Verb to Be/ Questions
To make a question with Be, we use: are + you, they, we……?
Is+ he, she, it….?
Yes/No questions with be

We do not use the short form in positive answers that start with “yes”.
Example A: Are you a doctor?

We can make short negative answers in two ways;
1. No, (Subject+ Be) not
No, they’re not No, we’re not No, she’s not

2. No, Subject (Be + not)


No, they aren’t No, we aren’t No, she isn’t

Exception :
We have one short form of (I am not)

Verb to Be/ Negatives
To make negatives with Be, we use : I + am not
he, she, it + is not
we, they, you + are not

Example: She is from Germany.

We use be to ask about names, jobs, and ages

Is she 45?
We use be+ from to ask and answer about cities and countries
Are you from Italy?
