This study focuses on examining the effects


of social media usage on the academic
performance of Grade 10 students at Tulay
na Lupa National High School during the
academic year 2024–2025. It will explore
variables such as the amount of time spent
on social media, the type of social media
platforms used (e.g., Facebook, Instagram,
TikTok), and how these influence students’
grades in major subject such as in English.
The study will involve a survey and
interviews with 100 randomly selected
Grade 10 students.

Delimitations:
The study is limited to Grade 10 students
from Tulay na Lupa National High School,
excluding other grade levels to maintain a
manageable scope and consistent sample
population. The research will only consider
the students’ academic performance in
major subjects, excluding minor subjects or
extracurricular activities. It will not
investigate the psychological effects of
social media use, nor will it assess
students’ socioeconomic background as a
factor. Additionally, the study will only cover
popular social media platforms and will not
include messaging apps like WhatsApp or
Telegram.
