A Greener Lifestyle: Small Steps, Big Impact

Taking care of the environment is something we should all get involved in.
Every day, people throw away plastic, paper, and other materials that could
easily be recycled. If we used fewer resources, we could help preserve
the planet for future generations.

For example, in the past, people didn't think much about where their waste
went. Now, many countries have started recycling programs, and individuals
are trying to live more sustainable lives. If more people had recycled in
the past, there would be less pollution now.

To make a difference, you can start by reducing your energy consumption.

Turning off lights and electronics when you’re not using them is a simple
habit to adopt. It's also important to think about how you get around.
Walking, cycling, or taking public transportation helps reduce carbon
emissions.

Another way to protect the environment is by reusing items. For instance,

instead of buying bottled water every day, you could use a reusable water
bottle. You should also avoid buying products with excessive packaging
because they create unnecessary waste.

Wouldn't it be great if everyone took small steps to help the environment?

Imagine how much cleaner the planet would be if people planted trees
and cleaned beaches regularly.

Remember, we can't take back the damage that has already been done, but
we can keep moving forward to create a better future. So, let’s all try to
make eco-friendly choices in our daily routines.

The words and phrases in bold are examples of phrasal verbs, modal
verbs, the simple past, and conditionals.

2.2. According to the article above, answer the following questions.

Write complete sentences.
a. What are two ways people can reduce energy consumption?
Explain.
b. What kind of changes have you adopted at home to have a
greener future? Describe 2 of them.
3
2.3. Post your answers on the forum and exchange opinions with your
partners regarding their answers.

LEARNING TIP
Don’t forget to use modal verbs and conditionals in your answers to step
two. Practice those structures in exercises 4 to 12 in module 2 of your
eBook.

STEP 3. WRITING ACTIVITY.
