insignificant Greek state, namely, Macedonia, should reach such great power and prestige and
have such a rapid rise as that of Alexander’s kingdom.

Conquests Of Alexander The Great

History records how Alexander with the agility of a goat crossed the Hellespont, having
previously conquered Greece, and began the march to revenge the humiliation inflicted upon
Greece by Xerxes more than a century before. Conquering Troy, he first met Persian opposition
at Granicus and after subduing all of Asia Minor proceeded to battle a host of one-half million
Persians whom Darius had assembled. Meeting in the plain of Issus, he slaughtered the greatly
superior Persian force and broke the back of Persian opposition. Proceeding southward, city after
73

city yielded without a fight except for Tyre and Gaza where a siege was necessary before it was
subdued.

Continuing south to Egypt, Alexander conquered the entire country without a fight and
established the city Alexandria as the capital of the area, which soon became the largest city of
the Hellenic world. Proceeding east he had still another battle with Darius at Issus and again
defeated a greatly superior force. His armies reached India, but his troops, weary with battle,
refused to go further.

Returning to Babylon, Alexander intended to make this the capital of his entire empire. While
engaged in establishing his new organization, he died a victim of his profligate eating and
drinking coupled with an attack of malaria. Brief as was his domain, the fact that he carried
Greek culture with him and often established new cities on a Hellenic pattern had the effect of
leaving his mark upon the civilized world of his day and indirectly prepared the area of his
conquest to receive the Gospel later which was largely preached in Greek. The extent of his
conquest is all the more remarkable because it was foreshadowed in such a clear way in Biblical
prophecy.

The description of the leopard, one of the swiftest of beasts, characterizes the lightning-like
attack of Alexander’s armies which with unprecedented speed swept the world of his day into its
power. The four wings on the back of the leopard not only represent the idea of speed, but also
symbolize the historic fact that Alexander’s empire was controlled after his death by four
principal generals, also, anticipated in the four heads of the beast. The accuracy of this prophecy
is so evident that liberal scholars who consider detailed prophecy an impossibility are forced to
postulate that the entire book of Daniel is in fact a forgery written by a pseudo-Daniel who lived
after these events of Alexander’s conquest had already taken place. This unwilling confession of
the accuracy of Biblical prophecy is in itself most significant and a testimony to the accuracy of
prophecy as a whole.

The Prophecy Of Daniel 8

Unlike the kingdoms of Babylon and that of Media and Persia, there is little prophecy concerning
Alexander and his empire outside of Daniel. It does not seem to have attracted the attention of
any of the other prophets, although bare mention is made as previously indicated. More detail is
given in Daniel about the Alexandrian Empire, however, than any of the preceding kingdoms.
The entire eighth chapter is devoted to portraying the rise of the third empire and further details
are given in chapter 11.

In a vision given to Daniel before the fall of Babylon, the conquest of the kingdom of the Medes
and the Persians by Alexander was depicted in the destruction of the ram with two horns by the
goat with the important horn between its eyes. After describing the conquest of the ram, which
portrays the power of the kingdom of the Medes and the Persians, Daniel records the destruction
of the Persian Kingdom by Alexander in these words:
74

And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth,
and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. And he came to
the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the
fury of his power. And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler
against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to
stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was
none that could deliver the ram out of his hand (Daniel 8:5-7).

This description accurately predicted the conquest of the Persian Empire by Alexander and his armies
which brought to a close more than two hundred years of the illustrious political power under the
Persians. The interpretation of these verses is plainly given in Daniel 8:20, 21, “The ram which thou sawest
having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the
great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.”

The forth beast had ten horns (Roman Empire developed ten nations) out of the ten nations there comes
the anti-Christ.

The bible warns the final “empire” on earth just before messiah (Christ) returns will be “re-united “
roman empire of strong nations mixed with weak nations (“iron mixed with clay” ) over which the
anti-Christ will rise…..(Europe).

“whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of clay and partly of iron, the kingdom (rome) shall be
divided……(now re-uniting as modern Europe ) and as the toes and feet were partly of iron and clay , so
the (re-united ) kingdom shall be partly strong and partly weak or fragile ……’’ THIS will be the kingdom of
anti-Christ.

