How To Advertise On Facebook

INTRODUCTION

Harness the awesome power of Facebook advertising to reach and engage

with an enormous online audience. In this training, we’ll go over the seven
steps you’ll take to get started making a fortune advertising on one of the
most popular websites in the World. The seven steps you’ll take are as
follows—

1. Set up a Facebook Business Account.

2. Define your target audience.

3. Choose your ad format.

4. Create your ad.

5. Set your budget and bid.

1
6. Launch your ad.

7. Measure your results.

In these next modules, we will go over each of these action steps in depth.
Be prepared to take notes. Let’s get started.

STEP 1: Set Up Your Facebook Business Account

Setting up a Facebook Business account is a simple process and can be

completed by taking the following actions:

1. Go to Facebook.com and log in to your personal account. If you

don't have a personal account, you'll need to create one before you
can set up a business account.

2. Once logged into your personal account, go to the Facebook

Business Manager page at http://business.facebook.com.

3. Click on the "Create Account" button. You will be prompted to

enter your business information, including your business name,
address, and contact information.

2
4. Fill in all the required information. Make sure you provide accurate
and complete information, as this will be used to verify your account
and make it easier for people to find your business on Facebook.

5. Verify your account. Facebook may ask you to verify your account
by phone or email. Follow the prompts to complete the verification
process.

Once your account is set up, you can start creating ads and managing your
Facebook business page.

You can also set up a page for your business, which is different from a
Facebook business account. A Facebook page is a public profile that
allows businesses to share content, connect with customers, and run ads.

To create a Facebook page, you'll need to be logged in to your personal

account, click on the "Create" button on the top right corner of the home
page and then choose "Page" and fill the information required.

If you already have a page for your business, you can convert it into a
business account in Facebook Business Manager, this way you will have
more tools and insights for running your advertising efforts.

3
STEP 2: Define Your Target Audience

Defining your target audience is the most important step in creating a

successful Facebook advertising campaign. It’s important not to screw up
this part. Listen carefully to the following action steps for creating your
customer avatar.

1. Identify your customer demographics. Start by identifying the

basic demographics of your target audience such as age, gender,
location, and education level. This information can be obtained from
your customer database or by conducting market research.

2. Understand their interests. Think about what your target audience

is into. What are their hobbies? What kind of pages do they follow?

3. Identify their behaviors. Consider the behaviors of your target

audience, such as their purchasing habits, device usage, and online
activity. This kind of data, such as those who have recently made a
purchase or have engaged with your business before, is a key
component in understanding your ideal customer.

4. Define your buyer personas. Use all the information you've

gathered to create buyer personas for your target audience. A buyer
persona—aka a customer avatar—is a fictional representation of your

4
ideal customer. It gives you a clear picture of who your target
audience is and what they're looking for.

5. Use Facebook's targeting options. Once you have a clear

understanding of your target audience, you can use Facebook's tools
to reach them. You can also use custom and lookalike audiences to
reach specific groups of people.

6. Test and refine. As you launch your campaign, keep track of your
audience engagement and performance. Refine and adjust your ad
creative as needed, this will help you to better reach your customers
and improve the performance of your ads.

Remember that Facebook's targeting options are constantly evolving, and

new options are added regularly, so it's important to stay informed and
adjust as needed.

STEP 3: Choose Your Ad Format

There are several types of ads that work well on Facebook, each with their
own unique features and best practices. Here are some of the most popular
types of ads on Facebook:

5
1. Image ads. Image ads are the most basic form of Facebook
advertising. They feature a single image with a headline and body
text. These ads work well for promoting products, services, or events,
and are great for building brand awareness.

2. Video ads. Video ads are quickly increasing in popularity on

Facebook, as they allow businesses to tell a story and engage with
their audience in a more dynamic way. Video ads can be used to
promote products or services, tell a brand story, or share customer
testimonials.

3. Carousel ads. Carousel ads allow businesses to feature multiple

images or videos in a single ad. This format is great for showcasing
different products or features, and can be used to tell a story or
highlight a range of options.

4. Slideshow ads. Slideshow ads allow businesses to create a

video-like experience using a series of images, with the added benefit
of being less data-intensive than video ads. They can be a great
option for businesses targeting audiences in areas with low internet
connectivity.

5. Collection ads. Collection ads allow businesses to showcase a

variety of products or services within a single ad. They can be used to

6
drive traffic to a specific website or landing page, or to promote a
product catalog.

6. Dynamic ads. Dynamic ads allow businesses to automatically show

personalized ads to people who have visited their website or mobile
app. These ads can be used to promote products or services and to
retarget users who have shown interest in the past.

With the constant updates and changes on Facebook, new ad formats and
features can—and will— appear in the future. Stay updated and constantly
test different ad formats to see which one works best for your business and
audience.

