2. Motivation
Before we start reading the story entitled
"Emma's Eco Adventure," here are some guided
questions that the teacher will ask after the story.
Who is the main character in the story?
Where does the story take place?
What does the main character do to the waste
they see?
(Teacher’s will use big books as a form of
instructional materials)
“Emma’s Eco Adventure”
Emma loved exploring the outdoors, especially
the park near her house. One sunny afternoon, (The students will listen to the story and when
while playing by the lake, she noticed something their row are asked to read they will read the
that made her frown—plastic bottles, wrappers, story)
and bags scattered all over the ground. The birds
and squirrels were staying away from the mess,
and the water didn't sparkle like it used to be.
That evening, Emma told her mom about the
trash in the park saying, “Mom why is there so
much trash in the park? The people who visited
the park throws their waste anywhere that leads
for the birds and squirrel run away”. Her mom
smiled and said, "It sounds like you’re ready to
learn about waste management, Tomorrow I will
teach you how to save and makes our park clean
!"
The next day, her mom showed her how to
separate recyclables like plastic, paper, and glass
from regular trash. Emma matched each item to
the right bin—paper in the blue bin, cans in the
green, and trash in the black. "It’s like a sorting
game!" she thought to herself.
Inspired, Emma decided to implement what she
learned. She gathered her friends and led a
cleanup in the park. They picked up litter and
made sure to recycle what they could. They even
made signs that said, "Keep Our Park Clean!"
But Emma wanted to do more. Emma decided
that the trash that they collected and can still be
recycled can be used to develop new ideas. She
turned an old milk jug into a bird feeder, she also
turns plastics as wind mills, and used plastic
bottles to plant flowers. Soon after the birds and
squirrel come back and she can see that the
animals enjoy their new environment, she also
invites her friends to crafting all kinds of things
from recycled materials.
Emma felt proud of her small steps. Not only
was the park becoming clean, but she had also
learned how to reduce waste and help the
environment. And she knew this was just the
beginning of her eco-friendly journey.
The end.
After we read the story we will now answer our
guided question earlier.
Who is the main character in the story?
Where does the story take place?
What does the main character do to the waste
they see? Emma.
Yes, Ma’am.
Answer:
Reduce: (Electricity, Water, Garbage)
Reuse: (clothes, tote bag/ grocery bags,
plastic container)
Recycle: (Paper, plastic, cardboard)
Biodegradable: (banana peel, egg shell,
fruits, leaves, egg trays)
Non- Biodegradable: (Bottles, tin cans,
Let’s begin to our lesson’s for today:
broken jars, styro foam, batteries)
After we answer this question and do the
matching game, I hope you have insight into
what are the things we will tackle all about.
It’s about Proper Waste Management Disposal
and the 3R’ s.
First let’s define what is disposal, waste
management, and the 3R’ s (reduce, reuse and
recycle’ s) and also the 2 types of waste
segregation’ s are.
Disposal - getting rid of something, or throwing
it away.
b. Generalization
What are the 3R’s?
What is the difference between reduce, reuse,
and recycle?
d. Assignment
For your assignment:
In a short bond paper, write an essay about “ As
a student and a part of the community, how
would you deal to the problem your community
faced when reducing the plastic waste?”
Okay, are you done class?
Let’s call it a day, Goodbye Class.