The ten horns are the ten kings who shall arise from out of the kingdom (the roman empire).and another
shall rise after them; he (the anti-Christ) shall be different from the first ones, and shall subdue three
kings……..”(the end begins) (Daniel 7:24)

The bible clearly says “in the last days” 10 nations will rise out of the ancient Roman Empire. Many (not
all ) believe 10 nations could rise out of the European union as we now see the “strong mixed with weak “
nations of Europe re-uniting into a powerful federation….. (some also suggest the 10 nations may
represent world wide trading blocs of nations, or the UN, or NATO, or nations out of the eastern leg of
the roman empire, which was based out of Constantinople in turkey.)

It is worth noting that the leaders of france,Italy, germany and England have called for the need to have a
“powerful leader” lead and head the new and rising “European union “ …….in a moment of time this
man would immediately posses the power over all Europe that eluded Adolph hitler (germany), Kaiser
Wilhelm (germany), napoleon Bonaparte (france), and the royalties of England, spain and others to again
and restore the dominion and power of the ancient roman empire…….

Please remember…….

THE STATUE

Daniel 2:31-45

31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was
excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.

32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of
brass,

33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet
that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and
became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no
place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and
filled the whole earth.

36 This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

37 Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and
strength, and glory.

38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven
hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of
gold.

39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass,
which shall bear rule over all the earth.

40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and
subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. 41
And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom
shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the
iron mixed with miry clay.
78

42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be
partly strong, and partly broken.

43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with
the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be
destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that
it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made
known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the
interpretation thereof sure.

The head of gold is the king of Babylon then another kingdom will arise stronger than Babylon
which will defeat it and later a third kingdom will again rise (bronze) and finally a forth kingdom
will rise and defeat it, it will be like as iron (same iron and clay ) and it will be with ten feet
which represent the ten nations of roman empire made of iron and clay which means that the
new roman empire will have some strong and weak leaders. But at the end the kingdom of the
lord will rise and defeat all the other kingdoms which will reign forever and ever.

THE ADOMINATION OF DESOLATION

The coming of anti-Christ before the second coming of Christ, the anti-Christ will be first
revealed on earth, after the rapture of the church , the seven years of tribulation will start and in
those years the anti-Christ will be revealed.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering
together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as
from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling
away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he
as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
79

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken
out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth,
and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received
not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Years of the tribulation which will come at the end of this age, directly preceding the millennial
age of peace:

26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the
people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof
shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall
confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the
sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it
desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
(dan 9:26-27)

This is an obscure prophecy, but in combination with other passages, it has been interpreted to
mean that the “prince who is to come” will make a seven-year covenant with Israel that will
allow the rebuilding of the temple and the reinstitution of the sacrifices, but “in the middle of the
week”, he will break the agreement and setup an idol of himself in the temple and force people to
worship it –the “abomination of desolation”. Paul writes:

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling
away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth
himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple
of God, showing himself that he is God. (2 thess 2:3-4)

A BATTLE IN HEAVEN

Revelation 12:7-12

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon
fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth
the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the
kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down,
which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and
they loved not their lives unto the death.

12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth
and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth
that he hath but a short time.

in the middle of the seven years of tribulation that is three and a half years there will occur a
battle in heaven when satan will be hurled on the earth having no access in heaven to accuse the
saints, then he will release that he is remaining with little time.

SATAN GIVES HIS POWER TO THE BEAST

Revelation 13:1-10

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads
and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2
And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his
mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great
authority.

3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and
all the world wondered after the beast.
81

4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the
beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was
given unto him to continue forty and two months.

6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle,
and them that dwell in heaven.

7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was
given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of
life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.

10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be
killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

Men followed and worshiped the beast and the beast was given power to war against the saints
on earth and to perform his authority for forty two months (3and a half years ). There will be
faith and patient on the side of the saints.

THE IMAGE OF THE BEST

Revelation 13:14-15

14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he
had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that
they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast
should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast
should be killed.

The beast ordered to setup an image or statue like of the first beast and it was given
breath in order to speak and cause death to anyone who refuses to worship it.

Isaiah 40:18

18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

You cannot compare God with any image.

THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST

Revelation 13:16-18

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in
their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or
the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is
the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

he even forced all people to receive a mark of him on the right hand or on the forehead
and no one will buy or sell without a mark of the beast.

