MY LISTENING NOTES

(1) Synonyms:

- Question: The farm is _________ in size. ( a- small b- medium c- huge )

- Transcript: “The farm is really enormous!”

(2) Order:

- Question: “The __________ cabinet was damaged.”

- Transcript: “The cabinet from the bathroom was damaged.”

(3) Synonyms & Order:

- Question: The company’s __________ is great.

- Transcript: “The location of the organisation is great!”

(4) Parts of Speech:

- … the place was really beautiful /… the beauty of the place

- … to produce coffee/ … coffee production

(Note: try to focus on the part of speech in completion questions!!)

(5) Paraphrasing:

- … to consider the students’ interests on one hand and to vary the teaching approaches on
the other. (= to balance between pupils’ and teachers’ needs.)

(6) Similar Sounds (Letters):

Ex. /j/ vs. /g/ /b/ vs. /p/ /m/ vs. /n/ /r/ vs. /a/ (British Accent)

(7) Similar Sounds (Numbers):

Ex. 13 vs. 30 16 vs. 60 18 vs. 80 etc.

(Note: write the numbers in digits Not letters!)

(8) Spelling:

- Check the list (1200 common repeated words)

(9) Grammar:

- singular vs. plural - past vs. present etc.

(10) Word Limit:

- One Word ONLY - No more than three words and/or a number

(11) Accents:

- British (common) - New Zealand - Australian - North American

(12) Changing the answer (in section 1):

- “What’s your passport number?” - “It’s K397. Oh, sorry! I mean K937”

(13) Clear Handwriting !
