BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

March 17, 2020, has been a nightmare for everyone. The

Covid-19 cases have been intensely rising, and the executive

order to lock down the entire country was implemented.

Under Proclamation Nos.929 and 922 s. 2020 and Republic Act

No. 11332, following the sharp increase in the number of

confirmed COVID-19 cases throughout the country, all heads of

departments, agencies, offices, and instrumentalities of the

government, including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed

Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine Coast Guard

(PCG), GOCCs, GFIs, SUCs, and LGUs are hereby directed to adopt,

coordinate and implement the guidelines on the imposition of

Enhanced Community Quarantine and the Stringent Social Distancing

Measures over the entire Luzon, including the National Capital

region)NCR).

Classes in all public and private schools were suspended.

Mass gatherings and all indoor and outdoor activities were

prohibited. Strict home quarantine was observed and wearing of

facemasks and face shields become mandatory.

To provide an appropriate answer on the issue of opening for

SY 2020-2021 Department of Education has clarified that Distance

Learning will be strictly implemented and that face-to-face

classes will not be conducted under the new normal” Blended


Learning. The date of the opening classes was extended from June

2020 to August 2020. But due to the rapid spreading of the virus,

the opening of classes extended from August 2020 to October 2020

in public schools. On the other hand, Baco Catholic School Inc.

pursue the opening of classes in August 2020. The school year

2020-2021 ended on May 2021 and using Blended Learning.

In August 2021, SY 2021-2022 was formally opened but still

in Blended Distance Learning. To be academically successful

students from Baco Catholic School Inc. attend classes regularly

through modular learning and online classes. Students, teachers,

and parents work collaboratively to assure the regular attendance

of the students. The school implements the drop-off points in

delivering and retrieving modules.

In the new normal system of education, students have trouble

answering modules. In the scheduled online classes most of the

students in remote areas experience poor internet connectivity.

Scope and limitation of the study

This study focused on the challenges encountered in the

blended learning modality of Grade 10 students of Baco Catholic

School Inc. amidst pandemics The participants will be the grade

11-STEM students of Baco Catholic School Inc. this school year

2020-2021.