This is the number of his name (it comes out of his name )

Anti-Christ against Christ

Vicarious filii dei ( the anti-Christ in latin dictionary it is called vicarious filii dei ). And

this name in it there settles the number of the beast and it can be calculated

Calculate the name of the beast in roman numerals and then add the numbers and get
the total, you will find out that the total will be 666.

THE THREE ANGELS OF GOD

These are God’s three angels which will warn people in those seasons.

The first angel

Revelation 14:6-7

6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to
preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and
people,

7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his
judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the
fountains of waters.

The first angel will be proclaiming the kingdom of God and his glory.

The second angel

Revelation 14:8

8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great
city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

The second angel is proclaiming about one world religion.

The third angel

Revelation 14:9-13

9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship
the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without
mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone
in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day
nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his
name.

12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of
God, and the faith of Jesus.

85

13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead
which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from
their labours; and their works do follow them.

The third angel warns about worshiping the beast, his image and receiving the number of
his name.

THE TWO WITNESSES

Two people which will preach in Jerusalem at the end of the world.

Revelation 11:1-19

1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and
measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.

2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given
unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two
hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the
earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their
enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have
power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they
will.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the
bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called
Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies
three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send
gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 11 And
after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their
feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And
they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
86

13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell,
and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were
affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

14The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The
kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he
shall reign for ever and ever.

16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their
faces, and worshipped God,

17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to
come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.

18And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they
should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and
to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them
which destroy the earth.

19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the
ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an
earthquake, and great hail.

1,260 days of prophecy

1 year =366 days

In years is 1,260/366

=3.44years

NB: this is the end of the seven years of tribulation and in chapter seven and eight now
is God operating on the disobedient and the end of the world.

CHAPTER 7

AFTER THE SEVEN YEARS

COMPLETING THE SEVEN SEALS

The second seal

Revelation 6:3-4

3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. 4
And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat
thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was
given unto him a great sword.

The second seal brings violence and murder on the earth (red horse).

The third seal

Revelation 6:5-6

5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see.
And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his
hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a
penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the
wine.

The third seal brings famine on the earth (black horse).

88

The fourth seal

Revelation 6:7-8

7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say,
come and see.

8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and
Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth,
to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

The forth seal brings death and hell on the face of the earth (pale horse).

The fifth seal

Revelation 6:9-11

9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that
were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost
thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that
they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that
should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

The fifth seal brings the penitent on the side of the believers to God.

The sixth and the seventh seal

Revelation 6:12-17

12And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake;
and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when
she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and
island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and
the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in
the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that
sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
89

17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

God’s punishment on the people who worshiped the beast.

All human being will look for death and death will hide from them (revelation 6:16)

THE SEVEN TRUMPETS

The first trumpet

Revelation 8:7

7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and
they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass
was burnt up.

The second trumpet

Revelation 8:8-9

8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire
was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;

9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the
third part of the ships were destroyed.

The third trumpet

Revelation 8:10-11

10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it
were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;

11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters
became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

90

The fourth trumpet

Revelation 8:12-13

12And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the
third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was
darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with
a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other
voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

The fifth trumpet Revelation

9: 1-12

1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and
to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the
smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke
of the pit.

3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given
power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth,
neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of
God in their foreheads.

5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be
tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he
striketh a man.

6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to
die, and death shall flee from them.

7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on
their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.

8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings
was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.

10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their
power was to hurt men five months.
91

11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose
name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name
Apollyon.
12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

Sixth trumpet

Revelation 9:13-21

13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden
altar which is before God,
14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are
bound in the great river Euphrates.
15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a
month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand:
and I heard the number of them.
17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having
breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were
as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and
by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto
serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of
the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and
silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor
walk:

21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their
fornication, nor of their thefts.

Seventh trumpet

Revelation 11:15-19

15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The
kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he
shall reign for ever and ever.

16And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their
faces, and worshipped God,

17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come;
because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
92

18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they
should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and
to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them
which destroy the earth.

19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of
his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake,
and great hail.

THE SEVEN BOWLS OF GOD’S WRATH

Revelation 16:1

1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your
ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

Commanding the seven angels who had the seven bowls of God’s wrath to pour them on
the earth.

The first bowl

Revelation 16:2

2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome
and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which
worshipped his image.

The second bowl

Revelation 16:3

3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood
of a dead man; and every living soul died in the sea.

The third bowl

Revelation 16:4-7

4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters;
and they became blood.

