IP6557 integrates a synchronous switch buck-boost controller that supports wide input voltage and high efficiency. The input voltage range is 5V~31V.
IP6557 has the functions of inductor peak current limiting and average current limiting.
The driving switching frequency of the IP6557 output is 250kHz and can be adjusted internally.
IP6557 has a soft start function to prevent malfunction caused by excessive inrush current at startup. VIN=12V, 5V no-load output

The output voltage of IP6557 has a wired compensation function: for every 1A increase in output current, the output voltage will increase by 50mV.
IP6557
11.4 Output CC/CV Characteristics
IP6557 output has CV/CC characteristics: when the output load current is less than the set value, the output is in CV mode and the output voltage is constant; when the load current is less than the set value, the output is in CV mode and the output voltage is constant.
If the load current is greater than the set value, the CC mode is entered and the output voltage begins to decrease; if the load current continues to increase, the output voltage decreases rapidly until the trigger is triggered.
IP6557 can adjust the output current limit by adjusting the 5mohm current detection resistor between CSP1 and CSN1 in the output path.
As shown in the figure below, by detecting the voltage difference between CSP1 and CSN1, it is determined whether the current load current reaches the set current size.
CSN1
IP6557 5mohm
CSP1
Iload
When the current detection resistor is changed to 5mohm, the corresponding output current limit will also change.
When laying out the PCB, pay special attention to the routing of CSP1 and CSN1. They need to be directly led out from both ends of the 5mohm resistor to prevent
The PCB trace impedance is introduced, which causes IC current limiting deviation.
When choosing a 5mohm resistor, you also need to consider the accuracy of the resistor. You need to choose a resistor with a good temperature coefficient (100ppm) and 1% accuracy.
IP6557 has input overvoltage protection function: when VIN rises above 31 V, IP6557 detects input overvoltage and shuts down the output;
When VIN drops to 29 V again, IP6557 considers the input to be normal and turns on the output.
IP6557 has an output undervoltage protection function: when the VBUS1 output drops to 2.6V, the output is turned off, and it hiccups and restarts after 2s.
IP6557 has short circuit protection function. If the VBUS1 voltage is lower than 2.6V after 10ms of startup, IP6557 considers the output
If there is a short circuit, the output will be turned off, and it will hiccup and restart after 2s.
IP6557 has over-temperature protection function: when IP6557 detects that the chip temperature reaches 150ÿ, it will shut down the output; when the temperature is
IP6557
When the temperature drops to 110ÿ, IP6557 considers that the temperature has returned to normal and turns on the output again.
IP6557 supports AC/CC dual-port output. Any device plugged into either port supports fast charging output. When both ports are plugged in at the same time, the output is 5V.
When two ports are used at the same time, the maximum total power of IP6557 is 5V/4.8A, and the current distribution of the two ports will be automatically adjusted.
IP6557 integrates automatic detection function for device insertion and removal at port A or port C, and either port can output fast charge.
IP6557 supports fast charging protocol output, the specifications are as follows:

12 Application Notes
The ESR of the input capacitor should be as small as possible, as it will affect the conversion efficiency of the system.
When the input voltage is significantly greater than the output voltage, the device operates in buck mode and the maximum ripple current supported by the input capacitor is
It must be greater than the maximum ripple current of the system's VIN. The ripple current IRMS(VIN) value of the input capacitor is calculated as follows:
VOUT
ÿ (1 ÿ )
IRMS(VIN) = ILOAD ÿ ÿ VOUT VIN VIN
Where ILOAD is the load current, VIN is the input voltage, and VOUT is the output voltage.
The DCR of the inductor has a great influence on the conversion efficiency of the system. It is recommended to use an inductor with low DCR. For solutions
above 30W, it is recommended to use an inductor with a DCR less than 10mohm.
The inductor saturation current should be at least 20% greater than the system's inductor peak current limit to avoid inductor saturation, which will cause the inductance to

IRMS(VOUT) = ILOAD ÿ ÿ( VOUT VIN
Where ILOAD is the load current, VIN is the input voltage, and VOUT is the output voltage.
The output capacitor is used to maintain output stability, and its ESR and capacitance value have an impact on the output ripple size;

It is recommended to select a MOSFET device with a V(BR)DSS at least 20% higher than the input voltage .
The RDS(ON) of MOSFET brings about the power loss of the device when it is turned on, which has a direct impact on the system conversion efficiency. It
is generally recommended to select a MOSFET with an RDS(ON) of 10mohm; if the solution requires higher power output, it is recommended to select a lower RDS(ON)
device .
The CISS of MOSFET affects its switching speed. It is necessary to adjust the resistance of HG and LG in series and the driving
speed of MOSFET appropriately for different MOSFETs to ensure system stability. It is recommended to use MOSFET with CISS no higher
than 1000pF.
The RC buffer circuit of LX1/LX2 can suppress the burr of LX. The appropriate RC buffer circuit can be

15 PCB Layout Considerations
IP6557 integrates a buck-boost controller. The PCB layout has a great impact on the system's operating stability, EMI, and other performance indicators.
1. The loop composed of the input capacitor, the upper NMOS (controlled by HG2), and the lower NMOS (controlled by LG2) should be as small as possible.
Small.
2. The loop composed of the output capacitor, the upper NMOS (controlled by HG1), and the lower NMOS (controlled by LG1) should be as small as possible.
Small.
3. The inductor traces connecting the upper tube and the lower tube should be as wide and short as possible, and the node area should be able to ensure the maximum output current capability.
4. HG1/LG1 and HG2/LG2 need to be routed in parallel and the spacing between the lines should be as wide as possible.
5. The loop formed by the buffer circuit of LX1/LX2 and PGND should be as small as possible.
6. The current sampling circuit for the 5mohm resistor is directly led out from both ends of the resistor (including PCON/CSP2/CSN2
/PCIN/CSP1/CSN1), parallel routing, as short as possible and avoid switch nodes such as LX/BST/HG/LG.
7. Place the capacitors of VCC5V and VCCIO close to the device pins.
8. The GND of the input and output capacitors should be connected to a large PGND area.
9. If you need better ESD protection, it is recommended to reserve resistors in series and diodes to ground in the CC1/CC2/DP/DM lines.
