Okay, let’s now proceed to our next topic. But
first let’s read this story first for us to have
insight of what would be our topic for today.
Are you ready? Yes, Ma’am.
2. Motivation
Before we start reading the story entitled
"Emma's Eco Adventure," here are some guided
questions that the teacher will ask after the story.
Who is the main character in the story?
Where does the story take place?
What does the main character do to the waste
they see?
(Teacher’s will use big books as a form of
instructional materials)
“Emma’s Eco Adventure”
Emma loved exploring the outdoors, especially
the park near her house. One sunny afternoon, (The students will listen to the story and when
while playing by the lake, she noticed something their row are asked to read they will read the
that made her frown—plastic bottles, wrappers, story)
and bags scattered all over the ground. The birds
and squirrels were staying away from the mess,
and the water didn't sparkle like it used to be.
That evening, Emma told her mom about the
trash in the park saying, “Mom why is there so
much trash in the park? The people who visited
the park throws their waste anywhere that leads
for the birds and squirrel run away”. Her mom
smiled and said, "It sounds like you’re ready to
learn about waste management, Tomorrow I will
teach you how to save and makes our park clean
!"
The next day, her mom showed her how to
separate recyclables like plastic, paper, and glass
from regular trash. Emma matched each item to
the right bin—paper in the blue bin, cans in the
green, and trash in the black. "It’s like a sorting
game!" she thought to herself.
Inspired, Emma decided to implement what she
learned. She gathered her friends and led a
cleanup in the park. They picked up litter and
made sure to recycle what they could. They even
made signs that said, "Keep Our Park Clean!"
But Emma wanted to do more. Emma decided
that the trash that they collected and can still be
recycled can be used to develop new ideas. She
turned an old milk jug into a bird feeder, she also
turns plastics as wind mills, and used plastic
bottles to plant flowers. Soon after the birds and
squirrel come back and she can see that the
animals enjoy their new environment, she also
invites her friends to crafting all kinds of things
from recycled materials.
Emma felt proud of her small steps. Not only
was the park becoming clean, but she had also
learned how to reduce waste and help the
environment. And she knew this was just the
beginning of her eco-friendly journey.
The end.
After we read the story we will now answer our
guided question earlier.
Who is the main character in the story?
Where does the story take place?
What does the main character do to the waste
they see? Emma.

What is the story all about? In the Park, Ma’am.

Separating the trash from recyclable materials
to regular trash.
That’ s right. Because in the Genesis 2:15 (NIV)
says: Ma’am, it is about caring for the environment
by reduce, reuse and recycling the waste we

the Garden of Eden to work it and take care
of it."
A. Unlocking of Difficulties
This afternoon, we are going to learn how to
reduce, reuse and recycle our waste. Today, we
will explore how we can manage waste better
through recycling and reduction strategies.
Understanding how to sort waste and find
creative ways to reuse materials not only helps
our environment but also encourages us to be
responsible citizens. Let’s discover how our
actions can lead to a cleaner, greener planet!
Before we go further, let us all be familiar with
reduce, reuse, recycle, biodegradable and
non-biodegradable words.
Do you know where this words are used?
If so, can you gave atleast 2 example for each of
these words?
Do you use this recycling method in the right

way?
Ma’am.
All your answers, are right. Very good! Let’s do

again our very good clap.
1,2,3 (stomping feet) (yell) very good (3x).
(student answer in their own opinion)
Class, your turn.
I’m glad you had insight of what is our topic will
be.
But before we dig into our topic let’s play a
matching game balloon pop.
(Student will imitate the clap)
I have here a matching column where you're
tasked to sort this waste into biodegradable
waste, non-biodegradable waste, reduce waste,
reuse waste, and recycle waste.
Do you understand how our activity works?
(Student’s will raise their hands and will pop the
balloon and then place the word to its
corresponding column).