5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and
wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
93

6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them
blood to drink; for they are worthy.

7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and
righteous are thy judgments.

The fourth bowl

Revelation 16:8-9

8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto
him to scorch men with fire.

9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which
hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

The fifth bowl

Revelation 16:10-11

10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom
was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,

11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and
repented not of their deeds.

The sixth bowl

Revelation 16:12-16

12And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the
water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon,
and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings
of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of
God Almighty.

15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments,
lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue
Armageddon.

94

The seventh bowl

Revelation 16:17-21

17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great
voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.

18And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake,
such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.

19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great
Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the
fierceness of his wrath.
20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a
talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof
was exceeding great.

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

This is when Christ comes with his church after the seven years of tribulation to fight and
defeat the devil and rule the earth with his church for a thousand years and bring a New
Jerusalem on earth.

Signs of his coming

95

Amos 5:18-25

18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the
LORD is darkness, and not light.

19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his
hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no
brightness in it?

21I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them:
neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy
viols.

24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. 25 Have ye
offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

2 Timothy 3:1-5

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient
to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those
that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Signs of Christ's return

See also: Maranatha

The Bible states:

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a
cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven
as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, "Men of
Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up
from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."
[Acts 1:9-11]

Many, but not all, Christians believe:

1. The coming of Christ will be instantaneous and worldwide.[75] "For as the lightning comes
from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." ~
Matthew 24:27
2. The coming of Christ will be visible to all.[76] "Then the sign of the Son of Man will
appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son
of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." Matthew 24:30
3. The coming of Christ will be audible.[77] "And He will send His angels with a great sound
of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of
heaven to the other." Matthew 24:31

4. The resurrection of the righteous will occur.[78] "For the Lord Himself will descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the
dead in Christ will rise first." ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:16
5. In one single event, the saved who are alive at Christ's coming will be caught up together
with the resurrected to meet the Lord in the air.[79] "Then we who are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus
we shall always be with the Lord." ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:17

In Matthew 24 Jesus states:

For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the
world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. For false christs and false prophets will rise
and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. [Matthew 24:21,
24 NKJV]

These false Christs will perform great signs and are no ordinary people "For they are spirits of
demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to
gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." (Revelation 16:14) Satan's angels
will also appear as godly clergymen, and Satan will appear as an angel of light.[80] "For such are
false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.
97

And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no
great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end
will be according to their works." (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) "As his crowning miracle, Satan will
claim to be Jesus"[80] (Matthew 24:23, 24).

As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ.
The church has long professed to look to the Saviour's advent as the consummation of her
hopes. Now the great deceiver will make it appear that Christ has come. In different parts
of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling
brightness, resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation.
(Revelation 1:13-15). The Great Controversy, p. 624.[81]

ARMAGEDDON WAR

Revelation 16:16

16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue
Armageddon.

Armageddon

Megiddo is mentioned twelve times in the Old Testament, ten times in reference to the ancient
city of Megiddo, and twice with reference to "the plain of Megiddo", most probably simply
meaning "the plain next to the city".[87] None of these Old Testament passages describes the city
of Megiddo as being associated with any particular prophetic beliefs. The one New Testament
reference to the city of Armageddon found in Revelation 16:16 also makes no specific mention
of any armies being predicted to one day gather in this city, but instead seems to predict only that
"they (will gather) the kings together to .... Armageddon".[88] The text does however seem to
imply, based on the text from the earlier passage of Revelation 16:14, that the purpose of this
gathering of kings in the "place called Armageddon" is "for the war of the great day of God, the
Almighty". Because of the seemingly highly symbolic and even cryptic language of this one
New Testament passage, some Christian scholars conclude that Mount Armageddon must be an
idealized location.[89] R. J. Rushdoony says, "There are no mountains of Megiddo, only the Plains
of Megiddo. This is a deliberate destruction of the vision of any literal reference to the
98

place."[90] Other scholars, including C. C. Torrey, Kline and Jordan argue that the word is
derived from the Hebrew moed (‫)דעומ‬, meaning "assembly". Thus, "Armageddon" would mean
"Mountain of Assembly," which Jordan says is "a reference to the assembly at Mount Sinai, and
to its replacement, Mount Zion."[89]

