Strategies in Teaching Force and Motion
In today's discussion, I learned some strategies that I may use in teaching science to my
future learners on the topic of force and motion for elementary students. They believe that
subject science is simply the process of learning about the natural world, how humans and
animals are created, and how things move according to their location. Elementary students
are full of curiosity about their surroundings, like how the ball bounces and how to move
their toys straight or in a curved way. By understanding the topic of force and motion, one of
the most important is that this topic is part of everyday life, involving many ideas that
students are already familiar with. Students know how to move and how to make objects
move. They understand that different amounts of force are required to accomplish different
types of work and they will learn how these physical factors impact their lives and work.
In elementary school, students in the subject of science begin to think of force as a push or
a pull. Students see examples of force on a playground through live videos and experiment
with force through hands-on lessons at school. An interactive mini-golf game allows
students to experiment with the effects of force as they decide how much force to use in
hitting the ball, and in addition to that, students also learn that motion can be measured in
terms of distance and in terms of time. Interactive activities and games allow students to
compare and make these measurements of motion . Finally, students explore factors and
variables as they add what they’ve learned to their notebook. A special lesson on factors is
included to help make teaching factors, controls, and variables easy.