Yes, Ma’am.
Answer:
Reduce: (Electricity, Water, Garbage)
Reuse: (clothes, tote bag/ grocery bags,
plastic container)
Recycle: (Paper, plastic, cardboard)
Biodegradable: (banana peel, egg shell,
fruits, leaves, egg trays)
Non- Biodegradable: (Bottles, tin cans,
Let’s begin to our lesson’s for today:
broken jars, styro foam, batteries)
After we answer this question and do the
matching game, I hope you have insight into
what are the things we will tackle all about.
It’s about Proper Waste Management Disposal
and the 3R’ s.
First let’s define what is disposal, waste
management, and the 3R’ s (reduce, reuse and
recycle’ s) and also the 2 types of waste
segregation’ s are.
Disposal - getting rid of something, or throwing
it away.

Example: Throwing a crumpled paper, throwing

a plastic wrapper or throwing plastic bottles.
Waste Management -There are many
alternative names for waste management
including waste disposal, garbage disposal, and
recycling.

What are the other term for waste management?

A waste management definition is activities that

include collecting, destroying, and disposing of
waste. Waste materials can consist of paper,
plastic, glass, metal, or organic matter.
Reduce – make smaller or less in amount.
Waste disposal, Garbage disposal, and
recycling, Ma’am.
Example: Reduce purchasing water bottle that
can be soon thrown away, invest on something
that will last like tumbler water bottle.
On your own experience, do you reduce
something that you use in your daily lives? Like
what item?
Very good!
Reuse – the action of using something again.

(Student will answer based on their opinion

and experience)

Example: Reusing glass jars as a storage jars.

We can reuse these jars as a pen holder, a plant
glass and many more.
Do you reuse something that should be disposed
of?
Can you give me an example of reused waste?

Recycle – processing used materials into new

products to prevent waste of potentially useful
materials.
(Student will answer based on their opinion
and experience)
(Student will answer based on their opinion
and experience)

Example: Recycled cardboard can be used to

make new boxes or paper products like
notebooks or egg cartons.
-A used notebook can be turned into recycled
paper for new books, magazines, or even toilet
paper.
Do you have experience recycling waste?

What kind of waste is that?

What kind of new things have you created using

that waste?
To make the 3R’ s work, there is need to separate
or segregate trash or garbage.
2 Types of Wastes

broken down or decomposed.

(student answer in their own understanding)

(student answer in their own opinion)

Non- biodegradable- waste or garbage that

cannot be broken down or decomposed. They
stay on Earth for a long time and thus are the
major components of garbage dump.
Okay, I guess you've learned now the 3 R's, and I
hope you know now that reduce, reuse, and
recycle are important in our daily lives. Not only
can it help us breathe freely and inhale the fresh
scent of the environment, but we can also help
our environment to stay clean.
a. Enrichment Activity
On your crosswise paper do this activity. You are
given 5 minutes to finished this activity.
Directions: In this activity, you will be given
scenarios related to waste management and
disposal. Your task is to think carefully about
each scenario and consider how you might
modify your actions to be more environmentally
responsible. Answer the questions provided with
thoughtful responses that show how you would
apply the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle
in each situation.
1.If you notice that your household is using a lot
of single-use plastics, what changes could you
suggest to reduce this waste?
2. Imagine you find a recyclable item in the
regular trash bin at school. What would you do
in this situation, and why?
3. How would you handle a situation where you
see friends littering in a public park? What could
you say or do to encourage them to dispose of
waste properly?
4. You are given the option to either throw away
old clothes or donate them. How would you
decide what to do, and how does this choice
relate to the 3Rs?
5. If your family doesn’t have a compost bin, but
you have food scraps and yard waste, what
alternatives could you suggest to reduce the
amount of biodegradable waste going to the
landfill?
(After the 5 mins the teacher will ask the
student’s)
Are you done class? Please pass it infront.

b. Generalization
What are the 3R’s?
What is the difference between reduce, reuse,
and recycle?

What is the difference between biodegradable

and non- biodegradable waste?

What is the importance of the 3R’ s in your daily

life?
Okay, all your answers are right. I guess you’ve
learned a lot today. And I hope that this lesson
will be your guide to take care of our
environment even in simple ways.
Do you have any question?

c. Application / Evaluation / Assessment Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

d. Assignment
For your assignment:
In a short bond paper, write an essay about “ As
a student and a part of the community, how
would you deal to the problem your community
faced when reducing the plastic waste?”
Okay, are you done class?
Let’s call it a day, Goodbye Class.

Yes, Ma’am. Goodbye and thank you,

Ma’am!