The traditional viewpoint interprets this Bible prophecy to be symbolic of the progression of the
world toward the "great day of God, the Almighty" in which the great looming mountain of
God's just and holy wrath is poured out against unrepentant sinners, led by Satan, in a literal
endof-the-world final confrontation. Armageddon is the symbolic name given to this event based
on scripture references regarding divine obliteration of God's enemies. The hermeneutical
method supports this position by referencing Judges 4 and 5 where God miraculously destroys
the enemy of His elect, Israel, at Megiddo, also called the Valley of Josaphat.[citation needed]

For this cause, Har Magedon is the symbol of every battle in which, when the need is greatest
and believers are oppressed, the Lord suddenly reveals His power in the interest of His distressed
people and defeats the enemy. When Sennacherib's 185,000 are slain by the Angel of Jehovah,
that is a shadow of the final Har-Magedon. When God grants a little handful of Maccabees a
glorious victory over an enemy which far outnumbers it, that is a type of Har-Magedon. But the
real, the great, the final Har Magedon coincides with the time of Satan's little season. Then the
world, under the leadership of Satan, anti-Christian government, and anti-Christian religion—the
dragon, the beast, and the false prophet—is gathered against the Church for the final battle, and
the need is greatest; when God's children, oppressed on every side, cry for help; then suddenly,
Christ will appear on the clouds of glory to deliver his people; that is Har-Magedon.[91]

CHAPTER 8

THE MILLENNIUM (1000 YEARS OF CHRIST’S REIGN WITH HIS CHURCH)

Revelation 20:1-3

1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and
a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and
bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he
should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that
he must be loosed a little season.

Jude 1:14-16

14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord
cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all
their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which
ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth
speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.

The Millennium
Main article: Millennialism

Millennialism (from millennium, Latin for "a thousand years"), or chiliasm (from the Greek
equivalent), is the belief that a Golden Age or Paradise will occur on Earth prior to the final
judgment and future eternal state of the "World to Come".

Christian millennialism developed out of a Christian interpretation of Jewish apocalypticism.

Christian millennialist thinking is primarily based upon the Book of Revelation, specifically
20:1-6,[citation needed] which describes the vision of an angel who descended from heaven with a
large chain and a key to a bottomless pit, and captured Satan, imprisoning him for a thousand
years:

He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a
thousand years and threw him into the pit and locked and sealed it over him, so that he would
deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be let out
for a little while.

— Rev. 20:2-3

The Book of Revelation then describes a series of judges who are seated on thrones, as well as
his vision of the souls of those who were beheaded for their testimony in favor of Jesus and their
rejection of the mark of the beast. These souls:

came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life
until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those
who share in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no power, but they will be
priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand years

— Rev. 20:4-6

Thus, Revelation characterizes a millennium where Christ and the Father will rule over a theocracy
of the righteous. While there are an abundance of biblical references to such a kingdom of God
throughout the Old and New Testaments, this is the only reference in the Bible to such a period
lasting one thousand years. The literal belief in a thousand-year reign of Christ is a later
development in Christianity, as it does not seem to have been present in first century texts.[citation
needed]

101

The End of the World

Satan released

According to the Bible, the Millennial age of peace all but closes the history of planet Earth.
However, the story is not yet finished: "When the thousand years have expired, Satan will be
released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of
the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the
sea." [Rev 20:7-8]

There is continuing discussion over the identity of Gog and Magog. In the context of the passage,
they seem to equate to something like "east and west". There is a passage in Ezekiel, however,
where God says to the prophet, "Set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of
Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him." [Ezek 38:2] Gog, in this instance, is the
name of a person of the land of Magog, who is ruler ("prince") over the regions of Rosh,
Meshech, and Tubal. Ezekiel says of him: "You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the
land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you..." [Ezek 38:2]

Despite this huge show of force, the battle will be short-lived, for Ezekiel, Daniel, and Revelation
all say that this last desperate attempt to destroy the people and the city of God will end in
disaster: "I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed. I will rain down on him
and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him: flooding rain, great hailstones, fire
and brimstone." [Ezek 38:22] Revelation concurs: "Fire came down from God out of heaven and
devoured them." [Rev 20:9] It may be that the images of fire raining down are an ancient vision
of modern weapons, others would say a supernatural intervention by God, yet others that they
refer to events in history, and some would say they are symbolic of larger ideas and should not be
interpreted literally.

