that comprises work from many different cultures. Each monologue comes from a play, whether it is full length or one act.
Therefore, it is in the student’s best interest to read the entire play from which the monologue originates in order to make
appropriate character choices when preparing the monologue for adjudication.
Level 1 monologues are intended for beginning students of acting. Level 2 is intended for intermediate students of acting, while
Level 3 is intended for advanced acting students. Lastly, classical pieces are considered material for intermediate to advanced
students.