STEP 4: Create Your Ad

Now that you’ve thoroughly researched your audience and decided how
your ad will look and what it will say, creating the ad is a simple process:

1. Log into your Facebook Business Manager account.

2. Click on the "Create" button located on the top right corner of the
screen.

3. Select the "Ad" option from the drop-down menu.

7
4. Choose your ad campaign objective.

5. Select your ad format.

6. Target your audience by following the prompts and using the

information you collected during your research.

7. Create your ad.

8. Set your budget and bid—Don’t worry, we’ll go over this more in
step 5, and you can always change it if need be.

9. Review and submit.

STEP 5: Set Your Budget and Bid

For many people, this seems like the most intimidating step, but don’t
worry, it’s quite easy. When setting your budget and bid for a Facebook ad,
it's important to consider your advertising goals, target audience, and the
type of ad you're planning to run. The following steps will help you set your
budget and bid:

8
1. Determine your advertising goals. Before setting your budget and
bid, it's important to determine your advertising goals. Are you trying
to increase brand awareness, drive website traffic, or generate leads?
Your goals will help you determine the type of ad you want to run and
the budget you'll need to allocate.

2. Set your budget. Facebook allows you to set a daily or lifetime

budget for your ad campaign. A daily budget is the amount of money
you want to spend per day on your ad campaign, while a lifetime
budget is the total amount of money you want to spend on your ad
campaign over its entire run.

3. Choose your bid. Facebook uses an auction system to determine

which ads will be shown to users. You'll need to set your bid, which is
the amount you're willing to pay for a specific action, such as a click,
a like, or a view. You can choose between a CPC (cost per click) or
CPM (cost per thousand impressions) bid.

4. Set your ad schedule. You can choose to run your ad continuously

or set a start and end date for your ad.

9
STEP 6 Launch your ad

And now, the most exciting step for many of us, launching your ad! But
don’t just go barreling in. Follow this plan for launch day:

1. Review your ad. Before launching your ad, review it carefully to

ensure that all the information is accurate, the copy is clear and the
design looks good.

2. Choose your ad placements. You’re allowed to choose where your

ad will be displayed. Choose to have your ad show on Facebook,
Instagram, Audience Network, or all three.

3. Set your ad schedule. You can choose to run your ad continuously

or set a start and end date.

4. Submit your ad. Once you've reviewed your ad,set your ad

placements and schedule, and checked all the boxes, you can submit
it to Facebook for review. This process usually takes a few minutes to
a few hours.

5. Monitor your campaign. Once your ad has been approved and is

live, monitor your campaign to track its performance. Keep an eye on
your reach, engagement, and conversion rates.

10
6. Optimize your campaign. Based on the performance of your ad, you
may need to make adjustments to your targeting, bid, budget, or ad
creative. Keep testing different elements to optimize your campaign
and achieve the best results.

It's also important to remember that Facebook's advertising platform is

constantly evolving, and new features are added regularly, so stay informed
and adapt your campaign strategy as needed.

STEP 7: Measure Your Results

Measuring the results of your Facebook advertising campaign will allow you
to understand the effectiveness of your ads and make adjustments to
improve performance. Here are some pointers to help you measure the
results of your Facebook advertising campaign:

1. Use Facebook's built-in metrics. Facebook provides a variety of

metrics that can help you measure the performance of your ads.
These metrics include reach, engagement, click-through rate (CTR),
conversion rate, and more. You can access these metrics by going to
the Ads Manager or Power Editor.

2. Set up conversion tracking. Conversion tracking allows you to see

the actions people take after seeing your ad, such as making a

11
purchase or signing up for your newsletter. You can set up conversion
tracking by adding a conversion pixel to your website or using the
Facebook pixel.

3. Analyze your audience insights. Facebook's Audience Insights tool

provides detailed information about your target audience, such as
demographics, interests, and behaviors. This information can help
you understand who your ads are reaching and what actions they are
taking.

4. Use third-party tools. There are a variety of third-party tools

available that can help you measure the results of your Facebook
advertising campaign. These tools can provide additional metrics and
insights that can help you optimize your campaign.

5. A/B test your ads. A/B testing allows you to create multiple versions
of your ad and test them against each other to determine which one
performs the best. This can help you optimize your ad creative and
improve the performance of your ads.

6. Use the data to optimize your campaign. Once you've collected

and analyzed your data, use it to make adjustments to your
campaign. Test different targeting options, ad formats, and ad
creative to find what works best for your audience.

12
By keeping track of your performance data, you can make informed
decisions on how to optimize your campaign and improve your results.

There’s a lot more to Facebook advertising than meets the eye. You can’t
rush in with no game plan, throw a little campaign together, and expect
massively successful results. By taking your time and following this training,
you can find your customers, grow your audience, and successfully
monetize your Facebook advertising efforts.
