The Impact of Technology on Education

By: Denise Miel A. Real

Technology has changed the way we learn and teach by making it more accessible, engaging and
personalized. There are many advantages but it also presents challenges or disadvantages. Here are
some positive and negative effects of technology on education.

One of the biggest advantages of technology is that it makes learning easier and accessible. In
the past, people used books for information, but currently, they can find information online. With the
help of learning apps, students can get extra help on that topic. Online learning has also become very
important. For example, when classes get suspended or no face-to-face classes occur, the teacher can
conduct online classes, this way the students can attend classes and learn even at home.

On the other hand, one of the main problems with using technology in education is that some
students may not have a computer or internet at home. This makes it unfair for the students that are
left behind for this reason. Besides that, another problem is when students become too dependent on
technology. In addition, spending too much time in front of screens can cause blurred vision, eye strain,
physical discomfort, and more.

In conclusion, technology notably made learning more accessible for students which can help
increase their knowledge. However, there are downsides such as becoming too dependent on
technology, eye issues, and not having a gadget or internet. We should focus on ways that helps
students learn better. It’s also important to balance online learning with face-to-face time. Lastly, we
should keep the lessons flexible and support students’ mental health and well-being.
