The document discusses congruence and transformations, defining congruent figures and congruence transformations as rigid motions that map one figure onto another. It provides examples of congruent triangles and rectangles, illustrating transformations such as rotations, translations, and reflections. Additionally, it includes exercises to identify congruent figures and determine congruence through transformations.

4 Congruence and Transformations

Congruent figures - if and only if there is a rigid motion or composition of rigid motions that maps one figure
onto the other.

Congruence transformation - another name for rigid motion or a combination of rigid motions because the
preimage and image are congruent.