The Last Judgment

Main article: Last Judgment

Following the defeat of Gog, the last judgment begins: "The devil, who deceived them, was cast
into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be
tormented day and night forever and ever." [Rev 20:10] Satan will join the Antichrist and the
False Prophet, who were condemned to the lake of fire at the beginning of the Millennium.

Following Satan's consignment to the lake of fire, his followers come up for judgment. This is the
"second resurrection", and all those who were not a part of the first resurrection at the coming of
Christ now rise up for judgment:

I saw a great white throne and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled
away, and there was found no place for them. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and
Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one
according to his works. And Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second
death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. [Rev
20:11,13-15]

John had earlier written, "Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such
the second death has no power." [Rev 20:6] Those who are included in the Resurrection and the
Rapture are excluded from the final judgment, and are not subject to the second death. Due to the
description of the seat upon which the Lord sits, this final judgment is often referred to as the
Great White Throne Judgment.

A decisive factor in the Last Judgement will be the question, if the corporal works of mercy were
practiced or not during lifetime. They rate as important acts of charity. Therefore, and according

to the biblical sources (Mt 5:31-46), the conjunction of the Last Judgement and the works of
mercy is very frequent in the pictorial tradition of Christian art.[92]

New Heaven and New Earth

new heaven and new earth[Rev 21:1], Mortier's Bible, Phillip Medhurst Collection

But, in accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where
righteousness is at home (2 Peter 3:13).

The basic difference with the promises of the Old Testament is that in Revelation they also have
an ontological value (Rev 21:1;4: "Then I saw 'a new heaven and a new earth,' for the first
heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea...'He will wipe every
tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order
of things has passed away") and no longer just gnosiological (Isaiah 65:17: "See, I will
create/new heavens and a new earth./The former things will not be remembered,/nor will they
come to mind").[93][94]

New Jerusalem

Main article: New Jerusalem

The focus turns to one city in particular, the New Jerusalem. Once again, we see the imagery of
the marriage: "I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." [Rev 21:2] In the New Jerusalem, God "will dwell
with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.."
[Rev 21:3] As a result, there is "no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its
temple". Nor is there a need for the sun to give its light, "for the glory of God illuminated it, and
the Lamb is its light". [Rev 21:22-23] The city will also be a place of great peace and joy, for
"God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor
crying; and there will be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." [Rev 21:4]
Description

The city itself has a large wall with twelve gates in it which are never shut, and which have the
names of the twelve tribes of Israel written on them. Each of the gates is made of a single pearl,
and there is an angel standing in each one. The wall also has twelve foundations which are
adorned with precious stones, and upon the foundations are written the names of the twelve
apostles. The gates and foundations are often interpreted[by whom?] as symbolizing the people of
God before and after Christ.

The city and its streets are pure gold, but not like the gold we know, for this gold is described as
being like clear glass. The city is square in shape, and is twelve thousand furlongs long and wide
(fifteen hundred miles). If these are comparable to earthly measurements, the city will cover an
area about half the size of the contiguous United States. The height is the same as the length and
breadth, and although this has led most people to conclude that it is shaped like a cube, it could
also be a pyramid.

The Tree of Life

Main article: Tree of life (biblical)

The tree of life[Rev 22:2], a print from the Phillip Medhurst Collection of Bible illustrations in the
possession of Revd. Philip De Vere at St. George's Court, Kidderminster, England.

The city has a river which proceeds "out of the throne of God and of the Lamb." [Rev 22:1] Next
to the river is the tree of life, which bears twelve fruits and yields its fruit every month. The last
time we saw the tree of life was in the Garden of Eden. [Gen 2:9] God drove Adam and Eve out
from the garden, guarding it with cherubim and a flaming sword, because it gave eternal life to
those who ate of it. [Gen 3:22] In the New Jerusalem, the tree of life reappears, and everyone in
the city has access to it. Genesis says that the earth was cursed because of Adam's sin, [Gen 3:17]
but the author of John writes that in the New Jerusalem, "there will be no more curse." [Rev
22:3]

The Evangelical Dictionary of Theology (Baker, 1984) says:

The rich symbolism reaches beyond our finest imaginings, not only to the beatific vision but to a
renewed, joyous, industrious, orderly, holy, loving, eternal, and abundant existence. Perhaps the
most moving element in the description is what is missing: there is no temple in the New
Jerusalem, 'because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.' Vastly outstripping the
expectations of Judaism, this stated omission signals the ultimate reconciliation.
