1. Double-click the ACI MultiSite Controller icon on the workstation desktop.

2. Sign in using (admin/C1sco123456!).

1. Click Sites -> Add Site. Create the Site & Add the 3 APICs based on the
following:

Name: San Francisco

Click + APIC CONTROLLER URL

2. Click Save & Finish.

Confiuring Inter-Site Connection

Add BGP Route Reflector (RR) Policy for Site 1 & Physical Domain - San Francisco

1. Open the SF APIC & Log in using admin/C1sco12345 credentials.

2. Click Fabric -> Fabric Policies -> Pods -> Policy Group & create a Pod Policy
Group

Name: PPG-BGP
BGP Route-Reflector-Policy: default (Click the icon to the right to edit) and
configure the policy based on the parameters below:

AS #: 65001
Route-Reflector Nodes: Spine1 (103) & Spine2 (104)

Save the Policy Group

3. Click Fabric -> Fabric Policies -> Pods -> Profiles -> Pod Profile Default ->
default.

4. Select the PPG-BGP Fabric Policy Group to Apply the Pod Policy Group to the Pod
Profile.

5. Click Fabric -> Access Policies -> Physical & External Domain -> L3 Domains ->
Right-click to create an External L3 Domain. Assign it a name of
Multisite_External_L3_Domain.

Add BGP Route Reflector (RR) Policy for Site 2 & Physical Domain - New York
=============================================================================

1. Open the NY APIC & Log in using admin/C1sco12345 credentials.

2. Click Fabric -> Fabric Policies -> Pods -> Policy Group & create a Pod Policy
Group

Name: PPG-BGP
BGP Route-Reflector-Policy: default (Click the icon to the right to edit) and
configure the policy based on the parameters below:

AS #: 65002
Route-Reflector Nodes: Spine1 (103) & Spine2 (104)

Save the Policy Group

3. Click Fabric -> Fabric Policies -> Pods -> Profiles -> Pod Profile Default ->
default.

4. Select the PPG-BGP Fabric Policy Group to Apply the Pod Policy Group to the Pod
Profile.
5. Click Fabric -> Access Policies -> Physical & External Domain -> L3 Domains ->
Right-click to create an External L3 Domain. Assign it a name of
Multisite_External_L3_Domain.

MSC Infra Configuration Steps
=======================================

1. Open MSC.

2. Click Sites -> Configure Infra

3. Select San Francisco in the side menu to add Infra settings for Site 1.

4. Highlight Spine 1 and click Add Port. Configure the paramters based on the
following:

Port 5/32
IP Address: 10.1.0.1/31
MTU: Inherit

5. Enable BGP Peering and configure the BGP Router-ID as 10.1.100.1.

6. Highlight Spine 1 and click Add Port. Configure the paramters based on the
following:

Port 5/32
IP Address: 10.1.0.3/31
MTU: Inherit

7. Enable BGP Peering and configure the BGP Router-ID as 10.1.100.2.

8. Select New Yori in the side menu to add Infra settings for Site 2.

9. Highlight Spine 1 and click Add Port. Configure the paramters based on the
following:

Port 5/32
IP Address: 10.2.0.1/31
MTU: Inherit

10. Enable BGP Peering and configure the BGP Router-ID as 10.2.100.1.

11. Highlight Spine 1 and click Add Port. Configure the paramters based on the
following:

Port 5/32
IP Address: 10.2.0.3/31
MTU: Inherit

12. Enable BGP Peering and configure the BGP Router-ID as 10.2.100.2.

13. Click the San Francisco -> Pod 1 to configure the Overlay Unicast TEP IP as
10.1.100.100

14. Click the New York-> Pod 1 to configure the Overlay Unicast TEP IP as
10.2.100.100
=======================================
Enabling Multi-Site
=======================================

1. Select the site box (San Francisco or New York) to bring up the pane to enable
Multi-Site.

2. Configure the following:

• ACI Mult-Site: On
• OVERLAY MULTICAST TEP: SF: 10.1.100.200 / NY: 10.2.100.200
• BGP Autonomous System Number: SF: 65001 / NY: 65002
• OSPF Area ID: 0
• OSPF Area Type: regular
• External Routed Domain: Multisite_External_L3_Domain

3. Click DEPLOY to push the Infra L3out configuration to the APIC.

4. Wait for the success message and close the Fabric Connectivity Intra window.

5. Add the Multipod Data Plane TEP configuration as follows:

• In the APIC window for the site being configured, browse to Tenants > infra >
Policies > Protocol > Fabric Ext Connections Policies and click Fabric Ext
Connection Policy.
• Enter extended:as2-nn4:5:16 in the Community field.
• In the work pane, double-click Pod ID 1.

6. Click + to add a subnet.


7. Enter the MultiPod Dataplane TEP in the Subnet field.
• San Francisco: 10.1.200.200/32
• New York: 10.2.200.200/32
8. Click Update, then click Close. Finally click Submit and click Submit Changes in
the pop-up window to confirm the changes.
9. Expand Tenant > infra > Networking > L3Outs and verify that an L3outs called
intersite has been configured under the infra tenant. This indicates that Infra
L3out has been successfully configured on APIC for Site 1.
